So . . . . is this another . . . decoy or what?

My relative said 40 years ago that we had unmanned UFO type craft that could take bombs or cameras to any spot on the globe essentially instantaneously under computer control . . . including doing, if desired, the right angle at super speeds tricks.

He did work in that general area of Nevada.

I'm waiting for the time (or hopefully many times) that I get the pleasure of witnessing something like this. My mother was telling me the other day, after I showed her the 1973 story from Pascagoula, MS of the "alien abduction", that she has witnessed two such instances: One was extremely high, upper atmosphere level, and the other only a few thousand feet above her and both had moved excessively quickly, and then proceeded to turn on a dime.
As far as the SR72 is concerned, the adjustments made between the 71 and the 72 do not seem to fit the profile of the billions of dollars spent on these adjustments. OK so they made it a UCAV/UAV, and doubled the speed by switching to SCRAMJET style engines. For such upgrades, I do not see why it has taken this long to publicize release, and think there HAS to be more to the story or that this is an informational release necessitated to cover up other higher priority/more scientifically advanced projects

But thats just my opinion

Um, you go try that.

Doubling the speed of something which was already exceptionally fast and at the edge of physical feasibility for air-breathing engines is very impressive.

The laws of physics don't change.

Not to mention being able to bridge the gap between turbine and ramjet is HUGE.

I had honestly expected it to be a bit quicker, because of the tests of the scramjet designed for m10+ but I have to say I am impressed with what they've ended up with. I just wish it had already been debuted!

There are actually some interesting issues that had come up recently with hypersonic flight I'm curious to see how they got around.

What types of issues are you speaking about? the transfer from turbine to ramjet? or fuel issues or heat buildup issues
edit on 2-11-2013 by kingofyo1 because: (no reason given)

By far the most interesting is the eight minute barrier. Every flight that successfully transitioned to ramjet flight failed after 8 minutes. One lost chunks of skin (which was planned for), that were larger than they thought and led to control failure. One just plowed into the ocean. One went into a "safe mode" failure when it lost control.

im thinking a thicker mostly uniformed skin welded to the frame instead of heat tiles

Possibly. Or maybe a different composite mix. Sooner or later the reports will get out and I'll get my hands on them.

Hence the construction of some new interesting structures at the area. This story connects to a friend's account of going somewhere in Nevada recently and fitting in a super-cooled piece of metal into a large frame. He was only allowed to see two feet of peripheral eyesight while wearing some kind of goggles while performing the fitting. That is all I will say about this person.
He was escorted blind-folded by a military guy who was holding his service pistol in hand. That's how serious the safety measures are there.
Something is going on there....

I highly doubt this story. Why would they need to hold a pistol? What's he going to do?

Apparently everyone on here's cousin/uncle/brother/grandfather/cat/dog has worked at Area 51 on a secret project..

I just thought I would add this link to an article in Aviation Week.

Exclusive: Skunk Works Reveals SR-71 Successor Plan
By Guy Norris [email protected]

November 01, 2013

Ever since Lockheed’s unsurpassed SR-71 Blackbird was retired from U.S. Air Force service almost two decades ago, the perennial question has been: Will it ever be succeeded by a new-generation, higher-speed aircraft and, if so, when?

That is, until now. After years of silence on the subject, Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works has revealed exclusively to AW&ST details of long-running plans for what it describes as an affordable hypersonic intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and strike platform that could enter development in demonstrator form as soon as 2018. Dubbed the SR-72, the twin-engine aircraft is designed for a Mach 6 cruise, around twice the speed of its forebear, and will have the optional capability to strike targets.

There is something interesting in the SR-72 a hypersonic missile have no need of a booster, a mach -4-6 speed of the plane is enough to start the engine without a heavy booster.

Considering the several times replicated solid research that none of us is more than "6 degrees" . . . 6 people away from anyone else . . . it's pretty logical that many COULD claim a connection with workers at area 51.

My close relative . . . is my close relative. He worked on the atomic tests there. That's certain.

And, I tend to believe what he asserts that he saw on adjacent ranges.

Where's it been replicated several times? I found a study from Microsoft but even on that they found some people could be up to 27 different chains away from someone..

And by that theory I should have some cool stories about Barack Obama yeah?

The point is everyone comes on here with the old 'my [insert relative here] worked on a top secret project out at Area 51' it just makes it hard to believe when people say it because it's so overused on this and many other boards.

The flaw in that 6 degrees of separation theory is that it doesn't really apply unless the initial person working on the top secret (big violation of OPSEC) tells every single person he knows then in turn they do the same.

You may be right.

I can certainly be out of date.

I knew about several studies 40 years ago. They seemed very consistent in their replications of prior studies.

I haven't read in that area much in the last 40 years.

Sorry for my blather.
