Just had the census idiot at the gate to my yard. My husband told
him to go away, he's tresspassing and he was demanding that we put our dogs away so he can get to our front door to tag it with his GPS. My husband
said again, "You're tresspassing. Leave." And the guy held up his "gold pass" (his words!) plastic ID card and said, "This is my golden pass."
Husband again says, "You're tresspassing." Idiot says, "Would you like to call the police?" To which my husband then opened the gate to STEP OUT
OF IT and the guy quickly returned to his car and LEFT. He never even asked the ONLY question that we legally must answer - how many people live here.
I guess that means he'll be back with his "golden pass" and the sheriff.
What's everyone else's experiences with these jerks and is there any way to prevent them from coming to the front door????? I have 2 large dogs in
the yard and the chain link fence goes all the way around the house. He cannot get to the door without coming through the dogs or being let in. My
strategy is to not even answer them when they're out there in the driveway if they come back. Good grief. I hate the government but I love my
country and this crap is just unconstitutional!

can't blame you for being annoyed by this census person. Why would your front door and not some other part of your house need to be GPS'ed? Don't
get it. why not simply the address marker on the curb. why not ask you how many people lived there. this guy sounds more like a creep with a fake
census ID than some actual govt worker.
In a small town maybe the sheriff would come by to "help" this census taker, but lucky for me I live in LA and no sheriff would waste his time
responding to this nut's call for census taking help.
personally I feel that the guy won't be coming back and that even he doubt the cops are going to have time to escort him back through your yard.
He could be some scheemer too, or some law firm's lacky trying to serve you with some BS paper work. I've had those guys try and pretend that they
are UPS or delivery guys. So you never know. besides the cops will favor with you for not letting some creepy guy into your house or property.

They're in the driveway. Don't hear anything yet and I'm not going to look out the window. The dogs are barking at them though.

exactly, they come around here all the time and I just don't answer the door. I am sure they GPSed the house but good for them I guess.
I am very curious to see how this comes out for you.
GOOD LUCK!

They cant kill you as good with a GPS guided bomb if it hits your driveway. It is much more effective if it hits your front door knob and comes into
the house before detonating.

Neither the census guy NOR the sheriff pulled into our actual driveway. They stayed parked in the street. The sheriff Deputy exited his truck and
census jerk was talking to him with his hands flailing everywhere. The cop just stood there. Then I saw the cop get back into his truck and sit there
for a minute with the door open. 10 seconds later, I look out and the cop has pulled away and left. Then I see census boy pull away and leave.
I would give $100 to find out what the cop told the jerk. He must have told him he can't enter our driveway because he was told not to tresspass??
Either way, they're both gone and census jerk has moved on to the next neighbor.
Here is the good ol' west, we still have cops that will stand up for our rights - or maybe that is just wishful thinking. I hope it's true though.
The fact remains that the jerk didn't do his job - he didn't find out how many people live here!!!!! We would have answered that question because
that's a perfectly constitutional question to ask. Demanding to tag our front door though is going too far. Now, for all the rest of you, put up a
chain link fence around the perimeter of your yard and throw a rottweiler out there.

You tell ME why they MUST tag the front door. Is it so they can shoot a missle at the front door without having to bother sending in the troops? You
tell me. Sounds paranoid, but hey, what could be any other reason for needing THE FRONT DOOR. He could have tagged the gate to my yard. He could have
walked over and tagged my garage door (which IS attached to my house and just the garage doors are outside of our fenced area.
We have 3 acres and our house sits in the middle of it, with the chain link around the "yard" of the acreage.

And census jerk is still sitting on our street. He is sitting at the corner where he would turn to leave the street. He's been sitting there since he
drove away from our house. Wonder what his next plan of attack is. Call in Homeland Security on us? He must be calling Obama's right hand man, Rahm,
to ask what they are suppose to do when they're not allowed to the door and the sheriff dept. won't help. Maybe he'll be told to just shoot us and
move on and that we won't have to be counted.
Oh, now he's leaving. He'll be back. He has to come back. Didn't count us.
