That's one of the reasons I like the guy so much.

You won't see him on his knees in front of that slavemaster. I wish more people would stand up to her instead of worshipping the alleged human.

nice picture, hard to take the guy seriously in that suit though.

Chavez has a good heart, so he doesn't need a fancy suit. Fancy suits are for those who want to deceive, like used car salesmen.

Chavez is right. Empires are over. The UK should be no difference. Also IMO the monarchy should all be hanged or at the very least kicked out of their palace, and stripped of everything they own that belongs to the people.

Agreed. If there is any truth to the rumor that they are just ordinary human beings, they should stop stealing, get jobs and stop bludging off the people.

Mexico is hardly a military power in Latin America.
I think Brasil and Colombia would have more to say in that arena.

empires are wrong..but the falkland island belongs to Great Britain..get over it........its a long way from london but..so what...alaska is a long way from washington..should canada or russia take it away from the US?

if the people living on the falkland island want to be british...then why would any supposed well meaning person (chevez)..want to change this?

what the people want should top anything else...

Chavez talks good, but he is a not a man of the people, but merely for himself. Venezuela, in fact all of La Gran Colombia needs a strong socialist leader to lead them to prosperity.

What a load of bollocks you talk.

The royal family are the number one tourist atrraction in th UK and bring in huge revenues to the public coffers.
Chavez is a dictator who controls the TV and radio and mainstream press and closes down anyone who says anything against him.
He speaks about democracy, but if you go on the street and shout "Chaves is a c*nt", you disappear forever.

Its about time that some morons understand its not a turf war.
Its about who controls the resources of this dying planet.

The time of conventional empires has passed, now you control your corporate empire from a desk, ruling half the world without firing a shot.

But reading your thread, its nice to know the convicts in the penal colonies still support us.

I too think you are talking bollocks.

You are verging on the delusional if you think Chavez has the interests of his people at heart.

I think YOU just don't like the fact that the Falklands wants to stay British and cannot comprehend the fact that the islanders have made up their own minds.

If they didn't want to be under British rule, then i would not be taking this stance, but sadly for you... this IS how it is...

Please figure out the facts before piping out such rot.

Not only do they wish to stay as part of Great Britain, they are populated by mainly British people.

It's not like the majority of Falklands inhabitants are naturalised Argentinians either, they are British so obviously wish to stay so.

Argentina's is only making noises now, because of the oil.

Not being enamoured with war unlike many these days it seems, even i can tell the Argies' that should they try anything stupid, such as they did in 1982, they'll be sent home with their tails between their legs AGAIN.

Has he no idea he is addressing the headpiece of the Illuminati? Sure he can screw with Barry, he's just a fellow low-level Marxist but that Liz is an old school tyrant in sheep's clothing. That crazy Chavez kid.

HAHAHA! Thats like a mote of dust asking a mountain to move out of its way . Pathetic little man has no backing what so ever, and certainly the Queen will not consider the requested approach as it would be a grave insult to all those who died to reclaim it last time.
Chavez cannot DEMAND anything. He can politely request, or he wont get anything. He wont get a damn thing unless he learns to bow, and learns to address her properly. Mans got no sense of decorum.

Damn fine speech old man..i think its time this damn Chavez fellow recieved a damn good eton and oxford style thrashing..

Who the devil does this bloody foreigner think he is talking about her Majesty like that.

When i was a lad we would have invaded his country, hung him and then stuck a bayonet up his arse for good measure just for talking about the Queen like that god bless her.

Just like that bloody Hussain fellow.. what.

Hurrah Hurrah for her majesty. Hoist the union jack and be pleased to inform her Majesty that the Falkland Islands remain British.

"They dont like a bayonet up ém Mr Mannering sir"

well, i had suspected that chavez may have offered support to the president of argentina and that may have been a factor in her boldness looking for confrontation with britain.
and chavez you didnt disappoint me!

im not sure if this is supposed to be a threat to britain, do we now have to worry about about a venezuala/argentina alliance if there is some kind of blockade?

i wonder how important this issue is to chavez and kirchner, are they willing to keep up the pressure, and put their money where their mouth is? i hope not, yet in these situations they risk utter humiliation at home, and in south america if they do not try and attempt to say blockade a few ships, or stopn and search vessels moving around the falklands.

who knows, and we havent even started drilling yet............

Drilling has been ongoing in this region for many years now. Over 10 years ago huge gas reserves were found, wells were capped and abandoned for a rainy day

I draw the attention of all true Englishmen to a rousing old song by a band known as the MACC LADDS - entitiled BUENAS AIRES. A catchy little tune i might add. -

Get at ém.
There where a bunch of bloody faires
In Buenas bloody Aires
Wi greasy hair and sweaty bums
They´d never heard of Boddingtos
It were a diffrent culture and a different race.
No chippys in bloody place
Yer can keep that puff Ardiles (Oswaldo Ardiles - Spurs 1982)
´Cos were gonna have yer Malvinas

Well they gorrus backs up without a doubt
Time to sort them bastards out
Costa Mendes lives in fear
Of real men who can hold their beer
Sing HEY HEY HEY
The lads are on their way
With their bayonets and their tommy guns
And their bellys full of Boddingtons (Boddys Bitter)
Get in there my son
Lets set up a couple of pubs
Let the bitter flow...NUKE EM TIL THEY GLOW

Fray Bentos an cheap red wine is all they eat in the Argentine
But after a scarp with the British Navy
They´ll ask for the recipe for chips ´n gravy
Sing HEY HEY HEY
the lads are on their way etc etc etc

(repeat till end)

Latin America might back a statement condemning Britain, but apart from two other leaders, the rest have REFUSED to publicly on the issue.

Why? Could it be this;

Mr Rammell (UK Defence Minister) said the UK would take "whatever steps necessary" to protect the islands and that it had made Argentina "aware of that".

Hugo Chavez threatened war with Britain and our government replied with "OK, ready?"

Chavez enjoys, rather salaciously, threatening war with his neighbours on TV-but Britain is a nation that is likely to sail a few gunboats into his water.

Mate, let me tell you something about us British people..you talk about Great Britain not being able to finance another war..if our soldiers had to go out there armed with slingshots and bravado after rowing to the Falkland islands in rubber dingies, we would still go.

We are like that, when it comes to bullies having a pop at our people, we just say, "Oh...ok, off we jolly well go then, c'mon lads!"

We do not take threats lying down when the safety and sovereignty of our fellow Brits are in jeopardy.

As for your rant on empire..are the Argies' going to hand back Argentina to the South American Indians?

How about Australia, are they going to hand over Oz to the Aborigines?

What about your country, the U.S.? You think the U.S. Govt. is going to hand all power and decision making to indigenous 'American' tribes of Indians?

No, of course they're not.

So, why be a hypocrite and expect Great Britain to be any different?
