Okay...this is happening at glacier peak. SE of Mount baker, slightly SE of my location.

I do not even normally pay attention to it...becuase it has been 'silent' for several years. Last quake there was in 07. HERE is the latest info on it.

This is scary stuff actually. It is very close to me and something is very definately happening there right NOW.

Thank you Annmarie for the heads up.

Check these seismos out...OH MAN...

It seems to have almost stopped now. Still waiting for PNSN to indicate something.

Yup, I saw those. Now, Helens is often 'talking', but when we start getting into the 2+ range, we need to listen.

Coincidence? Right now, I just don't know. Did you see my other thread?

Something is happening at glacier peak (I think you commented, but I just can't remember right now. I know you'd be interested)

I'm trying to keep an eye on all of them, just to make sure they are fore-telling of anyting, like JustMike suggested.

Honestly, it is the same thing I have been thinking, that perhaps all this stuff is tied into the subduction zone showing some signs and symptoms.
I only hope that if it is, there will be some more gradual releases, and not the BIG one anytime soon.....like in our lifetime!!! But on that note, we need to pay close attention to all these micro quakes. It's starting to look like a literal swarm on this side of the state.

I just posted this on my Glacier Peak thread, but obviously it is very pertinent to this thread. Pretty much everything between the two are obviously iner-connected.

YES!!! I knew it! I actually felt this one, which is one of the reasons I got up last night (or should I say this morning?) What in the world is going on? We NEVER have this many quakes in our area in such a short time frame. Something is most defiantely UP!

(this again is about 10 miles from my house!)

Notice the very shallow depth on both of these. They are also probably whithin 30 miles or less from Glacier Peak. It is VERY ODD to be having this many quakes here. We maybe see one or two a YEAR in this area.

I'll be watching my dog closely today. My little one was sleeping during both of these...but my other dog that barks at quakes was agitated last night (1 am)

Okay, since Glacier Peak seems to have gone still again, and Helens is the one acting up, I decided to just go ahead and continue any updates on the regional activity back on this thread, since it seems more appropriate. If anything happens that seems to indicate something real is happening (of important magnetude), I will dedicate a thread to that, so as not to get it lost in here.

I found a local article yesterday on Helens. Seems that obviously PNSN is paying close attention, but they also say they aren't concerned, which is good.

Swarm of earthquakes at Mount St. Helens

A series of nine small earthquakes shook an area near Mount St. Helens over the weekend

"It's something we're watching but we're not alarmed," said Bill Steele, Seismology Lab Coordinator for the Pacific Northwest Seismograph Network

On Monday scientists said there were as many as 30 quakes in all over a period of several days.

Source

30! Not a small number for a volcano, especially when some of those are over 2,0 in magnetude. BUT...again, they say they aren't concerned. I am a bit more interested in this fitting into the over-all picture. Speaking of pictures....I was out on a walk today (first one since my daughter got sick! A good sign..
) I happened to spot some 'sun dog's' again. ( posted a pic on my other thread last week of one then) They seem to be happening a lot lately. I found these of particular interest, because there were a couple of them first of all, and they were quite dramatic. Rather than looking like pillars, they are horizontal and the colors were reversed.

I did some reading up on this when I got my sun halo pictures last year. I wanted to find out what all these earthquake clouds were about. What I found, was that the story says if the blue is on the inside of the rainbow colors, it's normal. If it is on the outside, it is suposed to indicate a iminent quake. Now, I am not saying I believe this...but since reading that I have been paying attention to rainbows, and I have never seen the blue/purple to the outside (away from the sun)...until today.

This first picture is to the right of the sun...notice the red is near the sun, the blue/purple away from it:

The one to the right faded and one on the left appeared. As it began, a jet flew over:

It grew quite larger, and while this picture doesn't really do it justice, I could clearly see the blue/purple on the far left, away from the sun:

Now, I am not saying that I think these ARE earthquake clouds vs. regular sun dogs, but I think it would be stupid of me not to share these images given the nature of my thread and the acticity we have been having lately. Since the colors seem to be reversed, I think I should at least document this in case there does happen to be a larger quake out this way!

Edit to Add: for any skeptics, these are only a few of the pictures. I DO have pics that show the ground/horizon and position of the sun. These ones showed the colors the best.

They have added about 10 quakes to this list, FYI. A bit odd that it took so long to update it. Two of them are quite deep too, for this area.

Looks like I might have to wait awhile for the quakes to be back-filled. There is a lot of that going on lately. I saw a small one on a local seismo about an hour after I posted, but nothing has been listed for it.

My dog is doing it again..so it'll be interesting to see if anything matches up come monday.

So to just to follow-up with the quakes. It is now Monday, and more quakes might be added later...but so far, this what there is:

The first time I posted was on the 4th at 4:08 PM local time. At 10:45 PM local time there was a 2.3 quake about 50 miles from my house. It is further than the others she reacted to, but it was also twice the size and depth.

The next day on the 5th I posted at 5:12PM. She had been acting odd for awhile when I posted so it could have been in reaction to another quake right next to the one the day before that occured less than an hour before I posted.. It was a bit smaller but around the same depth, so I think it would make sense for her to react to it. There were also a couple of other smaller ones further away, but I think those are less likely.

Anyways....I still think that there is some very compelling data to her feeling/hearing these quakes. We also continue to remain at what seems to me to be above-normal local activity. I will keep ya posted!

Do you think the recent WA quakes follow the same line as the plate depth line or close to it? My thinking is these "slow moving tremors" have been trying to move the Juan de Fuca plate and have gotten more intense with these recent small quakes.
edit forgot to mention they follow from Oregon all the way up through Vancouver Island, B.C.
