Hey everybody, I'm back...for now.

Long story short there has been a VERY nasty stomach virus working it's way around my family. My daughter got it first and was sick all weekend, then my wife got it and had it until yesterday.

I've missed the last 3 days of work and have been so busy taking care of everyone I haven't had time to do anything.

Now I kind of feel like I'm getting it.....

Glad you are back and everyone is feeling better.

Except for you, that is....maybe you can fight it off. If not, I feel for you.

poor nyk537

That bug has been doing the rounds of the UK for the last couple of months - it's nasty (though I avoided it!)

My friend said her daughter's only option was to sit in the "smallest room in the house" with a bucket - makes the idea of that porta potty seem a bit redundant!

Take care of yourself and I recommend warm milk and ginger powder for upset stomachs.

Been there. Had that. You have my sympathies. A toilet, a good book and a bucket was my sole company for a weekend.

Did you get the absolute banging headache with it as well? I could cope with everything else but the headache just drained me.

@#$%'n bugs.

My 12-year run without so much as a common cold came to an end about three weeks ago. Still, it was a mild malady compared to some bouts I remember from years back.

You could have found the answer to that pretty easily.

Also, search for ATS threads on the subject - there's lots of interesting and funny conspiracy theories revolving around that place!

I see. I should have used the search feature. Anyway, how big is it?

Well, I am finally back at work today but I don't really feel like I should be. We hate bugs.

Got 3 days worth of backed up work to catch up, luckily round 2 doesn't start immediately.

Back to work ....

Yay! Oscitate is back!

Boo! Nyk is gettin' sick!

I will chime in with my prescription pharmaceutical advice. I know it is not the cool thing to do these days, but I have said it before and will say it again:

It's the 21st century we didn't get jet-pack or hover-crafts, but by God we got some relatively benign medicines that manage pain and suffering.

Here is the old school go to for gastrointestinal stresses: Phenergan

You can take it both orally or -- ahem -- another way. I keep both dosage options on hand at all times and travel with them too. If I get food poisoning I make sure the offending subsatnce is 'cleared out' and then take the Phennie. It knocks you out for 3 hrs. or so, but you go from that 'just kill me now' wanting to die clinging/attached to the bowl to fine when you wake up.

Good morning everyone - it's great to see the Pub so busy!

Oscitate: welcome back!

nyk: also, welcome back! That sounds miserable and I hope you can head it off for yourself.

Ian: coffee?

peacejet: I've never been to Disneyland, but I've been to Disneyworld, which I think is even bigger
It was kind of fun, in a creepy mass-produced way.

orange, TWISI, Heike, Super, anyone else I missed

Morning Pub....

I hate it when people come into your office and ask you how you do your job and want explanations and justifications.

I have a sign on my desk that says:

I am out of bed and dressed. What more do you want from me??

I wish they'd pay attention to that.

So...you haven't answered the question...

Okay guys...I'm closer to having judgments (I had to pick up semper's slack...
) and will still hopefully make it by my estimation of Friday.

The projected Second Round Match-Ups will be posted later, either by Ian in a cool bracket graphic or by me sans coolness.

Schro Dog and opponent will have their debate posted today in an effort to work around road trip schedules (rather to help minimize the over lap) so don't take it as a sign that the First Round is being neglected...I am knocking on doors and lighting fires underneath the seats of certain individuals...
...and one way or another I will absolutely have finalized results this weekend.

Any questions or condemnations...fire away...

Hey guys, it just keeps getting better.

I left work this morning for a quick doctors visit and just got back to gather my things.

Turns out I am severely dehydrated (not because I've been sick, but because I've been so worried about everyone else I've neglected to eat or drink for several days)

I've got to head over to the local hospital now to receive some fluids, so hopefully that will help to make me feel a little better.

I should be back later on.

Take care of yourself!! You aren't going to be good for anyone else or yourself if you are laid up in the hospital.

Feel better.....

Mem, realax. It is all good. I would like to believe that I am speaking for everyone when I say -- we are grown adults who enjoy debating, but not at the cost of your happiness or well being.

It takes as long as it takes. If we do it a few days or a week later, we do it in a few days or a week later.

*looks around the pub*

Right guys?

And a huge thanks to Ian for putting together a bracket for us!!!

Edit to add: Resized...thanks again Ian...
