Not the point. The point is do we really need that much money going to a guy (either side) spending it on lies and fear mongering to get himself elected to a job that is really done by a group of people and not really him. That money could be spent on much better things and nobody can deny that.

The author of this blog assumes that Republican-held presidential years are fraught with economic turmoil for the poor and small gains for the middle class while the upper class flourishes. To some extent that's true. But he completely ignores the fact that in order to make a Democrat's tenure flourish the way they want it to, it requires substantial tax increases which economics 101 says you shouldn't do when your country is headed into a recession. So I have to disagree with the author's conclusions.

Oh and who is talking about another round of stimulus checks? And where do you think that money is ultimately going to come from? If you say the "rich", you might as well be saying "anyone who has a job".

Open your eyes man. This country is ALREADY different than the one you and I experienced growing up. The nice tales of American democracy, integrity, and free-world leader is long gone.

We have shifted to a nationalistic, socialist economy...backed by a governemnt that has incrementally eroded our civil liberties since September 11. The powers afforded to the Executive Branch and now the Treasury Department directly violate those provided in the U.S. Constitution. Our government continues to violate us.

Now, how this country advances under Obama or McCain is not worth arguing. Be scared of Obama if you wish. But be scared of McCain. The Executive Branch is no longer the "checked and balanced" branch that we read in our little history books.

So enough with the "I fear Obama" crap. Fear our own present government, Congress, Treasury, President, and voting bloc that elects many of these idiots into office year-in-and-and-year-out.

Please, no personal disrespect to you. I respect your opinions. I'm just a very proud American, and very angry/disappointed at our current state of affairs.

This is not the America we used to know.

I mean no disrespect to y'all either. I just wish some of you (not necessarily all) would look on the other side of the fence and not whats being spoon fed.

You are right, our country isn't what it used to be. I don't blame this on any party as both contributed to it greatly.

My gears have finally been grinded, so forgive me for going off the wall. I still think Obama supporters are making a mistake, but unfortunately one man in a position as myself can't break down the barriers one is hiding behind.

I must also add, I have much more to gain of Obama's promises than McCains. I am a student ($4000) and currently my family is WAY below the poverty level (Increased aid and decreased taxes). I don't even understand how I manage to keep the power and internet bill paid. People tend to stereotype McCain supporters so I thought I should throw that out there.

I am not blind nor ignorant because I support Barack Obama. I took the time, studied both sides, and came to an educated conclusion. I'm not some blind sheep. And I think many others went through the same process. Because we don't agree with you, doesn't mean we are blind, and you see the light. It means we disagree.

Obama's presidential campaign was one of the most professionally managed campaign I had ever witnessed. It has been consistent and broken new ground in exploring new mediums to get his message across. That should be a clue as to how his presidency will be conducted.

How about changing the rules, setting a limit, using the money for things that the candidates are fighting for. You know Obama could help people get out of foreclosure instead of spending it all on his campaign. Nah, that would actually make sense.

They should by law require all candidates to go through the Finance System, and allocate each of them the same amount of Money. That way, the best Candidate has a greater chance of winning, as opposed to the Wealthiest. This would also allow the other Parties (ie, Libertarian, Constitutional, etc), and even Independents, to have the same amount of Coverage opportunities as far as funding goes.
