It should be pointed out that many of the people enforcing martial law, police, guard troops ect, also have families and pay mortgages and wait for a paycheck like most of us. In Northern Michigan where I live, My friends that are police are closer to thier community than to state or national govt. Of course if the poop hits the AC so to speak, I don't know how they will react, or what might be done to keep them doing thier job.

I would think the PROMISE of that paycheck you mentioned. Especially if they have a family, mortgage, etc. It is sad, but in the event of the worst case scenario, the pawns that will be used to control the rest of us will be well cared for, at least for a while. And then again, I could be wrong, there may actually be men (and women) of honor in the ranks.

Im sure i could round up 90% of Americans in one hit.Just hold country wide auditions for pop idol, survivor, biggest loser e.t.c in one super special hyped up reality tv day.The masses would be flocking to the Auditoriums/holding pens.
Than lock em in and tell them its a trick and they are all actually participating in a mega big brother and heres there chance to get rich and famous.Just keep feeding them the lie.

Easypeasy!

Wait there already doing that....

I entirely agree of how it will happen in America.

People don't care about things being taken, until they feel the pinch directly.

No one cared when Bush decided you could be held without charge indefinitely. Americans rolled on their backs and let it all happen, because it wasn't happening "to them".

The violence will start when the protests do.
A perceived injustice will escalate things, and it'll spread. More injustice, and it'll spread further.

There really is a definite risk of this being a severe turning point in American history, if Obama doesn't perform a miracle and stop the unemployment from rising. That is what is causing the rumblings.
While it's billions of $ being paid out (which is out of our control or comprehension really), slight tax increases and a few businesses going bust, there's not much the average person will feel, as long as they have a job to do.

As long as few feel the damage, there's a chance it can be controlled and feelings kept contained.
But there will be a tipping point.
And I think that point will come just after two of the major car manufacturers inevitably close. Or when the protests start in California.

Personally, I think we went past the point of no return on this financial crisis before we even knew there was a crisis.
I think it's inevitable that we're all in for very turbulent times ahead, and several governments will fall at the angry hands of the people.

And I look forward to it. Maybe then we can truly change our countries for the better, start again with controlled governments who actually work for the people rather than for themselves.

Are these countries not more socialistic in their policies? When things go south, who do they have to blame but the government? The government is the source of their wealth and prosperity, and their downfall. So they take to the streets.

Why have we not seen such protests in the United States? Because we realize that we are the only ones who can solve these problems - such is the case when you have a system that is disproportionately controlled by the people (aka, markets) rather than the government.

Socialism and personal responsibility are inherently at odds with one another, as you can see with the conditions in Europe.

I just don't see how "The Great Provider" will be able to pull a miracle out of his aaa Hat.The world wide economies are so intertwined that it will be a domino effect. The changing of the guard in Iceland is just the beginning.
This is going to be a deep sloppy muddy wallow, very few will come out clean. They will have to walk on the backs of the fallen.
All we can do now is sit back and watch it happen.

I wonder what the governments are going to do. If people get out of control then I guess Martial Law could be possible.

But it's good to see that people are starting to do something. People are starting to see the corruption.

My guess is that the US is next. I don't know when but I hope soon enough.

Corruption????

All these stories coming out about how Europe is plummeting into darkness... and the vast majority are sensationalist media claims. Europe is a very big place.. its like saying that a protest in a town in China means that the country is collapsing.

Europeans are used to and determined to show their governments that if they -SNIP- up, they can be thrown out. Thats what happens after millennia of monarchy overthrows and war where in the end, the people took over.

Protests and riots are completely justified to show how the people are in charge... not the government... and governments deserve to be shaking in their boots now because of the allowance of squandering of wealth and income.

We own our countries, our property and our money.. I and millions of other people in the Eu would be happy to give the two fingers to our governments and throw them out on their asses if squander our wealth and hard work.

Its about time for all the west to show our governments who's boss and the French took charge and showed the French government, the EU and the western world who is boss.

Well done to them.

All it takes is for a few angry and determined individuals to get things started and from there we could have the makings of a world wide change.

I am with our European comrades in spirit and I wish them well and thank them for their courage and fortitude.

Hopefully they can show Americans what can and must be done.

Viva la revolucion

Wow all of you people that say that our government cannot hold us down I laugh at you.
Our government has bent us over and raped us six ways from sunday and what have we Americans done? Nothing.
We are watching trillions of dollars be pillaged from us to go to the banks and what do we do? Nothing.
We watch our rights get slapped away with things like the patriot act and warrantless wiretaps and what do we do? Nothing.
We watch as our currency is destroyed to save a broken system which enriches the few and what do we do? Nothing.
We actually have slave numbers and are forced to pay into a broken government who only looks out for their interests and what do we do? Nothing.

People think long and hard about this and please study the American Revolution of 1776. Our founding fathers went to war for a LOT less than what we are taking today. It sickened me to watch over 2 million people march on Washington for Obamas inauguration but yet only a few thousand for the rally for the republic. Vladamir Putin summed it up when he told Bush "Your propaganda by far is the best in the world" and it is. Hey at least we get to watch the Superbowl who gives a crap about freedom the European citizens will stand up for us.

Seeing that the governments cannot take care of us because of their greed then perhaps we should build a very large complex computer to take the governments over. I am sure that the computer would do a better job to provide law and order and job for the masses and they cannot be bride with any amount of money. I seem to remember some movie about something like this a few years ago.

Coast2Coast has forecast this for years and people are finally waking up to the truth.

We should have voted the bums out after the bailout but the sheeple buried their heads in the sand.

I wish I could be optimistic about something but the glass is half full of crap.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

The government would not need to "round us up". All they have to do is shut off access to food and fuel. People become compliant when they are cold and hungry.

I believe that the movie you refer to was "Colossus: The Forbin Project". That movie did not have a very good ending for humanity.
Here is the synopsis if you are interested.

I really get a kick out of the "martial law" across our Country talk.

Do you know nothing about American's? whether you are from here or not?

Could you imagine trying to round us up? We can't even round up gangs in our cities. You think insurgency is a problem in the middle east? Those guys would be so embarrassed after seeing our "insurgency" that they would be begging to belong to the ACLU.

Do you think everybody in the government and the military are a bunch of follow the nazi drones? They weren't raised that way. They have watched too many movies....John Wayne, Jack Rynn, and Jack Bower are role models.

Sorry, but the United States of America is impossible to take over and there is no force great enough on Earth to inprison us all.

I assume that those of you that believe in any of this, MUST believe that some ET's are working with our government to pull this off. ( I wonder if I can afford a couple shares of RJ Reynolds stock).....the guys that make the aluminum for your hats.

I'm sorry but I will not allow ignorance like this on ATS.

And how you got so many stars on your post makes me even more concerned.

#1. They already have you imprisoned in ways that are clearly over your head.

#2. Have you read Executive Orders 10990 - 11004?

#3. I don't even think they need to round us up... They will use Quarantine on us like they did with the people in New Orleans... Yes, many people tried to leave the city on foot but they were unable to do so... (Blackwater?)

#4. why would they want to get gangs off the streets? Gangs give them an excuse to build more prisons. And so do drugs. Gangs and Drugs give them a reason to create unconstitutional laws, create jobs, and violate our rights.

#5. The United States is impossible to take over? Well I guess we should have no problem telling Israel to get the hell out of the Gaza strip. And if you think America would be victorious if a World War happend .... You are so mistaken it's not even funny.

#6. Who said anything about our military taking us over... most of our military wil be over seas.

“"Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will pledge with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government."
- Henry Kissinger in an address to the Bilderberger meeting at Evian, France, May 21, 1992.

(in an address to the Bilderberger organization meeting at Evian, France, on May 21, 1991. As transcribed from a tape recording made by one of the Swiss delegates. )”

7. When the SHTF they won't even have to round you up... You'll be crying for the Government and FEMA to come and save you.

The US doesn't need anyone to take it over. The American citizens have freely given it away in bits and pieces. Most of our infrastructure is owned by foreign entities already. Much of the commercial real estate in the US is owned by foreign countries and entities, and much of our debt is to countries such as China, Japan and OPEC countries. I could go on, but I think most people realize that WE don't own our country anymore. The Fed fiat system has made sure of that, and Congress is complicit in this treason.

Its funny, I was watching "The Running Man" on tv. If anybody has seen it or not seen it look at the intro and what it says about 2017. maybe its not so far off?

I didn't think Europeans had the nuts to stand up and fight much less riot. I wonder if they understand Socialism doesn't work because there is no such thing as unlimited money.

possession is 3/4ths of the law
they may own it, but we have it. I think the US govt in this respect is actually pretty smart about it. We have treasury securities that are printed and sold to whoever. Since they are basically giving us their money so we can print our money. now these countries who own our treasury securities basically have worthless paper. Its a giant pyramid scheme where we benefit. The problem is that silly problem of money not being unlimited. It would work better if Congress wasn't so greedy with all of its spending on useless programs such as welfare, social security (there are better ways of doing this and less painful ways of doing this), Department of Education, HUD, and a few others including the socializing of the economy and healthcare.
