I have 2 kids.

I promise you, they will NOT be going to websites like this until they are 18 and can make their own choices for themselves.

And no, I wont let them touch my super awesome video games until they are of responsible age as well. They can play the kids games until then. And no i wont let them play WoW, EVER. lol GTA maybe.

*Trust me WoW is the worst game ever made (psycho-socially), I would know I just paid for 2 more months....

I'm sad that you are so close-minded and blinded by hatred that you don't understand that blocking this site is against the Constitution, not to mention free will. You can't block something simply because you like it or because some kids disobey their parents and go on it. If you block 4chan, there's nothing stopping them from blocking everything else they don't like.

You know, constantly bring up GTA and saying you're an addict to it isn't helping much in the argument. >_>

If they are at a buds house, and they say "Dude.. check this out! This army guy blows up a puppy!".. do you honestly, seriously think they will say "No, I must go, my dad wouldn't approve of this!"? omg.. you are truly oblivious to reality.

I think this particular quote is laughable, because it's been mentioned in this thread already that responsible parent A would make sure that his child will be monitored by fellow responsible parent B when RP-A is away from his child.

And regarding the GTA thing... only kids who are seriously disturbed in the first place would be influenced to kill because of a game. i grew up playing wolfenstein and doom in the 90s and they didn't influence me to kill. I am a marine however, but I didn't join because of video games and I certainly didn't join cause I enjoy killing.

Basically only already disturbed individuals are influenced by that stuff!

Plus humans DO HAVE a natural morbid curiousity.

Hey wait, isn't there an Internet Hate Speech Bill that is going to be going through the Senate soon? What if AT&T's actions are meant to provoke Anonymous into spamming the hell out of everything, and these actions will be used to speed rush the bill through the Senate?

What is this channel 4? (I don't have time to read all these posts, and don't understand from thr original post what it is). Is is blocked from your TV? Computer? What? What does ATT have to do with this channel?

It's already over, pretty much Anon is backing off at this point realize it's over. You have to realize 4chan in all it's tardy glory is absolute genius when it comes to things like this. Aside from some irregularity in AT&Ts stock price this morning, this thing is over.

4chan kicked AT&T and Censorship in the teeth this evening.

Anonymous image board. It's the gutter of internet. You shouldn't go there unless you're willing to risk your soul

It's been stated over and over that a good parent would monitor their child's time on the internet. Either you're not reading the posts or you're not responding on purpose to serve your own agenda. If your child is spending enough time on 4chan to scar him or her for life, then YOU, sir, are doing something horribly wrong as a parent. As I've stated, the boards that WOULD do such a think are listed under a category of 18+ boards, and have a warning upon entry, assuming they've never been there before.

You are not a parent, are you. If you are, you need help, and I'm serious.

Horribly wrong? lmao... you don't really know kids these days, do you. You can be a model parent, and if it's easy as typing 4-chan.com com into a browser window, there is NOTHING you can do that will stop them from visiting. The Internet is everywhere. Libraries, schools, cafes, friends homes, their own damn rooms! You think your speeches will stop them? Omg.. you are truly oblivious.

I was setting up Internet for a 12yo once, a male kid, in his room. I asked his parents "Would you like me to set up some content restriction?" They said "No, he is a good kid, that's no necessary." Ignorant fools. His older SISTER was actually yelling at his parents. "NO.. turn it ON!" And the kid was crying "I don't need that.. don't turn it on!" Hmmm.. if you don't want it on, there is a reason. Yet they had me not turn it on. So he could easily visit sites like this.

I realize many of you like sites like these, and are afraid you might lose access, and don't want that. It's not about censorship, it's about losing something you like.

Why don't you complain and protest about 17M movies? Oh yea... it doesn't affect you. OMG IT'S CENSORSHIP! How funny. A 17M movie is ok, because it keeps kids away, but a site that depicts the worst of the worst is "ok," because clearly, any kid who visits is obviously the kid of horrible, horrible parents, who can't keep tabs on their kids.

Brilliant...

Don't worry, they would ram their totalitarianism through no matter what. This just showed them there will be consequences, thats all.

I wonder if they used this as a sting to trace everyone and set up a "list"?

In reply to a couple of posts: I'm not unfortunate enough to have AT&T as a provider.

The ban is lifted for now, but don't be surprised when it comes back. All that happened is AT&T got a little scared, and now they're looking for legalities and PR-saving tactics. If they can't find any, well then good job. But this is AT&T.

I don't have their internet. I just have (some) info, and I can verify that the ban on img.4chan.org has not been "resolved" yet, even if temporarily lifted. I'm wondering if anyone can compare access between AT&T DSL and AT&T U-verse customers? My information might be restricted to one or the other rather than both.

I must agree to the fullest with you on your statement. My hunny is a melon popper. No head can survive his prowess. He can play all day, he is very very good at it. He is a strategist, and only plays first person shooter games. But off the game, he is nothing like what he plays. It doesn't linger on his mind once the game goes off, because it is after all, just a game. But, he is an adult. I do not agree with children under 15 playing the same games.

When in doubt, check 4chan status. Right now, it's reporting that all of the boards are down. This is usually due to either what I like to call a bubble (a small period of time where nothing loads for some reason and then loads again shortly) or the site is currently being DDoS'D again.

I agree! Instead of wasting so much time and energy calling AT&T, just change your internet provider. If it means changing your landline and cable, the do it.

Once a company like this gets blacklisted by consumers, they either change their ways or suffer the consequences of their violations.

Well that I agree with! I have a young daughter and I've stated elsewhere in this thread that I won't let her play these games til shes well into her teens. We don't even watch rated r movies unless its in the privacy of my wife and I's room.

"I don't support the site but this is ridiculous!"

Wha..?

What it ridiculous is not supporting a site... then defending it. If you don't know anything about it, why are you defending it for cripes sake?

It's sites like this that will get the Internet monitored with reduced access. This site is full of porn, bestiality, pedophilia and worse. There is no checks... you can just waltz right in. There are viruses galore as well.

Maybe some day, people will see it's sites like these, and games like GTA, that will be the linchpins in bringing down further freedoms. If you want depravity, do it on your own time, with pay services. Supporting crap like this is what is going to make the Internet a pain in the ass to use at all, and you idiots will be screaming then, I'm sure.

What is to stop a 12 yo from visiting this site.. and seeing the worst of the worst, from suicide videos, to porn, to worse? Nothing. And people complain about it. Unreal.

What a heartily ridiculous assertion. I'll deal with the easier one first.

"Games like GTA". Well, the good news for you is that buying a game is optional, you must pay for it, and you play it on your own time, as you stipulated. The games are clearly marked on the front of the package, and . . . well, I dont' know what to tell you. If you don't want your child to have games like that then you should consider doing your job as a parent and not buying them. Nifty, no?

What you have to realize is that none of this is about 4chan. Its about the principle that is being assaulted. Someone is trying to assert the right to say that if they don't like an internet site, then you have no business looking at it, no matter if you're a discerning adult that can make your own decisions. Not only that, but you're paying for the service that they are trying to censor from you. Are you going to let them?

And the battle begins all over again?

Looks like this is going to be a game of "whack the alligator?"

If this is serious that Comcast is doing it now, that the PTB are begging for the end of the Internet. They are starting it lol.

Check again man, and double check. Make absolute sure it was not a general error or something.

I am seriously falling asleep here.

You know, I'm done arguing with fleabit, so I'll leave it up to you. After all, it must be fate for you two to argue if the creation dates of the accounts are only 2 days apart.
