I believe that the assumption running rampant here is that there is no "joy" in stripping. The "nastiness" is your opinion, and instead of going on a crusade to "protect" people (which is the basis for fascism when such behavior is allowed to proliferate) why not go interview some strippers and find out if they actually enjoy what they are doing.

I guarantee that many of them do.

And if one does not enjoy the act, then why the hell are you doing it? That would be the definition of stupidity.

Furthermore, it is a gross injustice to assume that strippers have no "self-respect." You may be surprised to find that many strippers have more self-respect than many people that I have met.

Perhaps the joy of women and children has gone to the place where all people that have to work two jobs just to break even has gone. Even kids have to work now to help their parents out.

Consenting adults should be allowed to marry or otherwise legally acquire the legal ramifications, rights and privileges of same civil union, in a free society or everyone in that society is not actually "free."

I do not believe in underage stripping with the word "underage" being significant here. But if it was up to me sex as well as porn would be a controlled substance along with liquor, cigarettes and the lottery.

I'm 23 and some 17 year old girls look older than me lol.

Different people mature differently, and some just have and older look or a younger look depending on genetics. So an instant your legal at 18 is one of those stupid laws we have all become used to, and accept even thou it doesnt make sense.

As the age gets more and more dicey, fewer and fewer businesses will go there as they don't want to loose customers over it.

Also, as the age gets more dicey, fewer girls would willingly volunteer to work in such an establishment.

You're not going to find too many 10 year olds that would voluntarily work as strippers when they could be sitting at home playing with whatever 10 year olds play with.

You're also not going to find too many parents that would acquiesce to having their 10 year old daughter work as a stripper.

Thus, "age" laws are fairly unnecessary in a free society.

Of course, anything that is INVOLUNTARY such as rape, slavery, servitude, etc.. should be illegal.

After reading the many interesting postings I would have to conclude that many are divided on what we would do if perhaps it was our 17 yr old daughter.

While I do not promote child labor, I do feel that if both parents provide permission, albeit perhaps not very patently like a parent, but I say if both parents approve, then it's not my business to force my morality on either the 17 yr old girl or the parents. We already have enough nannies trying to tell us what to do and how to do it. I don't want to be just another Nannie complaining because someone doesn't live their life like I think they should.

This same rule could apply to some youngster that wants to be in Hollywood movies and needs to be chaperoned and of course permission must be granted by the parents in regard to her role and what is expected of her role in the movie. While these business practices are for business, they include the parents and that is all that concerns me.

While there are those parents that would allow their children to act naked, others would not and as such, I still feel that if the parents are involved, that it is no ones business except those who must make it their business to ensure that no abuse or forced coercion is being applied to get some young girl to act or to strip for the money. Taking advantage of young kids doesn't just happen from strangers that like vampires are in it only for what they can get out of it. Sometimes those vampires can be our employers and or our parents.

When the State gets involved as long as the elected officials are being bribed by the Stripper Industry to pass legislation so the Strip Clubs can use younger and younger girls, then I don't see anything wrong with the State taking a position that covers what can and cannot be allowed when it comes to 17 yr old girls stripping for a living.

This issue will always be a polarized issue to most, but to me as long as the parents and the children comply with the law that the States provide, then to say it is wrong would be an issue that has taken on subjective terms that when mixed with emotion or religious ideologies can become a hot potato to discuss.

Spoken like a true capitalist. And liberals will get the blame for your lack of morals. Not that I really care about morals. I care about the end result and in many instances morals are like the walls that keep the water in the pool. Without morals this 16 year old girl has about a 75% chance of becoming a pathetic needy (wealthy but misunderstood and maligned) hooker and about a 25% chance of becoming a happy independent woman.

If she were my daughter I know what I would suggest.
