Probably my favorite type of music. I love listening to soul albums from the late 60's/early 70's.

My favorites are Marlena Shaw, Syreeta, Gwen McCrae..

So many great albums..

Gwen McCrae - Something So Right

Marlena Shaw - Out Of Different Bags, Who Is This Bitch, Anyway

Too many to list.

I enjoy finding new artists I haven't heard yet and finding their albums. Great stuff.

Do you have that album? I have Rockin' Chair, Let's Straighten It Out, and Something So Right, but haven't listened to Melody Of Life yet. I've read it's more disco/dance than her other albums.

No, I just have the original 12" extended mix.
I'll check it out though and report back to you.

Here's another girl I love: Marie Queenie Lyons. She only put out one album called Soul Fever. Then she disappeared.

The entire album is grand. My favorite tracks are Daddy's House and Your Thing Ain't No Good Without My Thing.

Here's another cool song called Fever

And it doesn't hurt that these ladies are really good looking.

Phil Spector's "Wall Of Sound" really puts that album over the top.

It's alright. Not the best one I've listened to. But there are some good songs. Some pretty sad ones too.

Great thread E.
I had forgotten how much "soul" shaped my musical aesthetic. It's wonderful to make that contact again.
