funny thing how some people hate idea of equal distribution of power, wealth and goods among all people

yes, it is called socialism

to be against socialism is to be against basic principals of equal rights for all

to be against socialism is a symptom of lack of basic knowledge about life in general
(not just OP's)

why would anyone want to equally share wealth when you can selfishly take all by yourself (and kill many people with hunger as a consequence)?

That is the point. "Socialism" (the word/label) is being thrown around like "communism" was.

Maybe if we come up with a new label to express how we should treat eachother/ourselves in the way we live in the now there wouldn't be such repulsion to caring for one another and wanting everyone to prosper.

Obvious how we are living together right now isn't working for OUR greater good.

Your entire posting is the whole main premise of an organization I'm building up! So glad to see the idea has support.

It's better to stop losing money by not spending on taxes, than to put money into the DOW, you'll lose 20-30% this year. Most of the forecasters are betting on the DOW dropping another 20%, and with that 'Stimulus swindled us', it guarantees that this will drag on another 2-3 years.

Something I learned last semester in economics 101 (never truly aware of beforehand):

A wealthy, capitalist country has within its great wealth the far greater capability to help the poor, elderly, disabled, and down-trodden than any socialist or communist system. Because of the past (I say "past"...doubt it will exist from hence forth) great wealth of the U.S., we have had the luxury and extra time to complain about economics not being fair, or to help those less fortunate than ourselves via charaties or our own time, or to complain about animal rights (you think a starving person in a third world country cares about animal rights?), or to go to other nations around the world to help those hungry or in need with our extra cash...

These will all be a thing of the past, once socialism speads throughout...by limiting the ability to obtain wealth, yes, all of us will be more on an even playing field, but then we will no longer be the wealth distributor for those in need...we will not have the extra wealth, especially needed by those who will be turned down for health care because they are considered "hopeless" cases (I truly hope this doesn't happen)...except those in charge, they'll have extra wealth...you know, some pigs are more equal than other pigs...but highly doubtful those in charge will want to part with their wealth...

Bring to mind all the charities and causes that have been supported by contributions from very wealthy individuals, such as Bill Gates...

After taking economics 101, I'm now convinced the free market, capitalist system is the only way to go...the only true means of helping those less fortunate (of course provided there are safety nets in place, which already do exist, to help those vulnerable and unable to work)...

WRONG! Socialism is a lightly watered down version of communism, because communism is so disgusting to so many Americans, those people needed a new word, hence socialism was born! American Liberalism on the other hand used to equal what you mentioned above.

Progressive is now the new word for socialism/communism because people have learned socialism is the same exact sickness like communism. So now that that word is ruined, we now have people changing to Progressivism. They are all the same disgusting sickness. And no amount of water downed koom-by-ya is gonna change that fact!

If we lived in a true world of supply and demand econ101 might be relevant. But we don't! Not with speculation and corporate subsidies and a stock mkt. so corrupt and distorted it has little relationship to reality. Not to mention a banking system that more resembles an organized crime numbers game than capitalism.

We don't live in a capitalist society; we live in a Corpratacracy which in actuality is Socialism/welfare for the Corporation's; the taxpayers be damned. Tax the mom and pop entrepenures like hell and give the corps all the breaks; they got the fancy tax lawyers to find every tax loophole available and offshore accounts to hide the swag. If that's capitalism; it sucks!

Most of the right wing nuts in this thread think Socialism is what Rush tells them it is. They wouldn't know real socialism if it bitem in the butt. Most of the Rushbots think giving a pitiful few dollars to welfare people is socialism actually when the megacorps pull the political strings it's closer to Socialism than most conservatives can even conceptualize.

On a more serious note, I think the problem IS lazy workers. If they were smart, they would not work for a living, they'd own for a living. That's right baby, the best way to make money is government enforced property rights, government issues deeds/licenses for properties, issues money, we chase after the money they issue to give their property value...it all makes sense! Some systems actually expect people to work to get rich, not ours, that is the part everyone screws up, don't WORK for a living, OWN for a living. It is much easier.


Of course, people forget the problem is that US workers are simply to expensive, we have opened up unmitigated trade with thirdworld poverty enriched countries, our only comparative advantage was high tech, until we shipped that off too. The only way we will be able to compete is to lower our standard of living down to where we are attractive for multinationals to come and drive us as borderline slaves.

Corporatism (Fascism) is our problem. What's happening in the US is not Socialism. Just quasi-socialist policies used for the wrong purpose. It's not completely free-market either, but you get the point. I like the idea of splitting the USA, another cold war would be great fun for everyone.

To the ignorant who say socialism is good, you have no sense about what the system of profit and personal opportunity has brought to the world. I suspec that you are all spoiled brats that try to make yourselves feel better by taking what you think is the "politically correct" view ...

The truth is its human nature for people not to give a crap about others, and to be greedy. And the people who will rule over you will be exactly this way, except that you will NO LONGER have the ability to be that way too. Which makes you slaves.

I worked hard to get where I am in life and to make the salary that I do. I matter only because of my achievements, and it is my skill that allows me to live a life that many would otherwise think I do not deserve. Deep down inside, I know that many people still don't even see me as a full human being.

For those who cry for socialism, you have no idea what it is to live in a society with no dreams, no promise and no future. You don't know what it is to live without the basics...I'm not talking about XBox, Netflix or Hot Pockets...I'm talking about life without running water, electricity and privacy.

Part of me wants to see the US become socialists so I can see all of you fools who support it suffer. If it happens I will be long gone.

Do you see the storefronts around you emptying out? I do. What's going to happen when all of the businesses go away? Will they still make IPhones?
