Sorry, but it was during the Clinton Administration thatit was decided anyone should get a loan and it helped with the internet boom that was being experienced. So everyone invested their earnings in real estate and 401k type investments. They watched it grow and called themselves millionaires based on value not liquid assets.,Then they got credit cards with 10k limits and home equity loans. Those who could not survive the 90's (they were there) had to then sell to recoup and wound up going from stock millionaires to cube monkeys again. The rich got richer off of those who used their cash. Now there is no cash, no 401ks and the housing market is #. People living beyond their means and buying 350k homes with no verification is part of what got us here. That was an excellent point.

Bush is silent because of the respect of the office.

The Neo Con Doctrine commenced as the Reagan Revolution. Regan was the first Neo Con. It is the single most significant and the underlying CAUSE of the economic calamity we are now in the midst of.

The Reagan inspired dismantling of the regulators started in 1981. I do hope your memory is not so short OR so selective that you have conveniently forgot or just lack the recall that it was the GREAT COMMUNICATOR himself who so glibly recited, “The government is the problem, NOT the solution!” And then RR often followed that up with his BRILLIANT one liner solution, “Get the government off our backs!

THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE 2007-2008 ECONOMIC MELTDOWN. NOT BILL CLINTON.

FROM Ronnie Reagan forward EVERY Republican has worked to DISMANTLE or by calculated STAFF reductions, to render ALL regulations useless and the remaining regulators incapable of doing their legally assigned mission. The regulations by the way worked well from 1933 until 1981. 48 years of success!

Then, as you rightly remarked, Bill Clinton took office in 1993. That was TWELVE years after the Neo Con Reagan Revolution. So what did Bill do? He RAISED taxes and by 1999 he had a balanced budget and in 2000 had a $150 billion surplus!

But in the 1994 America was CURSED with Newt Gingrich and his “Contract with America.” The country had a REPUBLICAN controlled congress from 1995 until 2007. In fact the Newt Gingrich Congress HATED Bill Clinton so much they wasted FOUR years of work that ended in the impeachment of Clinton. WHICH if you have forgotten, FAILED!

The followed the BUFFOON MAJOR, America’s FIRST - and LAST we hope - DESIGNATED president, courtesy of the 5 to 4 vote at the Republican pay-back time Supreme Court. Never again can anyone say the Supreme Court is ABOVE politics! It is as down and dirty as any Congressman or President ever thought about being. Those of us claiming to be smarter than 5th graders knew all along the SC was pure politics but the RED state types never seem to catch on! Hmm?

And now come the era of historical REVISIONISTS as in the Old Soviet Union days who try to rewrite history to make their own BORN AGAIN BUFFOON president into something you can LOVE even if you CAN’T respect him!

RESPECT is earned, not rewarded. Bush is QUIET because he has NO respect. Those 4,300 KIA HE gave us in Iraq can’t do that, can they? They can neither love him nor respect him. For they are NO MORE. And the 1000s yet to die as we work our way out of the Bush Cheney Rumsfeld Rice QUAGMIRE.

If you don’t remember your history, you will have to repeat it.

pfft, deserves my silence....what possibly could he say that is that hurtful? The guy is totally not relevant. His whole last year in office was marked by his own silence, its like he was watching CNN all day looking at what Hilary and Obama were doing.

Obama should say "bring it". Bush would be too chicken to say anything bad after what he did, I dare him.

Well...as much as I love cats.....your avatar is annoying.

BUT, that's not the gist of my reply.

Is there an Historian present who will refute the fact that at the end of the Clinton Presidency the United States was enjoying a positive growth period, as well as a Balanced Budget....and not a 'deficit', but a Positive growth in GDP????

AND THEN, GWB was 'installed' as "President".... and all hell broke loose....

Reminds me of certain personal decisions I've made in MY lifetime.....except, I only screwed up my life, and not an entire Country's...

Exactly. I think Bush is correct, it does deserve his silence because he has no ground to stand on to criticize anyone.

A big
to Bush for knowing his place in history.

Bush didn't cause retarded Americans who make 30k a year to buy 450k homes.

But he did support the deregulation which allowed that to happen.

Bush listened to what the people wanted after 9/11. Remember my fellow patriots, you as well as I screamed for blood after 9-11, so we caused this mess as much as he did.

Wow. You might have screamed for blood. Thankfully we're not all that stupid. People like you are the reason the world hates us.

After 9/11 I was screaming for LESS BLOOD. I was screaming for the victims of such a senseless false flag.

Bush really can not say much, as he paved the path the U.S. is on...with the nationalization of the Banks, the Patriot Act, Bretton Woods...Bush sold the U.S. out!

Is Bush putting this in his book???

Hugo Chavez Teases Bush About the Nationalization of American Banks, calls Bush "Comrade...Source

Socialist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez mocked George W. Bush as a "comrade" on Wednesday, saying the U.S. president was a hard-line leftist for his government's intervention of major private banks in the U.S. financial crisis.

Chavez, who calls capitalism an evil and ex-Cuban leader Fidel Castro his mentor, ridiculed Bush for his plan for the federal government to take equity in American banks despite the U.S. right-wing's criticism of Venezuelan nationalizations.
