Eh, it's a free country, people can listen to him if they want.

I personally can't stand him. He sometimes has very valid points. But his format... I utterly hate it. He does his shtick for shock value. He is NEVER wrong, ever. Everyone he opposes is ALWAYS wrong, no matter where they stand on any issue. He is full of hate, and a lot of hot air.

He acts as if he is all-knowing and perfect... which I find ironically funny, considering he is overweight, and had a serious addiction to pills.

But.... he is loud and obnoxious, and this sells for some folks. It's the same reason the over-the-top talk shows did well. He'll always have a base of fans, not much you can do about it. But unlike he thinks, he is NOT all-knowing, he talks big, but I doubt he could solve any of our problems if he were in charge of anything. He just enjoys pointing out how much everyone else fails. I think it empowers him. Disgusting man though, imo.

Rush is what he is. He like others from both sides of the spectrum of leaders and commentators are just dividing tools to separate people over differences of opinion when the core of most people is about the same. It is akin to pointing at each other and pointing out one's hairy mole or hair lip over and over.

I would say I am fiscal conservative but, make my own rules regarding morality and guide my own path. Unless both sides come to middle ground and make compromises there will always be separation between people while hateful commentators and politicians really don't make real change rather they spread disease.

Yep.
A great example is r.l.'s "Barack the Magic Negro" song. A parody of "Puff the magic dragon".
Racist much rush?????

This is a great example of ignorance displayed by Rush haters.

The liberal LA Times pinned Obama with "The Magic Negro" tag. Paul Shanklin, a parodist much like Weird Al Yankovich, made a song about it, then it ended up of Rush's show.

How in the blue heck can someone point out racism, then get pegged as a racist for doing it?

Here is the start of the Magic Negro, by the liberal LA Times.

www.latimes.com...

I didn't say he wrote it but he promoted it on his radio show.
He talked about it on his radio show.
He approved of it on his radio show.
How do I know this? I personally heard him talk about it and play it on his radio show.
I wonder who's really ignorant here?

The song was first aired on The Rush Limbaugh Show in 2007, prompting criticism of the show's host, the conservative political commentator Rush Limbaugh. A year later, Chip Saltsman, a candidate for chairman of the Republican National Committee, sent out CDs containing the song, prompting a widespread negative reaction.

Sorry my friend but at 6 if you got a peirced ear and your a BOY, it sounds to me like he was RAISED and groomed to be that way. Like I said, I respect your opinion or anyone's on this topic, but I WILL NOT believe that your born that way. Its and end to the human race to be gay, or atleast an end to the NATURAL way humans have produced and lived on for thousands of years.

Sorry to derail, but had to say that to my man SWAT..lol

well he did have three older sisters soooo... you do the math

The difference, my wife sports her obama bumpersticker....

This person had to pull out a pen, write something down, and in a fit of rage slam it against their window.

Do you see the difference? Sure they have the right to free speech, that's not what I'm bringing out...

What I'm bringing out is the histrionics that Rush supporters exhibit.

Now they have the right to be histrionic... I'm just saying they are...

That is kinda amazing. I mean I hate Obama but do NOT have the time nor mindset to write down anything on the highway and display it to you or your wife...lol. People can be amazing, but lets not forget, during the elections you have the Obama/Left supporters stealing Mccain signs, destroying property of supporters, etc....

Bottom line is some people just lose it, and act out in ways that we will never see as normal.

How do you get pegged as a racist by pointing out the racism of others. Specifically the liberal LA Times?

Sorry I missed your question.
I assume you're referring to rush being a racist?
If so, the reason I would tend to think he is, would be that he played and promoted that song as mentioned before, "barak the magic negro".
Let me know if this doesn't answer your question.
Thanks.

Thanks for answering the question to the best of your ability.

Rush is a racist for pointing out that the LA Times made the racist statement by calling Barack Obama a Magic Negro.

Under the same conditions......you pointed out that Rush is a racist....what does that make you?

I think you're missing the point.
Rush didn't point out that the LA times was racist for calling barack obama the magic negro.
Rush made a regular point of playing the song and laughing about it. In other words, rush ENDORSED and gave VALIDITY to the song by SUPPORTING it.
Do you understand the difference???
He did not condemn the song, he did the EXACT OPPOSITE.
Hopefully that clarifies the reality of what REALLY happened.

Forgive me if someone already posted what I'm about to post as I only read the first and last page because frankly I find the whole topic surrounding this cult figure on the far right quite nauseating and rather boring to say the least. Nevertheless my perspective on things may help shed light on what appears to be this man's vast popularity when in fact it's quite the opposite.

First, his approval ratings are down about as low as Bush's were, so in that sense he isn't overly popular.

Second, his program is syndicated on a lot of stations mostly AM and many are in rural areas. The signals at many of these stations are often not very powerful, and their individual respective ratings and reach is many times quite limited and rather small. It's when you add them all up that you get the large audience total. Aggregately you have a large number, but individually, often the station that carries his talk show is often at or near the bottom of the heap of stations.

Thus, his importance, and relevance is greatly inflated and exaggerated by a national media in search of some answers and a spokesperson for a party who has a flawed ideology and failed in policy and power. Indeed all of the extra national attention has worked out quite nicely for Rush who enjoys so much free publicity and allows him to secure multi million dollar contract extensions while you and I struggle to hang on to our jobs and homes.

While we struggle and hope to weather the storm, hoping for a bull to emerge with some longevity, this idiot goes on the air daily defending and trying to explain his desire and intention for Obama to fail. Even more bizarre in my opinion is that the national media gives him so much attention and fan fare...oh but isn't this the same "liberal" media he rants on and on about every day...the so called "drive by" media?

Folks with a half a brain know better, and avoid such uneducated drivel. The man is a liar, a drug addict, a glutton, and a rich fat pig drowning in cash and his own self serving vanity. If you enjoy spending three hours of your life each day patronising this arrogant elitist then by all means tune in and be of the cult of dittoheads!

If this thread wasn't about Limbaugh, I would swear you were talking about Mr. Barack Obama.

At least Limbaugh has said he quit using drugs....Mr. Obama has never made that statement.

I noticed that you didn't respond to my post about rush promoting the "barack the magic negro" song.
You do know he did PROMOTE the song right? He didn't condemn it but supported it.
Just wanted to make sure you were aware of the reality of the situation.

Rush is a clever propagandist, and a great many people are fed up with the anti-white racism and anti-male sexism constantly coming from the left. I can't stand Rush, but I don't like what I hear from the left either.

I'm a white guy. While for a few years during the early 90's, Oprah and a few other talk shows would have a segment on "what white guys did wrong," it was merely the releasing of decades, maybe centuries of pressure and resentment. It wasn't long ago that women and blacks won the right to vote. To me, the reaction to "white male persecution" from people like Limbaugh, should be expected. But it's a little silly and whinny. The "attacks" on White Males, are on STUPID White Males. Personally, the threats are very low, the barriers no greater than anyone else has to make a living, an

The real anger towards Limbaugh, is that he is a tool of propaganda to maintain the status quo. When people need to be misdirected, to start blaming illegal immigrants for their poor wages, people like Hannity, Neal Boortz, Rush Limbaugh, and others are on the job.

9 of every 10 hours in the media, is for a Conservative position. The majority of America, when poled, is consistently LEFT of center. The Democrats, enjoy a substantial voter margin over Republicans. In every location where a Progressive like Thom Hartmann is on the radio, he gets almost twice the audience as Rush Limbaugh -- but it is hard to compete with 600 radio stations with more wattage when you have 50 low-watt stations broadcasting a Progressive show. The highest ratings for any MSNBC show was with Phil Donahue. Fox News, lost millions of dollars for 5 years, and paid about $10 per subscriber to get access to them. In New York, they traded good press for Guillianni's intervention in the courts to force them on the air.

Multinational corporations own most of the Media -- about 5 account for 80%. No matter who is in charge of that or what their agenda -- that's too much consolidation.

Rush and Hannity make over $100 Million a year, because they support the de-regulation, the anti-unionization, and the globalization that robbed America of it's wealth, living wages and liberty. They also make a lot of stuff up, and repeat it until folks are convinced its a fact -- and I won't belabor a point that has a half dozen movies and a few hundred websites devoted to the inaccuracies.

Now they bitch about the "fairness doctrine" which does nothing to control what they have to say. They just want to consolidate their 9 to 1 advantage, and to not ever be called on the facts.

Did they support the song or did they just report on it?
If they supported the song, then yes, they are racists.

Rush didn't point it out and made fun of it. HE PROMOTED AND SUPPORTED THE SONG. Do you understand the difference?
I've heard the shows where rush played the song and agreed with what it said so you can't tell me that he "made fun of the song".

Hoo boy. Well let's see.

I listen to Opie and Anthony. I listen because they entertain me. Opie and Anthony often get very political.

Now, if I were to develop political views because of Opie and Anthony that would make me an utter moron.

I don't know much about Rush, but I'm pretty sure that he's often trying to be funny. That's cool. If it weren't for comedy in my talk radio I would've run a few old bags off of the road when they do that "cut me off and slow down" crap. If you aren't commuting to work or school and you're on the road between 8 and 9 you should get cancer.

But I digress.

I'm sure Rush believes much of what he says when it concerns economics and political policy. There should be as many of these opinions in the public as possible. These are tough subjects. This is commendable. Also I'm guessing that Rush recognizes the importance of the 2nd amendment. This is fantastic.

Now, as far as social issues go, the people nodding in agreement with Rush over gays, drugs, women, etc. should just stay in their section of the country and not come to the coasts where they can annoy me. It's these people that have forced the GOP into becoming a retarded mutant that genuinely believes that Sara Palin was the right choice. It's their fault that I had NO CHOICE in who to vote for...

Oh well, hopefully the Republicans can learn from their mistakes.

Look -- I think it's a great thing that Archie Bunker has a following. That he can't just go out and call someone an uppity negro. He has to use code words like "urban." All the problems in this country, are to do with "people not like us."

I actually know a few guys who are really, HUGE closet racists. When I'm around, and no minorities, you can really tell that they feel a lot more comfortable with all the fancy intellectualizing of their fears. Not all Limbaugh listeners are closet racists, but all racists are closet Limbaugh listeners.

The KKK was only disappointed that Bush didn't go far enough. He teased them with his hatred of brown people -- and ended up betraying them for lining his pockets and his friends with green. Up until that point, they were huge supporters. It wasn't that all Conservatives were racists, but it was pretty interesting, that all racists were only comfortable being conservative.

I'm only in the Liberal camp now, because I care about Liberty, the Constitution, Fairness, a Living Wage. I've yet to meet anyone who wants to make America worse, capitulate to Chinese Communists, or any of the other theories proposed by Rush Limbaugh. Seriously, the Left never seriously flirted with Communism, but we sure as heck have been close to Fascism -- like three months ago. The Limbaugh-Liberal is about as real as the tooth fairy. I think it's insane that we spend more than other countries per person on health care, and then spend again much more when we actually use the services that these other Crazy Socialists get at half the price. ON most any statistic, the US is falling behind. We have shorter lifespans than most people in Europe. We are LESS LIKELY to move out of poverty in America than in Europe -- 40% upward mobility vs. about 65% on average, while the Dutch have a whopping 80% record.

Even our penis size is shrinking. Really. A decade ago, the average American penis was bigger. Is it estrogen in the water, or estrogen-like molecules in plastic? Yeah sure, some people can rationalize all the crap in the food and the lack of inspections for the sake of all mighty profits -- many somehow rationalize that the huge increase in mercury in our corn syrup laced food and immunizations didn't have anything to do with the huge uptick in Autism. But did anyone NEED Viagra a decade ago?

I don't expect any fans of Rush Limbaugh, to sit up like they got struck by lightning. Because these people have never been interested in truth. They just want an echo chamber where they can hear outrage at all the people who are not like them. IN this world, they are heros, and godly, just by doing exactly the same thing as yesterday. If someone attacks them for eating fast food, driving SUVs, or ignoring how our military is used to steal resources -- well they are just an America-hating Commie. Regardless of the fact that this represents MOST of the nation.
