In the age of nuclear weapons, especially with an arsenal as big as ours, "use it or lose it" rules the day. Unless someone can figure out a way to neutralize that arsenal, Red Dawn will be just a cool movie.

Alright. What about this scenario. America is invaded by Russian troops just like in the film you mention, Red Dawn. By the way, didn't like it much. Kept waiting for Swayze to start dancing! Anyway, as the fight ensues American soldiers based abroad immediately invade mainland Russia. America becomes Russia and Russia becomes America. . . The amount of men and material a country would need to invade a country the size of the USA would, in turn, leave that country open to invasion.
All that and not a nuke fired!

I'd say... whatever rules apply to martial law would be enforced in a civil war. I don't know what that means exactly but I did live thru the riots in Memphis when Martin Luther King was shot. I was young, but the blacks did start alot fires, etc which was nothing like a fullscale war, however I have seen footage of riots in NYC that were pretty scary. Just local pockets of gangs creating terror is bad enough. Perhaps stay at home, dodge the bullets... maintain a low profile.

I have never seen the rules of engagement for martial law in modern times, but makes you wonder how soldiers of the military might react if turned lose in the streets of the US with live rounds. Remember these guys have been killing on foreign soil... so it could be ugly. Perhaps we owe them some respect, eh? I definitely wouldn't be playing any games with em.

Most definitely... I would do the same... However there are those out there who would not... Theyd rather rebel an cause trouble... The ROE for martial law is simple... Anybody out past curfew is fair game if they are not authorized to be out that late... Anybody who loots or causes disorder is fair game as well... It's best to not be the hero and do what they say until otherwise notified by the proper officials in times of marshal law... It is instilled on us for a reason... To keep order, and protect us from ourselves really... So I would, and do respect them...

What the person above me stated about the country being open to invasion... Yes that is very true... An more than likely what would happen if such a scenario did occur... Even in Red Dawn the Colonel who was shot down mentioned that US and RUSSIA would not nuke each other because they knew better... I think that would apply to a real life scenario to... Both governments want to survive, and continue their reign of power... So why would they want to end the world and kill themselves... Think about it... Unless you got a guy like Ahmadinejad running things...

IMO: Is it possible to invade the U.S.? Sure. Will it be a successful invasion? Not at all, and there's four major reasons why:

1) Our Navy. Any country moving their troops over here has two possible means of transportation: Plane and Ship. Our Navy is currently located in locations all around the world, and all of our ships are capable of eliminating both enemy ships, and enemy aircraft. If the situation calls for fighter jets, then we have Aircraft Carriers, lots of them.

2) Our Air Force. If the Navy lets through any threats, then up goes the fighter jets and Surface-to-Air Missiles.

3) The weapons owned by our citizens, whether the weapons are legal or illegal (heck, some gangs/people in general, have some really powerful weapons like grenade launchers and the like). If the enemy reaches land, then as Isoroku Yamamoto puts it, "there would be a gun behind every blade of grass."

4) Our strategic positions overseas. We have both Air Force and Army bases located strategically in various positions in other countries. Also, we have Marine Expeditionary Forces aboard naval ships. A country invading the United States would leave themselves wide open to a blow from all of our defense forces (except for the coast guard). Heck, imagine this: The enemy's military force is destroyed, but we're currently in an occupation in their country, overthrowing their government.

So in a way the country is doomed no matter what... So in a way there is a good thing that comes out of being somewhat imperialistic and having outposts across the world.

You make it sound like its so easy.

If it was, what's been going on in the middle East these past XX years?

I think the Iraq war has shown the world the USA is not invincible tbh.

George Washington is said to have had a prophetic dream of the invasion of the United States. There have been a lot of other people who have said the same.

Now, consider the millions and millions of chinese men who have no hope of ever having a wife, and have no access to sex. That would be a pretty good inducement to invade, wouldn't it? That they get to keep the spoils of war?

Dmitri Dudaman (sp?) claimed he was a prophet, and that the visions he had shows the Chinese invading from the west coast, and basically slaughtering, pillaging, and raping (both literal and figurative) their way all the way to the Rocky Mountains. That Russia invades from the North (through Canada), and Cuba, and some others invade through the Gulf of Mexico.

Do a web search on "invasion of america prophecy", and you'll find lots of it.

On a more practical level....

A west coast invasion would be easy. The chinese could pre-position all kinds of items, because they have control of some of the deep water ports that were leased to them. Thus, once all the materials were in position, they could send troops on cargo ships, which we would never think would contain people in that quantity. Imagine a 1,000 foot long "tanker", only it doesn't have oil in it, it has space for troops.

They could slaughter the men on the west coast, and take the women for prizes. What would stop them? Most people have no guns on the west coast any more, and the same can be said for the east coast.

It's not until they start reaching inside the Rockies or the Appalachians that they have large numbers of civilians that are heavily armed. People, as a general mindset (not any individual person), on the east and west coasts are pacifists, and don't like doing violence. People in the middle of the country are more used to things like shooting and hunting.

If they did invade, the easiest way to take them out would be nukes, but it will be the exact thing that the armed forces WILL NOT be allowed to use, even though it would end it very quickly.

More than likely, an armed invasion will be preceeded by an EMP attack and/or the nuking of several large cities, DC, Los Angeles, New York, etc.

If I were an enemy country intent on doing this, I would make it look like a "terrorist group" did the nuking, and slip in the troops while the attention is focused internally.

10,000 troops would only take 20 747s (or the equivalent). 20 planes wouldn't even be a blip on the radar (so to speak) at LAX. That would be another way they could slip in a bunch of soldiers, disguised as "students".

The trick is not in getting the troops here. That is actually much easier than people think it would be. The trick is getting the weapons here. When you think of it in this scenario, it makes you wonder about why the Chinese were so quick to lease deep-water ports (and wonder why our government was so quick to lease it to them).

Some people say that the following bible verses actually talk about America
Ezekiel 38:10-13 (KJV) (emphasis mine)

10Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:

11And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

12To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

13Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Those two underlined parts are an accurate description of the U.S. Although admittedly, the rest of that chapter talks about the State of Israel, it's interesting that the prophecy says that "at that same time..." (meaning the invasion of Israel) before going into this prophecy.

How could anyone take a "great spoil" from Israel? They most certainly could take a "great spoil" (just in food, if nothing else) from the United States.

But all this has just been speculation and free-thinking on my part. Believe what you want.

There is a war going on right now financially speaking.
Greedy people in the city short selling nearly bringing big intitutions to their knees forcing the Government to rush to the rescue to save them or face major economical problems.

The fallout stress to the people further down the pyramid via the media coverage of the continuing situation.

I am right or wrong?

But I grew up during the 80's. Many of those who grew up with me will remember Red Dawn.

I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to try it. If they do...."WOLVERINES!!!!"

Not to worry, mate. After all, we Americans would probably have to loan you guys guns to use. In contrast, our citizens as a group are armed to the teeth. Besides, the British people as a group seem an increasingly docile, clueless Muslim-influenced group on the whole. And anytime you have a leader with a bit of fire, you toss him out as quickly as possible. Long live Neville Chamberlain! Right?

China has no desire or means to invade the Continental United States. They have never, ever been cross-continent invaders. Russia? They have no means, and certainly no capability either. Only fifth column forces could fight here in the United States, and after what I'm certain would be initial confusion and anarchy, this fifth column would have a very short half-life.

If such an event could possibly occur, I fear once started, there would be a house-cleaning like the world has never seen.

And God help anyone who speaks with any accent of any type, dresses differently, or looks differently than the locals.

I wouldn't join a militia (it has become needless).

But I use this same name on XBOX Live, and I love the first person shooter.

Like i said...not much of a redneck. But i was raised in the country, and i still have dad's deer rifle.

I get violent inclinations in just about two occassions: with my wife and kids, and when my patriotic hairs stand on end.

I hope this next thing would never happen BUT:
Im asking would the u.s. army surrender IF whole america would be in ruins? Massive bombing of the oil supplys, major cities under heavy bombing, etc. Would the u.s. army surrender for the sake of their own civilian population or not?

i believe eventually the chinese will invade via the northgate (alaska)

and when there is civil unrest which i believe to be quite soon the SPP (The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) will step in to maintain order from mexico and canada.

and let's not forget about ussouthcom is mexico w/a command in florida.

and please remember the Brigade homeland tours start October 1

The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys. Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home. Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.

tells me something is going down.

With all the large container ships china has. they have the troop ships.
at 40 troops per 40 foot iso container.
And many of the small container ships carrying over 1200 containers.
and ones the size of the M/V Emma Mærsk has a capacity of 15,200 containers.

A ship with 1200 container could hold 48.000 troops and just be run aground and offloaded.
a ship holding 15200 container could carry 608,000 troops.

It would take only a few large container ships to land a million troops.

10 large 15,200 container type ships packed with troops hitting the west coast of the US at the same time would mean 6,080,000 troops that would be bigger then the complete military of the US and Canada.

Now if they wiped out the San Francisco, San Diego and LA areas before we stopped them that would be no great loss. without the illegals and the nuts in frisco and LA the state would be republican.
we could then vote out a lot of gun control laws the democrats have made.

After they crossed the sierras they would have to contend with crossing the deserts of the great basin.
