That's exactly what I was thinking.
It seems that every few weeks
someone posts one of these.

'Infiltrated'? Naaaaah

Checked out? Sure. I would hope that our government checks out as
many internet sites as possible for criminal activities (terrorist
announcements, etc).

I HIGHLY DOUBT they spend much time looking around this site though.
There are sites out there that are a real problem to national security.
This definately isn't one of them.

If this website was ever considered a threat, it would be gone in a flash. Monitored? Probably so, but how shocking is that nowadays?

The governement visits this site to find out what is happening out in the world. I think their normal perception of reality is a bit off.

Government workers often visit this site in their lunchbreaks for entertainment and the "juicy" stuff. They told us so.

Move along.. Nothing to see here.

ATS is just a forum for discussion about alternative ideas, and I don't see any reason why any government would want to infiltrate it. We have lots of traffic, but we are fringe and not the mainstream. I would expect the government to sponsor information on sites like yahoo.com, digg.com or msn.com. Sites which are in the top 50 in the world for most traffic.

Whose to say the government wouldn't attempt to use the website to fit a larger agenda. The notion that ATS would be disbanded if it was a threat to government is not neccessarily true. I think it is more likely that they would attempt to use the website to for their own end.

I didnt make this thread to "accuse" anything. And believe if I had known there were more threads like this I wouldn't have started this one. I only joined ATS yesterday! cut me some slack here.. I only started this Simply to create dialogue on something that is interesting to think about.

I suppose its a possibility, I wouldn't put it below the government for them to do something like that, knowing all the other things they've done to cover up top secret information.

Personally I think we should keep track of IP's, but of course if basement dwellers with no life know how to use proxies during forum raids, then I'm sure the government knows how to use proxies.

multiple governments are probably monitoring this site. If someone is giving top secret stuff away you want to stop them. On the other hand if someone is giving away some free info, another country might want to pay them for more info.

what's are the odds of someone who is in the know messing with the board. i mean someone writes a crazy butt post and "the man" is like whoa this guy thinks 420 is everyday, let's mess with him, and think it's funny

ps
is the pound sign in england over the 4 like our $

This site is already going down hill. It's like here in America, Hollywood and Glamour and Commercialism flood the streets but behind it all isn't anything that is growing into something spectacular and is victim of its own success i.e. what this topoc was created about.

What do you mean this site is going down hill? ATS is bigger and better than ever. I'm constantly amazed by the things we can talk about on here, and the knowlege of some of my fellow members. ATS has been going "up hill" since it's inception, and will someday reach the top, I have no doubt about that.

I agree with fooffstarr. If "they" really saw this site as a threat... it would've been shut down. And "denying ignorance" won't stop them from shutting down a site.

I doubt they are. If they really saw it as a "threat", they'd just shut it down. It's not worth the money by monitoring it.

Plus, you already have your own ideas about the corruption of the government, and nothing will change your minds.

I would have to completely disagree. On what assumption are you basing this?

I'm not sure how long you've been "on ATS" but having only been a member for a year, that doesn't give you much time to see the sheer evolution this website has gone through.

It's better than ever!

Sim it's not that the evolution necessarily that I'm criticizing it's what it'll turn into and what it is turning into.

Yeah great - more publicity. Fantastic. Yeah.

Edit:

To elaborate more, it's the atmosphere it'll turn into to. These boards aren't perfect, but I understand that, but it's going to fall victim and is to just ridiculous posting (which I've seen on BTS being cracked down on) but it's just the quality of posts you get is diminishing heavily and you have a "quantity" of posts that are just ridiculous.

It makes it harder to look at what's genuine and worth reading and what's not without getting put on a rollercoaster of falsehoods and misrepresentation.

That's just my opinion.

I'd rather take quality over quantity

Maybe it is just what it is, a difference of opinion, but I really do not see the quality of content on ATS diminishing. Lately have we had our fair share of UFO pictures, videos, etc., which everyone may not agree with. Whether you see this as crap or not, one can only assume. But that of course is only an indication of one forum, and not ATS on the whole.

ATS has grown larger, but I see the same brilliance surrounded by the same ignorance. Only in larger quantities this time.

Quality over Quantity? I think we have the best of both worlds on ATS.

If you are stuck for what is best to read, then a quick glance at the headlines, active topics, even the primary www.AboveTopSecret.com homepage will give you an indication of what everybody thinks is interesting discussion.

(Thanks to flagging of course.

Like my pappy used to say, there's a polecat 'round every henhouse. I'm quite sure that there's not only observation, but disinfo going on here, and on every other forum of any size. Big brother is not only watching, but is talking to you in almost every media source there is.
