The thing yawl are missing is the central 'peak' is a depression not a mound

This thing on Mars maybe an impact crater but for something really odd lets talk about the Hexagon Vortex on the south pole of Saturn. Now no one has yet came up with any answer for that one. We will never know what these things out there are until we get there which may never happen. And if and when we do get to see some of those things upclose there is a good chance we will know no more than we do now about them.

If the central feature is indeed a depression, then the thing is probably a very large sink hole. We get those on Earth in arctic areas as well when the permafrost melts.

That area was also photographed by HiRISE, and we can see photos with a 25.9cm per pixel resolution here (Summer?).
