Terrorists using child porn to relay messages?

www.foxnews.com

A link between terrorism plots and hardcore child pornography is becoming clear after a string of police raids in Britain and across Europe, an investigation by The Times has discovered.

I gotta ask what is the real agenda here?

Child porn? One of THE most watch-dogged materials on the net and terrorists pick it as a messaging service? now i understand that child porn is still highly guarded, but still... when officials are actively seeking out this material, it just seems to me that this would not be the best source to relay messages to other terrorists.

perhaps another attempt to tag as many people as possible with the terrorist label (as if child porn is not a big enough label) and thus allow some sort of legalized cleansing to take place?
seems "fishy" to me

Well you have to understand that child porn is kind of least priority to Jihadi websites. Which one do you think gets more attention? Jihad, Islamic, infidels, etc. Or child, porn, sex, juicy, etc.

I think that is disinformation being spread to keep citizens in fear of the omniscient, omnipotent government. There is no way the government has a copy of every child porn flick out there, it is impossible.

Crooks and bad guys have for years used all manner of media to contact their own. Why would you think that this could not be true. We had a gang here in the states that used a simple number/ letter code. If you didn't know which book or magazine to look at you could not break the code. The internet is so much faster that it would make it near instantainous contact among members of sect groups. Hell, We here at ATS might be unintended conspiritors by using certain posts and then making a code out of any post here to notify cohorts of terrorists or criminals of other groups. To claim out of hand that this could not happen is to ignore the past use of such media!

I have to agree with the OP in that this is quite possibly the DUMBEST idea ever. I mean, child porn is so ridiculously illegal, and WAY more likely to attract federal attention then say, photos of famous actors and actresses. Are the terrorists all pedophiles themselves or are they just morons?

I've said this a few times on various threads over the last couple of weeks as it's salient to so many things these days: the fear of paedophilia and terrorists are the biggest tools the government can use against us. Either manufacture or hype a genuine threat of either of these things and people are literally queuing up to allow more and more restrictions or monitoring to take place.

As a story, it doesn't stand-up to scrutiny at all. You don't hide messages where people are actually already scrutinising both message and sender. It's not even a 'hey! let's hide in plain site' type affair because plain site still relies on something fairly innocuous.

Also, we're already demonising terrorists as it is, or rather who might be a terrorist: run, it's the Muslims! Now, we make them appear even more alien and horrific: not only do they want to blow you up, they want to # your kids! I mean it's not as if there's not enough reasons to hate them as it is, it it? With their brown skin, funny names and unChristian religion but now they're all kiddy-fiddlers! Zoiks!

To me, this smacks of a Saturday morning superhero cartoon where two of a superhero's roster of arch villains team-up to create a double-dangerous threat to our protagonist. Oh noes! It's our worse nightmare!! ZOMFG!!!

-_-

theres a big differance between using certain books to code/decode messages

hiding things in an image is a lot more effort, and if your going to use an image to hide somthing why the hell would you use somthing so heavily watched

hmm yes were terrorists and so we dont get spotted we stay away from jihadi websites and head over to the next most monitored websites then make our own child abuse pics(even though its really against our religeon and beliefs) then we will some how encode magic messages in them

now they are bieng chased by the child pronography squads and the anti-terror brigades

using them to dehumanise westerners with child abuse pictures beleivable, hiding secret messages in them unlikley why would you do it here when you could put the same message in any form of pictures and shove on any website

all those this is my cat and i wuv him websites would be a better bet for hiding info noone would notice dont you think?

Put fear in the pedophiles that there will be even more eyes upon them from organizations like Homeland Security while demonizing the "terrorists". Killing 2 birds with one stone! Just more government propaganda?

If the story is true (which is highly unlikely) then this could be an example of hiding things in plain sight.

You've hit the nail on the head there.

People are losing interest in a war against terrorism... there hasn't been another attack on the US since, and hence, people are wondering exactly why the US government keeps pushing at the notion of warfare.
With that being said, nobody is watching news related to terrorism any more.

Remember, this little report came from Fox news... they don't intend on their audience to actually think about what they're broadcasting.

The whole intention here is to re-fuel hatred for the "terrorists".

The problem being, that we are intelligent enough to realize any organizations that have kept themselves under covers for so long, aren't about to go using child porn as a medium to encode messages.

As others have stated, child porn is something ALL federal governments hunt for quite adamantly. Terrorists aren't stupid... they may use some of the worst forms of hatred in the world... but they're not stupid enough to go hiding messages in one of the most sought after government targets on earth.

To sum it up, there's NO way this Fox article is legitimate.

They're just making up fake news, in a desperate hope that you might start paying attention to them again.

I stopped paying attention to Fox for precisely this reason. They broadcast fake news. Making more of it isn't going to re-gain my attention.

It's time everyone else stopped watching Fox as well.

...

You wouldn't watch Jerry Springer for dating advice...
so why would you check Fox for your news?
