Obama to spell out new healthcare plan

news.yahoo.com

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama is expected to publish his healthcare plan as early as Sunday or Monday, combining features of the two Democratic bills passed by the Senate and House of Representatives, congressional aides and healthcare advocates said on Friday.

The administration's bill will aim to jump-start the stalled healthcare overhaul and comes just days ahead of a planned televised White House summit with congressional Republicans, who are calling on Democrats to scrap the bills and start over with a far less sweeping proposal.

Note the timing here. He asks the Republicans to come in for a pow-wow. Great. Now he is going to bring his bill out before that meeting ever happens!

This the act of someone who knows that he has but a few months left in his ability to do something and wants, as does every president to have an accomplishment on which to hang his hat.

Get ready for the executive orders, recess appointments and all the rest, because he's in the red zone and game's over in November

It is simpler than that. Obama is an extreme narcissist. Such people BELIEVE that they are always right, no matter how many valid arguments are brought to bear against their beliefs. He will indeed accomplish something, the destruction of the Democratic Party for the next 3 years. He just doesn't get it. Americans, by a LARGE majority, want NO PART of his health care agenda. Reform of the insurance industry is necessary, but his way destroys Medicare in the process, and actually brings more business to private insurance carriers. None of the Senate or House plans do anything to control premiums, which are the main problem with the current situation.

Well said! Star for you

But you forgot to mention that this healthcare is the start of a genocide of those who are going to support the Obama plan for the coming People's Republic of America. You will see provisions in the bill to deny health care to people on unspecified grounds that will be made pretty clear. it will start as affirmative action priorites

Geez, how can healthcare still be the major priority in Obama's eyes when the economy continues to tank?

He is out of touch with the American publc and still no one dares to tell the Emporer he has no clothes.

Oh people tell him, but in his mind we, the ignorant masses, are simply too feeble minded to understand something as complex as his new order. As he said, apparently he hasn't explained it to us enough yet. Yeesh!

The reason, I believe, lies in the fact that Obama doesn't have a clue regarding what needs to be done in order to fix the economy. Thus, he diverts attention back to health care, which of course, will cause wide spread consternation among the populace, since people don't want his form of health care "reform".

I always thought that it would be nice to have economists having a hand in the economy at the national level.

Seems all we can get is career politicians(read:Actors); who can barely count, let alone balance a checkbook or pay their taxes.

Ho hum. Another Obama-bashing thread.

I hope the public option is in Obama's proposed plan. It is still favored by a majority of Americans, but I'm afraid he will not include it as a way of trying to appease the Republicans.

The fact is, Republicans hate and despise Obama, no matter what he does (like saving the economy from the worst depression since the 1930's). Their hatred is blind, unthinking and total. They will never ever, ever, ever support anything the president does, including brushing their teeth and dotting their i's. And these are the same people who accused Obama supporters of being indoctrinated.

I personally hope the public option, at least, is in the final bill as well as an extension of Social Security for people 55-65. And I hope the bill is subjected to a straight up-and-down vote after passing budget reconciliation. This is what the majority of the American people want, ATS notwithstanding.

This is what I say...

The Republicans do not seem to what anything to pass hence the start over.
Meanwhile we spend 2.5 trillion on healthcare, up a Trillion and some from ten years ago. Ten years from now this is slatted to increase 150%... At this rate we are looking at GDP in a generation. I think the GOP cares more about making Obama look bad than the well being of peoples pocket books.

I suspect the goal is to run the clock out and do nothing, because doing something is not in line with conservative ideology.

To simplify this whole thing and save people a wealth of time from having to listen to Obama bloviat and obfuscate, I have included a very simple and easy translation of Obama's spelling of his healthcare plan. It is..... S O C I A L I S M !!!

You obviously have NO understanding of the Constitution and the separation of powers. Writing new legislation is reserved to the legislative branch, and may NOT be delegated to any other branch of government.

US Congressional Seal.svg Congress has the sole power to legislate for the United States. Under the nondelegation doctrine, Congress may not delegate its lawmaking responsibilities to any other agency. In this vein, the Supreme Court held in the 1998 case Clinton v. City of New York that Congress could not delegate a "line-item veto" to the President, by which he was empowered to selectively nullify certain provisions of a bill before signing it. The Constitution Article I, Section 8; says to give all the power to Congress. Congress has the exclusive power to legislate, to make laws and in addition to the enumerated powers it has all other powers vested in the government by the Constitution.

en.wikipedia.org...

Obama is violating the US Constitution by introducing legislation.
Learn how the US Constitution works, before you post nonsense about Obama. He is a criminal, pure and simple, because he has continued to voilate the Constitution, as have Reid and Pelosi, in their actions regarding health care.

You have to be kidding, right?

ALL legislation is introduced by Congress.

The President did not introduce the legislation, Congress did. Obama is just stating what he would like to see in the legislation. It is up to Congress to act or not act on it.

ALL presidents can, and have, consulted and advised on proposed legislation. For example, President Bush expressing his preference for giant tax cuts for the wealthy.

Obama will have nothing officially to do with the legislation until it is passed and put on his desk.

The example you gave of the line-item veto not being Constitutional is a completely different matter. That would give the president the ability to personally rewrite legislation and would undoubtedly be unconstitutional.

BTW: almost all recent presidents have advocated for a line-item veto, including, most notably, President Bush. But none of them have gotten it.
