I have an interesting website link which has some EXTRA photos
which are quite illuminating and the author raises what I think
are some VALID QUESTIONS which make me think whether
the statements made by users regarding Tape Machines
found in chicken coops or closed down McDonalds are actually
TRUE or NOT and if not where did the statements come from and
were they ACTUALLY made by Mr. Wingo the current holder
of the NASA tapes or are from outside sources.

Click on the above link to see the pertinent questions raised.

Once again not addressing the real topic and posting a picture that has nothing to do with the thread.

Carry on Zorgon. As usual nothing will come of this thread and it will fall by the wayside like all the other moon base and mining threads you start.

I seem to be the only one willing to stand up to you and John Lear, and I am telling you, I am not ashamed to say most of the stuff (NOTE I SAID MOST) is pure bunk. I have enjoyed some of the things where totally insane conclusions weren't drawn out of the blue.

Hmmm okay I will buy that...

I AM WATCHING YOU ALL !!!!!!!!! I AM THE MASTER OF THIS UNIVERSE!!!

You are not the only one watching this thread
And I just received permission to quote a few things on condition of anonymity

I need to fill a contract but when I get back I will sort through the mail and pull out some key points and maybe we will make some real sense of all this

P.S. Anybody got a buck for some McDonalds' coffee?

I'll buy, but at least lets get some REAL coffee

Actually it had a LOT to do with this thread...

It was a CLEAR message to people engaging Trolls in conversation that add only more confusion and distraction to the thread. I am SURE the right people get the message

How do you figure nothing will come of it? Seems to me its one of the best threads on here right now...

I seem to be the only one willing to stand up to you and John Lear,

That's because your the ONLY one who doesn't 'get it' yet and since John has not been here a long time, I don't see how that is relevant.

So now I will heed my own sign and bid you farewell... I have work to do

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there some NASA person who was responsible for some photos, five sets total, who was told to destroy them, but only destroyed four sets and kept the fifth set because he had a conscience.

Seems to me this might be the stash. I don't know if this has anything to do with that, but I've got a head for the weird crap in life and my little TTY bell went ding-a-ling as I read this thread.

Rocks, he started this thread, he can post pictures as he likes. Besides, the picture has to do with the likes of you. You should be flattered.

Honestly, I think you are just jealous. A quick review of your thread count shows a "whopping" total of 13. Many with ZERO replies or single digit replies. None with triple digits. Face it, you have: "Post-Envy".

Perhaps a pill would help.

Behold McDonald's: 596 Edquiba Rd, Mountain View, California. It's just a bit SW of Moffett Field. I have a lovely birdseye view, but ATS being the hypercontrolling entity it is, will not allow me to upload anything yet. This link will put you in the neighborhood though: Current Lunar Orbiter Photography Storage Facility.

Oh, cripes. This is what I get for not paying attention to the post dates or looking to see how long the gd thread is before posting like some dribbling idiot. I'm days late to the party. The vomit has long been crust on the floor.

[edit on 10/1/08 by Obsrvr]

I gotta tell you that I think it's a hell of a lot of work to set up a hoax here. Why haul all that crap into a McD's and set it up, etc., etc., etc., only to have to haul it out again?

Frankly, I'm getting sick of the naysayers on this flipping web site. You should spend less time busting the balls of people who work at bringing you good information and more time upstairs and outside in the sunlight in something other than your Underoos.

Zorgon isn't the hoaxing/BS'ing type. Never has been.

In defence of Zorgon, I doubt he is hoaxing but I do have some reservations
regarding the sources of the information posted on ATS.

1) Who actually said the Tape machines were found in a chicken coop?

2) Who actually said the tapes were from the Lunar Orbiter?

3) Who originally said the tapes were just left laying around
in an abandoned McDonalds?

Those are basic questions I wouldn't mind having answered
by someone who really is "In The Know"!

---

I will tell you a little secret though, the original video feeds
from 1967 to 1973 COULD STILL be recovered if the Airforce
predecessor to Space Command still has the kinescopes
(i.e. 16mm or 35mm films taken right off a television screen at 30 fps)
which were beamed down during all missions.

There would be canisters of 16mm, 22mm or 35mm film
somewhere probably stored at Dryden, Wright Patterson
or in Hawaii that may contain original images from
missions that were obtained simply by pointing a
film camera at a monitor station.

This was a technique pioneered by Hollywood
and was a popular way to save live TV programs
in the 1950 and 60's.

We should do some further digging
for such archival material....

That would be Steve... on the Flickr page

"The only working version of the Ampex tape player ($300K when new) was discovered in a chicken coop and restored with the help of the original designer. "

2) Who actually said the tapes were from the Lunar Orbiter?

That would be Dennis and everyone else involved with the project and LO-1-102 was the image on the screen of the computer

This was further backed up by Phage in this post
www.abovetopsecret.com...

and the document he linked to part authored by Dennis Wingo
Source

3) Who originally said the tapes were just left laying around
in an abandoned McDonalds?

Originally? Well for THIS thread that would be Steve...

"Behind the counter of an abandoned McDonalds lie 48,000 lbs of 70mm tape the only copy of extremely high-resolution images of the moon.

These tapes were recorded 40 years ago as part of the Apollo program to map the lunar surface to plan landing spots for Apollo 11 onward. They have never been seen by the public because at the time, they were classified as they reveal the extreme precision of our spy satellites. Instead, all we have ever seen are the grainy photo-of-a-photo images that were released to the public. "

Those are basic questions I wouldn't mind having answered
by someone who really is "In The Know"!

Any more questions?

Actually I DO have some more questions....
====
QUOTE FROM STEVE near beginning of thread describing photos:

"Behind the counter of an abandoned McDonalds lie 48,000 lbs of 70mm
tape the only copy of extremely high-resolution images of the moon."
====

The Ampex FR-900 have reel flanges that as far as I KNOW will NOT accept
a reel that's greater than the 2 inches wide tape width plus reel guard width
so the tape that steve is talking about can't be MAGNETIC TAPE but rather
he's possibly talking about 70 mm FILM which would need a Telecine to
transfer rather than a 2" reel-to-reel VTR like the Ampex FR-900's!

So why is Steve talking about 70mm reels when that equals 2.7559 inches
which the FR-900's won't take because of the limited reel flange room
of only 2.0 inches plus a bit extra for the flange....?

and 48,000 lbs? Those reels which are similar to
Quantegy 499 Gold 14 inch diameter, 2" reel 5000 foot mastering tape
which are 23 pounds when full so there should be 2086 tapes (47,978 lbs)
when I seem to count only about 700 tapes (about 16,000 lbs)
in the photos.

So where are the other 1300+ 2" reel-to-reel VTR tapes
that should be there in the abandoned McDonalds.
(i.e. a missing 31,878 lbs of 2" reel-to-reel VTR tape)
Where are They Now?

Anybody ELSE find these stats weird or unlikely?

I agree. McD's are not just "abandoned" they pretty much succeed wherever they go. Having been a fast food franchisee for 25 years I can tell you a well built and equiped store like this one would not be left to rot-much less become a repository for a missing treasure trove of high-resolution moon pix. As for the tape reader, perhaps John Teeter could go back in time and get the parts they need! :lol But it would be cool if it's real and we could get a good look.

Only since you ask.

I have always thought the metal "Canisters" wrapped in tape appeared more like I would expect processed film to be stored, not video / data tape. Which is typically in plastic cases with handles or boxes. ( Non-metallic)

Like:

This has always puzzled me.

Wait a minute...an 'ABANDONED' McDonald's????

I would give my left pinky finger to be able to won a McDonald's franchise (or two or three....or four or five or six)

BUT, it is extremely expensive to buy one.....

So an 'abandoned' one????

Wow! Somebody must have been paid off, real good!

I'd just as soon expect one could use an 'abandoned Bob's Big Boy'?

Or, any of a thousand abandoned warehouses, [edit here, spelling] a staple of current TV shows.

Perhaps something is going on in the recently 'abandonded' Subway franchise, just up my street. Seriously, one week it was there, the next it wasn't!!!

I'll go up three blocks and find out what's going to be there next...on the way, I'll pass by the restauraunt that just closed....they had everything going for them, especially beacause there was a perfect open lot, right next door!!! for the Valet Parking!!! But, alas, they failed. New sign, says....new restaurant about to open....been there for about three months now.

Conspiracy?? No....economics. Maybe. New restaurant....holding my breath...

When did they start using the plastic boxes?

These are the missing Apollo tapes... (and yes THOSE really ARE missing
)

I have a photo somewhere of them in the metal cans... will post it when I find it again

Here is one...

Brush Sound-Mirror tape. Brown metal reels. From the late 1940s, used with some of the very first consumer tape recorders. EUREKA!

The above Black and White photos of reel-to-reel tape of ths Apollo
landing missions look like 14 inch diameter 1 inch wide mag tapes which
are MUCH different than the ones displayed in the McDonald's photos.

---

Again what does steve mean by 70mm -- is he talking about FILM
canisters....or actual Magnetic tape. Anyways my estimated weight
calculations still means that we're not seeing the other 1300+ 2" tapes
that SHOULD BE THERE!

This is getting to be interesting.....

-----

If it's FILM that needs to be transferred - I can DEFINITELY do that!
Since I've done MILLIONS OF FEET of the stuff!!!!

My optical scanning system ALSO works with 8mm to 16mm to
22mm to 35mm to 70mm to large-scale astrographic films...
POSITIVE PRINT ONLY CURRENTLY but I will be expanding into
NEGATIVES into the near future as I tweak my imaging algorithms.
