Possible source of mutation?

This may have been posted somewhere before...but I thought it should be seen by everyone.

Baxter: Product contained live bird flu virus

The company that released contaminated flu virus material from a plant in Austria confirmed Friday that the experimental product contained live H5N1 avian flu viruses.

And an official of the World Health Organization’s European operation said the body is closely monitoring the investigation into the events that took place at Baxter International’s research facility in Orth-Donau, Austria.
“At this juncture we are confident in saying that public health and occupational risk is minimal at present,” medical officer Roberta Andraghetti said from Copenhagen, Denmark.
“But what remains unanswered are the circumstances surrounding the incident in the Baxter facility in Orth-Donau.”
The contaminated product, a mix of H3N2 seasonal flu viruses and unlabelled H5N1 viruses

www.torontosun.com...

This section of the article is illuminating!

People familiar with biosecurity rules are dismayed by evidence that human H3N2 and avian H5N1 viruses somehow co-mingled in the Orth-Donau facility. That is a dangerous practice that should not be allowed to happen, a number of experts insisted.

Accidental release of a mixture of live H5N1 and H3N2 viruses could have resulted in dire consequences.

While H5N1 doesn’t easily infect people, H3N2 viruses do. If someone exposed to a mixture of the two had been simultaneously infected with both strains, he or she could have served as an incubator for a hybrid virus able to transmit easily to and among people.

That mixing process, called reassortment, is one of two ways pandemic viruses are created.

Well the vacation angle is a real possibility...also that the little town had a vaccination event. That is what I am going to look up right now...somewhere in the backlog of info I remember seeing that!

My SO was at the hospital a little while ago, and the facility is running out of flu testing kits. And this is just a "mild influenza." The pharmacies are out of Tamiflu (even though our county has no official case of H1N1), and the CDC has asked physicians to NOT prescribe it.

Just speculating....but....
could this bug be Phase I? H1N1/Swine has, so far, only produced mild symptoms (outside of Mexico). But it is *highly contagious*. It's not so virulent that it kills the host. Avian H5N1 is virulent but not so communicable.
Enter Phase II. Mix H1N1, which could happen when the bug sweeps through the Southern Hemisphere, with Avian H5N1, and you have a Superflu.
And Phase III begins.
Too far fetched?

@ Hx3_1963 Your Avatar?

Read this:

There's a popular medical thriller novel in which a global pandemic is intentionally set off by an evil plot designed to reduce the human population. In the book, a nefarious drug company inserts live avian flu viruses into vaccine materials that are distributed to countries around the world to be injected into patients as "flu shots." Those patients then become carriers for these highly-virulent strains of avian flu which go on to infect the world population and cause widespread death.

There's only one problem with this story: It's not fiction. Or, at least, the part about live avian flu viruses being inserted into vaccine materials isn't fiction. It's happening right now.

That is a very real possobility, not that i know a lot about the science of viruses but it is mixed, and right now its mild, it has the genes for the more deadly stuff already in it. I could see it happening. Once its spread and stays in a host for a while after the initial round, then if there is any left it mutates into a much worse version.

CDC: Flu Outbreak Is Becoming "More Serious"
www.cbsnews.com...
May 1, 2009 1:43 AM

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's top flu specialist has privately informed health care officials that the H1N1 virus is becoming a more serious threat, CBSNews.com has learned.

"We're now certainly starting to pick up more serious cases," Dr. Joe Bresee, chief of CDC's epidemiology and prevention branch of the influenza division, told health care providers on Thursday.

Bresee said on a private conference call that the situation is now "changing a bit," adding that H1N1's incubation period is between one and four days, and its infectious period is similar to seasonal flu at two to seven days.

Now that WHO has changed the chart, there basically is hardly any difference in people's minds between a 5 and 6, as the visual is given together in one block. Before they were seperated. Probably why they did that...make it shady, cause confusion, and not so many can figure it out.

One reason there may be a short delay in the 5 to 6 level...so many tests are not yet completed.

This may have been posted today, I dont recall....

As the world faces a potential pandemic, swamped labs are not testing all possible cases. Getting an exact tally has taken a back seat to finding new outbreak hot spots or ways to limits its spread, health officials said.

"The specimens are coming in faster than they can possibly be tested," said Dr. Jeffrey P. Davis, state epidemiologist in Wisconsin, where a lab helped spot the nation's first known case, in a 10-year-old boy from San Diego.

Looks like its not a question of "if" we bug out but more a question of "when".

More serious cases may mean that its started to mutate.

I dont know about most but stuck in town with a few hundred thousand sick people is not the place i want to be, even if i am locked in my house.
I'd rather load the camper and go in the mountians and camp for a while and ride it out.

This tells me that their number system is WAY off. and we are not being told the real story. Its been over a week since this was reported, and they are coming in faster than can be tested. Not a good sign.

I have to say this and know it is going to sound very "far out" but let me preface by saying ever since a certain person in my life died I have had odd "signs" communicating their presence and guidance to me ok. REALLY.

Now I was reading your post and you were saying much the same as we here have been thinking in our house but were not totally sure about as so much is speculation at this point when all of a sudden this loud whirring noise starts up in my kitchen , some 15 feet from this room I'm in. I go into the kitchen and recognize it is a fan built into the skirting of our kitchen that is making the noise, so I bend down to check it out and it is in the "on" position which has to be manually pressed in order to turn on. It turned itself on "all by itself" which has never happened ever before !!

I didn't knock it accidentally either - if it is knocked by the hoover for example you hear the loud noise start up immediately and I was sat in here a full 5 minutes after going out there to make a cup of tea before the noise began.

What WEIRD timing, it truly felt like a sign, as fruity as that might sound. I mean a sign that you are along the correct lines of thinking.......

Sorry, I'm a bit spooked here.
