Damn straight... You know what we're doing wrong? We're blaming all our personal problems on our government instead of improving ourselves first.

Most of the people in this thread are a pretty good example of people who can't come to terms with responsibility.

And sometimes the responsibility we need to take is to realize that we have been had. That we have been told something is for our own good but in reality it is the opposite.

No doubt there will still be competition between "providers" within the industry. However there is also no doubt that premium prices as a whole will increase. There is just nothing to prevent it. They no longer have to worry about the consumer abandoning their "service" as an industry.

Not only that, but it could end up like Pepsi and Coke where the companies all set the prices the same. Even if the insurance companies don't officially consolidate, they can still be one and the same via de facto status.

Bravo!

I think we already have that Pepsi/Coke situation with the health insurers.

Yes, likely so.

Except that people can choose not to buy soda and they won't be penalized for it. Insurance is a lot higher than a can of pop and now it's mandatory to purchase. No choices allowed. Buy it or be punished. Not much of a choice.

So wait……
Just because I do not believe in Obama or back him I am a Bush follower?

That is a huge assumption on your part. In fact I have not been accepting of the leaders we have had in the past decades. Heck even Regan gave amnesty to illegal immigrants “to help with the problem”, all that did was make the problem worse.

Here is a hint. Just because I think Obama is garbage does not mean I think Bush was or is any better. I chose to not have to decide between the lesser of two evils. I want someone who I will back fully or on a majority, not those I would only back for one or two items.

Edit to add: We need ot get past this two party mindset. There are more choices

Yes, they force fed us the bill, wonder why we didn't like the way they did it.

Now we get forced to buy insurance from a private company, I just hope the Supreme Court sees the bill as unconstitutional.

LOL LOL AND LOL, to all the people making out like this is the end of the world, and there's gonna be bounty hunters and Gustapo and a pre crime unit or some BS for people now that this is in place. Alot of countries have something like this, seriously it's not a big deal.

Get over it, or start a riot or something.

I suspect I'm rather lucky to have inherited Home Economics books, including the famous "Vitalogy" of Pearl Jam fame. Had 'em since since 1979. There's ways of cutting costs and not being in too much misery. I've used these books when I was strapped before, and I'm going to use them again.

Soda can be made at home, a good mandolin helps in making chips.
I don't know if the strange laws concerning home gardening ever came to fruition, but there's window boxes if they did.
You can make your own laundry soap, that's on the web, too. There's a lot on the web while we still have it that can cut down on costs.
What the hell did they do last time the country was screwed? Listen to the radio shows and can a lot.
I lived through Carter, and I'm still here. This is temporary.

The government is there to represent the people...as far as i am aware that is their purpose.
Its pretty clear to me they do exactly the opposite.
Now is the time to start taking control of our own destiny.
Here in Australia we are about to go through a new health reform system.
As we tend to follow America im worried we will head down the same path.

Actually, that is correct. We will not have to purchase insurance for them....we will simply be forced to pay a higher tax rate instead.

I am very close to saying to heck with this criminal medical system entirely and treating myself. The system we have no only gives you Big Pharma drugs instead of natural cures that can cure the disease anyway. I have several cures for cancer at Project Nsearch already and plan on extending this section in the future! Why can I find several cures to cancer yet our FDA and Cancer Society NEVER DO! Wake up - the Rockefeller foundation admitted they had cures to 99% of all cancers in the 60's! This was admitted to doctors in the 60's! Just about 99% of all cancers could be cured but they WILL NOT be cured because you have new world order monsters in charge that want 95% of the planet to die! Wake up!

I sure don't trust our Rockefeller funded medical system. They want to treat you with deadly chemo instead of giving you hemp oil that cures cancer. It's all a fraud, so why should I continue to pay for something I don't use. And if I do use it, they will try to kill me with their Big Pharma scams anyway

Projectnsearch,

I agree with most of your post. Where I disagree is the part about them wanting to kill us. If they do that then they cannot sell us overpriced, ineffective drugs! In today's society people run their kids to the doctor every time they sneeze and get some antibiotics whether they are needed or not. I currently have a plan that covers my family in the event of an accident (ER benefits) and surgical benefits. Doctors, such as they are, are needed for these cases. But, sadly, the doctors themselves have been taken down the garden path by big pharma. My family members have not been to a doctor for sickness in well over 10 years. If you educate yourself you can find a multitude of very inexpensive, very effective alternatives to our current "medicine" that causes more need for medicine! Perfect example are the commercials that "cure" relatively harmless conditions and have horrific side effects....depression pills that may have a side effect of making you suicidal?? Or the one for a minor ailment, (can't remember if it was joint pain or acid reflux) that can cause lymphoma??? I'll keep my joint pain and acid reflux, thanks...you can take your lymphoma. And now I am forced to buy a product that I will not use!

Although I am an Australian (Decended from criminals), I have tried to find out as much as I can about this new Healthcare Bill. You're all worried about nothing as far as I can see it..

The following link is from CNN and it's about the best Summary I can find.

Yeesh... www.cnn.com... I don't even need to follow that link to know that it is BS. Come on, have you read any threads on this site?

anyone going to answer these questions?

My wife and I already pay through the teeth for excellent coverage for our family so paying is nothing new. However my fear will be losing this excellent coverage when our employers decide to drop coverage. I would expect our premiums to at least double just to try to keep it.

We will either have to sell our extra kidneys or fold out into Obama's system.

I could also try to have my vasectomy reversed so that I can "sell" a little to earn some extra dollars.

My kids can also sell their plasma and sign up for "twin study experiments" at our local Uni.

In all actuality, it is not a bad idea for people to have some basic coverage. Perhaps 1-800 SAFEAUTO can open up some new business ventures on this heels of this disaster.

How much are your premiums compared to how much do you use in services*?
For me it is about 50 times what My family uses in services and that is for the unnessicary tests they 'force' on you yearly.

This is such a scam. I could go to the doctor every week and pay out of pocket for what they charge in premiums on insurance you are 'forced' to purchase.

*For a rough guideline I look at what the same operation would cost for a human sized animal. Great Dane, Pony etc - that would be about the true cost of the service.

I think I will just forfit paying my taxes

Yeah That's fair I think and If I decide to open my own business, I'll just 1099 and report myself in the red every year and keep my money overseas... that's my plan!!!!

Once this is mandatory, I'll drop out of the system.. I dont play games that have rigged corrupt rules.

My life will change to a more simple life style where my only need for money will be for a few material things.. the rest of the things like food and other needs i can grow or harvest from the land. and since ill be making next to no "money".. if they say your not buying the required health insurance, ill just show them my income and they can clearly see Ill be in "poverty".. they will offer me free health care from the government and ill decline, because then they would be able to tell me how to live, and what to consume etc..

Money isn't everything in life, nor is material items.. you don't need these things to live a happy life. less than 100 years ago we didn't have cars , we didn't have electronics, and people lived happy lives growing their own food trading that with others through bartering.. and to this day you can still do this.. look at the Amish.. they do it every day even in this day and age of all the materialism and excess.. I don't agree with their reason for leading the life they do but i do agree with many off the philosophies of how they do it.

Someone (an "OFA", no doubt) actually had the gall to post on Firedog Lake that people who had a house should sell it (yeah, right- in this economy) & rent an apartment, sell their cars (if they are original owners) & get a used one (*that*'ll be cheaper) or use public transportation or RIDE A BICYCLE (in Maine. In the WINTER).
Although this poster allegedly had a wife & children, it was pretty obvious they had no clue what it was like to live on their own & have responsibilities in the real world. Never mind the audacity of telling someone what they should be required by law to sacrifice for the sake of Obama's socialist scheme.

That was the point for me that I decided these people are completely out of their minds. I'm having no part of it.
Hopefully, the SCOTUS will deal with it or our governor (Rick Perry) will come up with a better plan. It sounds like he might.

A tip for those that want to tell the system to screw off..

antibiotics and other antifungal meds can be purchased without prescription.. Fish medications come in capsules and are the exact same capsules that are used for humans... great source for antibiotics for your needs and for survival preparation needs also.. and yes ive taken fish antibiotics and so has my wife.. no side effects besides getting rid off the infection... its the exact same capsules even denoted with the same identification "human" pills are marked with...

However know your meds and diagnosis.. educate your self.. you don't want to be popping antibiotics every month youll build up a immunity to their effects..

Also make friends with a local veterinarian.. in a survival situation a vet could save your life... they have the education and the medicines to do it Vets actually spend longer in school than most doctors. Humans are just animals.. just large brained monkeys.

Also natural remedies work also..
