Sir Bobby Robson will become an Honorary Freeman of Newcastle in a ceremony on Wednesday.

He joins fellow Magpies legends Alan Shearer and Jackie Milburn in receiving the award, in honour of his legendary footballing exploits.

The 72-year-old is one the most respected figures in the game, enjoying a lengthy managerial career encompassing European and international roles.

He deserves it, he has been a great asset to football and the community. One thing i never realised is that Mourinho was his understudy...

Mickey, no need for name calling.

Myself looking at what he said, he was laughing at his lame attempt of an old fart joke, which is true Robson is old. He might even smell now that he is old like old people do. Take that part out and he said 'i guess they had to give him something' now that could mean that he deserves an award/honour for his service in football..

Bobby is absolute class show some respect to ur elders, he has done a HUGE amount for the game and is a stand up bloke, the award is overdue.
Shearer could still play for england and should use the world cup as his swansong
How do you spell again i find a real problem

Sir Bobby is a legend in the game and it's a nice gesture.

Felix worked under Bobby at Sporting Lisbon, Porto and Barcelona.
