Well Fox News didn't mention much and CNN talked more about wether or not Fidel would be there. Yahoo says the most by far. But this isn't important who is covering the most. LAES YVAN is right, the common American doen't care and they shouldn't care... It's nice of CNN and Foxnews to protect the people of America from this news because otherwise people would get scared, so we should really be thanking them.

Back on topic.
I'm trying to find more of what was said at the meeting. I'm looking hard.
The ONLY thing quoted by Fox and CNN is this:
"Today we can affirm ... that the movement is more necessary than ever," Perez Roque said in Havana.

The rest I can find is in the original Yahoo link.

"The real story has been growing domination by one nation that unscrupulously applies economic and political pressure, and believes it has the right to invade any country to achieve its objectives, and which is leading the world we share to its own destruction."

Lage slammed the United States as a "morally decadent empire."

"The ideas of limited sovereignty, humanitarian intervention, preventive war and regime change are fascist; they are not modern theories to defend freedoms and fight terrorism," he argued.

"At a time of wars and threats of more wars, the world is more and more unjust and unequal," added Lage, in a pointed critique of rich countries' waste and vanity he said contrasted painfully with the needs of the poor.

I must say that I do not find this news borring in the least!
I feel that this news is more disturbing than it is borring.
I think that EVERY American should know that this was said, but I know most people really don't care so, for the people that are interested, what do you think?

However, this should be talked about on our news and their not exactly doing that. 2 Days after the 5th anniversary of Sept. 11 they are having a meeting 90 miles from us. Wonder whats up? Sounds scary to me. Iran, North Korea, etc... are there.

HAVANA (AFP) - Cuba let loose a blistering indictment of US foreign policy as top diplomats from more than 100 developing countries at the Non-Aligned Summit hammered out policy stands to counter US might.

Interesting thoughts for sure. Possibly once the next Presidential Election's come and gone third world nations may settle abit? But even then, possibly before then, some hard decisions may be in store re Iran and North Korea.

Bad stuff.. unfortunately blood is all some of these jokers understand.

None of those 'non-aligned nations' are building anything like an Alternative UN body...
the existing UN is too Instituionalized and being a member grants the global community of nations access to WHO(health org), World Bank loans, and access to many other resources....which any future AUN(alternate U.N.) would have to build up from scratch. A pretty huge task!

What those Non-Aligned nations are doing is more like a stand-up & be countedvoice
A voice basically in opposition to the 800lb gorilla that wields control/directs the UN,
and all those other interconnected agencies that help the world to keep on going.
(the 800lb gorilla=USA)

Washington DC, will let them 'vent' for a time...
but will tighten the screws if any nation or group tries to buck the established system->
the transfer of wealth & resources thru the channels which are administered by USA interests, and those channels are set up for the continuance of the USA's dominance, as the primary agent in the continuing transfer of all the Global Wealth, Resources and Trade

The Bush administration is trying it's best to divorce the rising unrest,
as witnessed by the growth of orgs. like non-aligned nations,OIC, and others,
from the catch-all slogan "A Clash of Civilizations"

...all those economically suppressed nations (the 100+ in your quote-box)
are fed up with the status-quo of US dominance thru orgs like the UN, NATO, NAFTA etc etc.
The Clash of Civilizations is not just 'islamo-fascists', militant Muslims, terrorists...
as the Bush administration lingo/propaganda would have us believe.
The rest of the world is waking up...and will shake up & change the present UN system.

Only significant & worthwhile items should be force fed to the people

America’s Achilles heel is our 22 m/b/d of oil habit! Million barrels a day. The American public has no interest in cutting back on its SUVs or on using lower powered engines. Don’t forget, in the 1980s medium size cars came with 4 cylinder engines as standard. The powers that be - I call them the R&Fs - Rich and Famous - have already decided to build 80 to 100 nuclear power plants around America over the next 50 years.

At $15 -$20 billion each, the only unresolved issue is whether the power companies will pay for the new plants or the US taxpayers will pay. Played off as part of an “energy independence and security” plan. The taxpayers will also get to pay for the electrify the plants produce. And they will pay for the private companies to “manage” the power plants. It’s advertised every day on tv, “Rent to Own.” By US ownership, the industry will be free of any liability - like the negligence at 3 Mile Island - as private companies working as “agents” for the United States of America. Sovereign immunity. The best of both worlds.

Islamofascists? Not on your life! Bushofascists.

Aside. Have you noticed that all the good tv shows now seen on PBS are actually BBC but have the PBS label added? If it was not for BBC, the GOP would have achieved its post-Nixon goal, to kill public broadcasting.

Even the once great NYT and Wash-Post have surrendered to the fluffnews crowd. Bottom line only. We are fed Judge Judy, Miami CSI and Sunday talking heads who run the political spectrum from right wing to far right wing. The last place where you can get intelligent discussions of topical issues, is on CSpan and CSpan2 on weekends. The very last place. Tyr it. Go to BookTV.org. Click on “tv schedules” or to watch old re-runs, click “watch.”

good points you've brought up,
including the Nuclear Plants to produce electric...

one might connect Tort Reform & limits to future liability awards
to this long range plan, rather than the diversionary focus of Tort Reform
liability $$ as having to do exclusively with the medical provider community....
which was the 'passionate' & 'gut' issue focus that got the existing 'Tort' re-modeled in the first place.

And remember, the fact that we do not know about countries and organizations does not mean that they do not exist or were made only yesterday.

I agree with you in most points, however, I have to correct you a little. Non aligned movement was founded in 1961. Founders of NAM were Tito (Yugoslavia), Sukarno (Indonesia), Nasser (Egypt), Nkrumah (Ghana) and Nehru (India), and foundining conference took place in Belgrade in 1961. So, it's not formed mainly at the direction of Cuba, as you stated. If someone wants more details about NAM's background, here they are. The Non-Aligned Movement: Description and History

I agree with the rest of your post.

It's nothing new, and nothing really important. Most of these countries cannot be called 'enemies of US'. This is not anti-US coallition, so US enemies AREN'T developing their own United Nations.

Thansk for the correction on the date of NAMs inception and what countries were responsible. I'm not sure where I got that fact but the date I got from Wikipedia which has always been a dubious source of information.

Here in America, standing up for your rights and paying attention to your government really interfers with our enjoyment of pro sports, nascar, porn, and drugs.

Do any of you really blame these sovereign nations for wanting the same things as our founding fathers?

Secondsly there is not an enemy in the NAM

Well Bush/'s enemies no doubt, no doubts, but common what did third world nations do to us??

Lets not forget the reason they formed in the first place, not to commit acts of violence against Amercians folk, nah, they formed because of the Democratic and Communist exploitaitions of them that we did in the cold war. WE dont;t give a ddamn about them, so they formed their own cub!

OK, first off NEWS is not supposed to be gossip. Its not supposed to be fluff leave that for the enquirer and jerry springer show. News is suppose to be facts. Facts about what is going on around us everywhere. Facts, not opinions which is what alot of these so called news reporters give now days. Example would be cafferty on cnn who can never resist given his opinion always, no matter what the subject is. Hes usually a smart -allic when he does it. Im not interested in his opinion. I have a mind of my own. Hes job is suppose to report the News. News is FACT. They have turned it into a joke.

No, I totally disagree on thanking the news on their so called protect. Its our right to know. Thats their job to tell us....If people are so sheltered that they cant handle life around them and whats going on in our world theres a huge problem there. Some of us are not babies and do not care for the milk. Some of us wants to hear what they are suppose to tell us and do not.

agreed
however i don't think a little structure in our enemies' camps would hurt us
indeed i believe it would help us all the more
instead of trying to negotiate with 1 country at a time we could talk with all of them
also it would cause the world to effectively be divided into 2 groups, the UN and the unUN (ununited nations' United Nations)

technically i suppose you'd have the UN, unUN, and the USA as the US seems to do whatever it pleases with or without support of the UN

reguardless, organizing a structure around which negotiations are possible is never a bad thing, well, unless you recall OPEC...

Yes, but has anyone here in America ever thought that maybe the powers to be is intensionally dividing the countries into two groups. The same way we are done here with republicans and democrats. Its easy to see these two groups have divided people here in America so much that everyone fights against everyone else and stays away from the real issues.

Countries coming together?

What countries, Al-Qaida and the GSPC?

They are not countries, they are organisations.
