Some of my pics....seeing them in person is a zillion times better. Camera does no justice. Also the stars were absolutely amazing. Felt so close like you could reach out and touch them. Also, these arent as amazing as the one in the OP (outside of Fairbanks, AK):

Aurora Lights - Alaska

Aurora Lights - Alaska

Aurora Lights - Alaska

Aurora Lights - Alaska

Aurora Lights - Alaska

Aurora Lights - Alaska

Aurora Lights - Alaska

Aurora Lights - Alaska

Aurora Lights - Alaska

I sure do miss some things about Alaska....like this

Nothing special really, I see northern lights like these regularly, probably more often than I see the sun.
Yeah, my ancestors.. the sami people.

Here is another video I found of Aurora's FROM SPACE. It explains how the green is because of oxygen etc. Fascinating. First couple minutes talks about airglow and then aurora's come in. For a special treat the video captures the big Manicouagan crater in Northern Canada illuminated by the airglow. Very cool.

I thought a space view of the Aurora would best fit ATS taste.
