Technically, Palestinians should be anyone who lived in Ottoman Palestine.
That means Jews, Arabs, Samaritans, Druze, Armenians, etc.

Now Arab-Palestinians have been attacked and killed by Israelis, but they have also been killed and exiled by other Arab countries.

Black September in Jordan was far worse than the Intifada has ever been and resulted in a mass expulsion of Arab Palestinians to Lebanon. Even today Arab-Palestinians are discriminated against by other Arabs.

Just earlier this year hundreds of Arab-Palestinians were killed by Lebanese forces but the world mostly ignored it. Had this been Israel in a similar operation in Gaza all manner of accusations and criticism would have fell upon the Israelis.

Please dont accuse the Americans being Zionists. If we were, there would be no peace process and the the Palestinian Authority would not exist.

Jews are not all white, Most Jews are Semitic and share 99% of their DNA with their Arab-Palestinian brothers. When the people there realize they are all technically Palestinian, including the Jews, it may help bring the people together. The Samaritans, Druze, Jews, Arabs, and any others who lived in Ottoman Palestine are Palestinians. Zionism, aka Jewish Nationalism and Arab-Palestinian Nationalism are core parts of the conflict. Both sides want their own country, but the problem is the land has never ever been ethnically and culturally homogenous. When both sides realize that it will help. It will help even more when the Arab-Palestinians realize they are being used as pawns in a much bigger game where they will be discarded in the end. Before this is over, the Arabs and Israelis will look back and realize the greater enemy was not each other, but outside forces manipulating them into conflict and ruin.

I retract all my statements in concerns with that statistic. I was up for far too long the past 2 days.

Though, we can see the the dangers and injustices from all angles of the situation, that doesn't mean we "compare" them as to who is better or worse. The land rightfully belongs to the surviving 750,000 or their family in case of death. This land does not belong to Israel. Simple and plain with no comparisons.

I agree that the people in an ideal world should be able to live there, but so should the Druze, Samaritans, Jews, Armenians, Greeks, Turks and others families who have lived there. Israel should not be a ethnically homogenous land, Jewish or Arab. Ideally they all should be able to live there and practice whatever faith and culture they want. The land should be a refuge to many peoples, not just Islamic fundamentalists or Zionists.

guess you can't get to caught up with whats fair and whats not fair and whats racist and who the country really belongs to..

only realistic solution is to now divide the country back along the 1967 border with no settlement blocks or anything like that, just a clean border and no paestinian refugees into Israel..

Palestinians are willing to do that now and Israel will not, if israel cannot do it then just make it 1vote per person and share govt in a bi-national state.. Israel-Palestine .. kind of like Czeck-Slovokia(former) Bosnia-Herzcovina(sic) .. Austria-Hungarian(former) ..

It is unlikely land alone will be enough.

Until the Palestinians and Israel share a common material economic interest, their chances for success remains small.

The Jerusalem Post also reported a poll that said a majority in Israel would support allowing the Palestinians making East Jerusalem their capital, IF the Palestinians would allow the rebuilding of a Temple.

Interestingly enough there are some scholars who now believe that the location of the original Jewish Temples was not where the Dome of the Rock is now, but between the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsah (sp?) Mosque, where there is a small garden and fountain.

If they all want to get along, it could happen.

So, for our friends in this thread (and I do mean that seriously - you'll find no animosity from me) who think Israel has a great claim on its lands, what would the Israeli stance be if in a few thousand years the Palestinians are given Israel back by the, say, UN, and are given billions of dollars a year to buy weapons and erect checkpoints in Jewish neighbourhoods to control Jewish movements through what used to be a Jewish country? You'd be fine with that? Because if not, then you're taking a massively hypocritical stance. No-one likes to have their land taken, to be subjugated, to be treated as second-class citizens. The Brits learned that in Northern Ireland - the solution? To talk. To give people the representation they need to make their own communities, free from soldiers, free from "accidental" killings, free from car-bombs, snipers, and hatred. If Israel treated the Palestinians the same as it treats the Jewish people, then there would be no problem. It's when the artificial constructs of political borders are used to define "them" and "us" that people get hurt, and the longer it goes on for, the longer it takes for the pain to go away. Israel should be a state of mind, not a state on a map. Since there is more than one side to every story and conflict, in the next post I'll provide the other side - so here's something to think about as to who, why and how the machinations of evil and man will mesh/compliment/complete it.

Now, when considering what follows - think not how all that is happening could deny or refute it - instead, think about how it all fits together, between the time that the following was said until now.
