I was replying to a post which referred to a timeframe of 100 years. Attempting to prove some type of marginal economic decline in the last 8 years is meaningless

You OBVIOUSLY didn't read the entire post of mine. The article CLEARLY states that ALL of the gains of the last 20 years have been wiped out, not just 8 years! READ before you make claims which show your COMPLETE lack of understanding of the facts.

Here...here is another source. This one from Steve Quayle and he is a frequent guest on coast to coast. I have spoken with him on a couple of occassions. So any of you that like to call out fear mongers, give him a call and a piece of your mind. My bet is most of you wont.

Don't you get it? They are all just passing this ludicrous hoax around to each other. That's why it's called SPREADING A RUMOR.
But go ahead, believe what you want. Don't DENY IGNORANCE. Wallow in it, don't do something to better your plight. Just sit that and cry "Woe is me",
while the rest of us try to improve the world.
Remind me to put you on the list of pyramid scheme letters that I get. I'm sure you'll buy into them without using your own brain.

This is fake...if you look at the link it is not from the Drudge Report which is a bit credible...it is from a user on Drudge.com. As one of the early posts says, if the banks shut down completely for more than a few days there would be a huge windfall and that simple won't happen. Check the sources on these posts when they provide a link. The BoA message is fake!

I work for a bank in the credit card dept. Not sure how long I will have a job but would like to pass this along. Some of you may have noticed that your credit limit has been reduced. Not through anything you have done wrong, but my bank reduced credit limits across the board about 6 weeks ago.

I spent the better part of 2 weeks trying to explain to card holders who were out shopping why this purchase did not and would not go through. People who have excellent credit ratings had this happen to them as well.

I don't believe I work for the only bank in America that did this. Check your monthly statements to make sure this hasn't happened to you, or so that you know when it does happen.

Thanks for sharing some inside scoop. Hope your neck isn't on the chopping block on account of your desire to help the rest of us see what is happening!

Discretion while revealing is of importance, I would think.

Thanks for the reply. At this point I really don't care if my neck is on the chopping block or not. I am so tired of feeling like the enemy or that I am screwing people over. I used to believe this bank was ethical most of the time. I am seeing things differently now.

I feel your pain. I was in the Business Banking Division for Wells and had to break news to business customers. Sometimes the bad news was in the neighborhood of closing out 100k credit lines. It was not fun, and this is what mostly woke me up to get out of the banking business.

Crakeur with all due respect sir, what represents a reliable source?

Well for starters, NOT the "Drudge Retort", which is where the OP link led to.

The Drudge Retort is a left-wing parody of the Drudge Report.

If something sounds wild and wacky, it probably is.

Enough with the 007 drama.

I appreciate that SEEJANERUN was willing to take, what she viewed, risky action in order to inform us but this news is not new to anyone who has been paying attention. I saw this discussed on Bloomberg over a week ago.

This is a good example of the hysteria that is engulfing us these days. Some of us are so certain that doom is just around the corner that we see a conspiracy in everything.

We are in a credit crunch. That can't possibly be news to anyone here. The reason for that credit crunch is because banks are very concerned that any money borrowed at this point may never be repayed. The fact that the uncertainty now includes money borrowed by other banks and financial institutions is why the crisis has reached such a critical point.

So, since the banks are uneasy about writing new loans, it stands to reason that they would also want to reign in credit lines. American Express began doing that months ago.

I truly appreciate people like seejane who go out of their way to inform us. I just think we should be careful about acting as if this information was being kept from us because of some big govt conspiracy.

At this stage of the game, even the Mattress is backed by my body and my wife, which is more secure than the FED, the Government or ANY bank.
We do need to stick together on it.
