There aren't any alternates or stand-bys left?

So god forbid, if something were to happen to Oz ....

Makes sense to me. Once a Fight is well underway, it doesn't make sense to restart if one participant forfeits.

Oz might want to look into hiring a bodyguard, though

No need for that.

S-Dog just wishes to remind everyone that accidents happen everyday; that's all.

In this debate, I tried a new approach.

I read, but pretty much ignored in my own posts most of what wuk said in response to my posts.

I also tried to keep it succinct, which is a challenge for some with a natural tendency towards verbosity.

I also tried to lay a couple of traps and keep a couple of zingers up my sleeve.

The judgement will show whether or not these tactics were effective, but I enjoyed trying them as they present a different kind of challenge - rhetoric sometimes suffers because of needless verbosity.
The phrase "over egging the pudding" comes to mind.

If I make it to the next round, I have another couple of things I want to try.

I will trade this fine bottle of brew to know how to do the blue worded thing where you say "this post"

Someday the road trip is going to be a very funny story ...

"Grampa, tell us the story again about the day you pulled over the car with the pink unicorn, the noisy dog, and Mr. Clean!"

....

Copy and paste this:

this post

Then, right-click on the post you want to link to, where it says 'this post' at the top (next to the "posted on" time). Choose "copy" from the pop-up menu. Then, select the 'xxx' in the text you just pasted, right-click on it, and choose "paste" from the pop-up menu. You should have something like this:

this post

That will be translated in this in your post:

this post

More questions, please - I need more beer.

Copy the URL of the post you want to refer to. It will look like this without the spaces:

http : //www.abovetopsecret.com /forum/thread360237/pg483#pid5862279

You can get the URL for a post by clicking on the words "this post" at the top when you are looking at the post.

Now, in the post you are writing, click on the "world" in the menu. First it asks you "what name should be shown"; type in anything you want like "this post" or "my reply" - these words are what will show in blue.

Then hit enter and it asks you for the URL; paste in the URL you copied in the first step, and the code appears in the post. It will look like the below without the spaces:

[ url=http ://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread360237/pg483#pid5862279]this example [/ url ]

but after you post it will look like this:

this example

Edit: Bah, I'm too slow. Oh well, didn't need the beer anyway.

It must make them think I am using a doppleganger or ringer, so far removed from my usual style it is.

Taking some time to calm down and re-evaluate your posting instead of reacting to your opponents posts is always a good maneuver.
