My thought is that it should have never came to this point in the first place. If Dems really thought this issue was so important, they should have passed it with or without Republicans. They have the numbers.

They, along with Reps, had no problems going against public opinion when they passed the bailouts, so why should this be any different?

Amazing how Americans, no matter which side of the issue, are getting labeled and threatened over this just because the Dems couldn't unite their own party to pass it.

Well first of all they were invited to the town halls, secondly the reason for the town hall meetings was to answer questions. The ones that didn't end up in shouting matches (the majority of them) never answered a single question addressed to them instead they danced around like a chicken with it's head cut off.

When they become so ignorant that they tell the town hall people, "Well my constituents said..." they just need to be voted out. After all these people are their constituents not the campaign contributors whom they were obviously referring to.

Doesn't really matter at this point as half of them will pry not have a job in the next couple years anyway.

Chances are they guy was threatened by some loony local person as any govt. official right now wouldn't be so stupid as to commit career suicide that way but then again I could be wrong considering these representatives don't even know what's in the bill and obviously haven't read it.

It really is time for Democrats to be honest with themselves.

(1) The House and Senate both have Democratic Majorities.
(2) The President is a Democrat.
(3) The President said he wanted a Health Care Bill passed before August.

(a) There is no Health Care Bill but THREE (3) different House versions and TWO (2) different Senate Versions, all FIVE (5) in Five (5) different committees.

Now since there are:

(b) Not enough Republican Votes to keep a Health Care Bill ANY Health Care Bill from passing if ALL THE DEMOCRATS are in favor of it GUESS WHAT?

IT SURE CAN'T BE THE REPUBLICANS HOLDING THE THING UP!

Wake up people.

The only thing, I repeat the ONLY thing that prevented there being a finished and complete version of a Health Care by August WAS THE DEMOCRATS...

Because...

There are not enough REPUBLICANS to STOP them!

Hello calling earth, hello earth?

For crying out loud people you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Now in case any of you Democrats actually believe that if the DEMOCRATIC CONTROLLED CONGRESS AND SENATE actually STICK TO THEIR DEMOCRATIC VALUES that they can't pass what ever they want because of REPUBLICANS...Repeat THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH REPUBLICANS TO STOP THEM.

The only party that can defeat a Democratic Controlled Congress, Senate and White House, Health's Bill is the DEMOCRATIC PARTY!

Duh!

Come on people what's it going to take to convince you THE ENTIRE GOVERNMENT is well as DUMB as WE ALL MUST BE if we really believe the republicans can stop the Health Bill.

It's a Dog and Pony Show, that's all.

It's your Bread and Circuses in a piss poor economy!

Please wake up, you are starting to cause me nightmares at night!

I saw that too. You're right as I perused Youtube the one thing I saw a lot of was angry old people and in other places complacent old people.

Honestly I saw a lot of old people.

But they all did seem to have a dead fish up on the podium.

When they become so ignorant that they tell the town hall people, "Well my constituents said..." they just need to be voted out. After all these people are their constituents not the campaign contributors whom they were obviously referring to.

And I don't disagree there either. I'm all about people voting them out.

To be honest, the shouters that we have seen videos of, the ones acting like complete children are in fact ruining what could very well have been a very cathartic process otherwise. If the ones who are deserving of it were shown to be the little ineffectual public servants they are, then more people might be swayed.

This is just another ill-fated attempt to follow through on what was at the outset well intentioned. It was tactics like this which lost the election, and these tactics will also lose the healthcare debate.

It's unfortunate we couldn't have a more productive dialog.

Doesn't really matter at this point as half of them will pry not have a job in the next couple years anyway.

See that's the thing. I would have much preferred to see folks who had issue with the bill ask well informed questions about the bill and let the politicians fall on their own face or stand on their own two feet.

Maybe America can't have an actual sane discussion. I hope that's not the case.

This whole situation is getting crazier by the minute, it's looking more and more like Chicago politics every day that passes. It's one thing for people to argue and loudly voice their concern but when it gets to the point of people being attacked and beaten and having people come to their homes to threaten them something needs to be done. If they don't calm this situation down something really bad is gonna happen.

I don't find it hard to believe the man, especially since he said that he filed a report with the local sheriff's department. But then again i'm from Chicago and this kind of political use of thugs to suppress the opposition is the norm around here, and they don't just use the unions either they recruit the gangs to help intimidate people. One thing's for sure if this violence continues and is linked to the administration Obama won't be caught with his pants down, others around him will but he won't.

I wonder what their trying to slide under our noses while we're all focused on this latest distraction

Ok, if he's reported it, it should be public record.
When is someone going to release his report or look into it?

I'd really like to know - public NEEDS to know - who he is saying came to his house, when, and how.

Cap and Trade would be my guess. While everyone is bickering over the Health Care Bill they will put through the Carbons Emissions tax and the price rises at the gas pump and in your electricity bill is going to squeeze you down into the povery level even if you are somehow still making middle class wages.

The redistribution of wealth as always is to the Banksters, Goldman Sachs (Washington) Citi Corp., (London) and B of A (Rome) are taxing us all into abject slavery and at best Health Care will be just one more enslaving tax we all have to pay ALL the time, at worse it will lead to population control and euthanasia.

Personally, I think the American people have patient for far too long with all the tom-foolery going on in government. One must add an exclamation point to a sentence to add emphasis and folks these rancorous town hall meetings are the peoples' exclamation point. For example, the legislature passed the unpopular TARP bill last year and many constituents railed against the bill through phone calls, emails, and letters. Yet, the legislature passed the bill regardless. People are still angry about that. So, a little anger is warranted given this legislature's current activities. One way or another their voices will be heard.

I feel bad for this guy. He's a concerned father, he wants to ensure to the best of his ability a means of helping his son, and because of the nature of any government run program, his son would likely be totally screwed.

As if everyone wouldn't be.

This threat tactic he experienced. God, how I wish some of these SEIU union thugs would pay me a nighttime visit.

They'd be found dead with deadly weapons in their hands, and only one person to tell the story.

One day, or one night, these thugs are going to meet someone like me, and either they're going to have to kill them, or they're going to die.

And then it's a new ballgame.

The gloves come off across the nation.

And the blame will be placed at the door of the White House - right where it lies.

The only good thing to come of such a thing, is a declared open season on ACORN members.

I am very supportive of people speaking their minds whether they're angry or not. But i do not support the use of violence to prevent others from speaking their mind.

People have a right to to be angry about the fact that these politicians, who seem to have forgotten that they work for us, are attempting to force something down our throats once again. Especially since they are determined to force down our throats something which they will exclude themselves and their family from.

People also have a right to be in favor of this healthcare bill and to voice their opinions about it. But nobody on either side of the fence has a right to violently attack, or to threaten people that disagree with their views.

They made it quite clear with that bailout that they no longer represent the American people, so if they want healthcare reform then they should come up with a bill in laymens terms give the people the opportunity and time to read it and then let the American people vote on it.

We are all just tired of these politicians that care only about the interests of the corporations and the elite making all of our decisions for us without regard for our wants and needs, without regard for our survival, without regard for our freedoms, without regard for what this country was intended to be, and without regard for the constitution .

I doubt that the man was trying to manipulate his son and use him as a "tool". It would seem more along the lines of him trying to help them actually see the people that this bill will effect. To help them see his son as a living breathing human being instead of a statistic on a piece of paper.

Yes i wonder about that also, maybe we should all take our focus away from this townhall meeting fiasco for a minute and place our focus on trying to find out what they're trying to slip under our noses this time.

You may very well be right about the cap and trade. What you said earlier is true if the dems really wanted this bill passed it would have already been done, there is a reason they are dragging it out for so long and the reason is more than likely they're trying to slip something else through. They seem to have become good at playing us like that.

...... at worse it will lead to population control and euthanasia.

I was 7 years old when that movie came out and I think I had nightmares for about a week!

Lets also consider that a rush to a Government Health Care Bill in time for a Government forecasted Swine Flu epedimic that they swear up and down will roar in like a lion come the fall, sure is going to give the Government and added edge in how Flu Treatments are adminstered.

I sometimes wonder if the guys in California see these movies and say, we ought to try that in real life some day, or if the guys in California make movies about things they know they are going to do in real life one day.

I wonder if a Tasty Box of Solyent Green will be the best source of nutrition in a post Codex world?

Um, what exactly is the man's complaint?

Is he complaining that he was politely asked to leave the meeting? No, he has no complaint against the police that did that.

Is he complaining that the health care plan won't help his son? Does his current health care plan help his son? How is the proposed health care plan going to change how his current health care plan covers his son? I don't know anything about his current arrangements, but I bet he gets a lot of assistance from Medicare and other government sources, both state and federal.

Is he complaining that he couldn't get an appointment with his Congressman to discuss the matter, so he was forced to hijack a public meeting where there were many other people who wanted to hear what he had to say?

I agree that he shouldn't have to be abused by pricks coming to his house at all hours of the night. But to consider that that must be a tactic endorsed by Obama or the Congressman, just because the guy has been scared by Obama haters is downright laughable.

I suppose that the lynchings by the KKK were an endorsed tactic by every President in the 20th century too?

I'm with you regarding the father's concerns at that town hall meeting. For him to be threatened like that in the middle of night is an outrage! I know if my son had an ailment like his son, and with the uncertainty throughout this bill; I would definitely raise my voice. I find nothing wrong with the way the man acted at that public forum.

If he breached the peace the police would have arrested him. These elected officials need to start acting on behalf of their constituents. I hope who ever was responsible for those threats is discovered and arrested.Lets keep the debate above ground, because if it goes underground, that is where violence hides.

Cameraman J. Mark Campbell talks to Sean Hannity about his horrific experience at a health care town hall meeting in Tampa. He had his own camera knocked out of his hands by union thugs. "This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me," he says.

Watching tape of the footage he filmed, he recounted the same union thugs attacking a father with cancers. "They just decided to bumrush," he says

www.youtube.com...

Watch this tiny little lady trying to protect her cancer stricken father from union thugs who blocked the door and shut her and her father out of the meeting , then they knocked the camera out of the mans hand that was filming.

The Government sure does work the way it's supposed too. The way the Powers that Be want it to. The Powers that Be are selling the agenda as a Liberal Agenda because as you might have seen the left is thrilled to be in power at the moment. It matters not one wit to them whether the things they are doing are typically left, or socialist, or communist, or neoconservative just that they are in power.

The point is I am making for people who really believe there are two parties, is because of party and majority rule the democrats who have that in both the legislative and executive branch could do what ever they want and have passed anything they wanted already.

They didn't want to, they wanted people on the street to fight about it, to turn the left against the right.

The system isn't working the way the people would like it too. If it was the Democrats would already have their Bill passed because the Democrats have the majority.

If it was the Republicans who wanted to debate and protest would actually be debating and protesting a real Bill.

Because if the system really worked the way it was supposed to the Democrats really would have come up with a real Bill, and the Republicans would really debate a real Bill and if the Democratic Congress People who felt the majority of their constituents weren't for the real bill weren't for it, they wouldn't vote for it because they wouldn't get reelected.

Now you have almost every real ellement here to make the left/right illusion seem real except one. It's a fight over nothing, for political theatre, for the citizen on the streets benefit because there is no Bill.

They will go back to Washington and pass the Bill they want, after they actually write what they want, and publish it before any real debate and get exactly what they want.

This is just there way of letting the people have a debate...a meaningless debate, because it is over nothing, because there is no real bill yet.

It's all an illusion, political theatre, bread and circuses and the major point is that the democrats who are so passionate about this to the point of violence have no cause to be, because nothing will stop the Bill except Democrats themselves.
