"Hitler was actually fulfilling a prophecy of God saying HE would punish the Jews and after a set amount of time, he would then give them back to their land."

Hitler always hated the jews because he said that they were not indigeneous to any land. They just roamed around. This is printed in Mein Kampf.

actually i'm christian. Doesnt' matter if Hitler ALWAYS hated the Jews, God used him as a device to bring upon HIS punishment. As always, Gods plans come first!!

I think that any group who claims to be chosen or special are setting themselves up for it. The best way to get someone to not like you is to tell them that you are chosen by God. It sort of has an air of ego to it. Same reason Christians don't sit well with me or any group for that matter who claim that sort of favoritism by God. I'll wait to he tells me personally that I am not as good as another before i believe it.

God hasn't said anything. Man has interpreted what he/she believed to be "living Gods" and based all religions on worshipping them, and out of that we have gotten nothing but war, hate and division, and as a species have grown so far away from what God really is.

This is in no way the Jews fault, but it all stems from that time period.

they are PART of God's chosen people...they are mostly decendants or in some way their ancestors were converts to judaism.

The ISRAELITES are God's chosen people and remember that ISRAELITE is not synonomous with JEW.

There are many tribes if Israel lost to history and even bible prophecy states that many do not remember they are part of Israel.

God also states in the old Testament that Israel shall be moved and no longer be located in palestine. Where did it go? well, that a matter open to debate...some say european tribes are part of these Israelites. no one really knows for sure.

however it is said that the reason muslims hate jews is because of the way mohammed was treated by them.

The term Jews was originally a derogatory term for the Ebirus (hebrews). Abraham (father of the hebrews) had 2 sons. One son of the promise (Isaac) and one son of his own efforts. His wife was well past menopause so she suggested Abraham knock up one of her handmaids in order to get sons and he did, producing a son named Ismael. The handmaid got uppity about having a child when her mistress had none so Abraham's wife threw her and her child out. Then Abraham's wife (Sarah) got pregnant and had Isaac. There has been enmity (hard feelings/war) between the sons of Isaac and the sons of Ishmael ever since. Seems a long time to hold a grudge to me, especially since the Arabs and Israelites are brothers but it doesn't really answer the question of why they've been hated and persecuted the world over throughout history. Spain tossed every Jew in their country out in 1492 (?). I've never seen any explanation as to why. Good question. By the way, Hitler had Jewish ancestry himself. If any one knows any more history of why Jews have been hated for all time, I'd like to know as well. We're all well aware of the recent history but this animosity has been going on for a really long time. Where/why did it start?

I'd hazard a guess and say it is the "superiority complex" that runs through Judaism. Gods Chosen? Calling the rest of us Goyim, Gentliles or worse.

Surely, if they were God's Chosen, he would have given them a much better deal than what they have got so far?

In recent times, I think alot stems from the Israel Question.

Why give preference to one group of people claiming land they left 2 Millenia ago? I couldn't give a rats arse if in some dusty tome, some deity promised them it.

I don't believe in that deity, so why should I accept that THEIR God "gave" them that land?

Why, if the Jews can claim back Israel, can the Native Americans not have their land back, or perhaps I should go to Saxony and claim that area, seeing as my ancestors came from there a millenia ago.....

But where does the it, the lore come from? The quotes you posted earlier, seem to me a good example of radical nationalism, and that goes a long way to explain the animosity between countries in the ME and Israel, but that doesn't really answer the world wide disdain. Is it the religion? Is it the ethnicity? Since you can convert to Judaism, does that make a difference? There are even some people who are Jewish that seem anti-semitic. Or maybe I'm confusing that with being anti-Zion.

Crakeur, you had a good post about why Jews were hated in Europe, and I remember hearing something similar. But does that kind of thing keep getting translated generation through generation in new forms?

When the Nazis told the Germans that Jews had horns and tails, what was it that made them so ready to believe it (those who did)? And these conspiracies that claim Jews own the movie industry, etc. All of the claims for cause of prejudice just fly in the face of common sense. If the Jews had so much power, why are they fighting to maintain a spit of sand in the desert?

I hate to say it, but I would like to hear from someone who is anti-Jewish that can peacefully articulate why it is they are held in such disdain, as well as the historical perspective for this, because honestly, I just don't get it.

You can covnert to Judaism, thats were 75% of the worlds Jews came from. Eastern Europeans, Ukrainians etc converted in the 6th century or somesuch. Not many Jews these days can claim to be Hebrew in origin. Whereas those that inhabit the area, say the Palestinians are actually Semitic tribes and probably have better "jewish" ancestry than modern day Jews.

Do you think this holds true for all Jews or just the more conservative Orthadox? I see the same thing in other religions. You have your fundamentalists in Christianity and Islam that believes pretty much the same thing. To me this is a problem related to religion in general, and not just isolated amongst Jews.

That is a very valid statement. It is potrayed very hypocritically through the MSM/politicians/lobbyists. They feel that Jews have the right to the land they havent "given" thousands of years ago, and that the Palistinians should just get out, and whatever happens to them, basically WHO CARES, but in North America, when any Native group speaks up about obtaining land stolen from them, these same MSM/politicians/Lobbyists state that land was taken justifiably and its just "progress."

Speaking of conversion, I can at least understand the irritation for the new-age converts to Kabbalah. I just can't figure out how Guy Ritchie puts up with Madonna.

Sorry for the sideline. Back on topic!

One thing to point out here, and this is critical to understanding part of the US involvement with Israel, is that there are quite a few Christians that believe Israel is the key to the Second Coming, and that it is going to happen soon. Within the next 50 years or so, some predict. And this is the group that really influenced the past presidential election. So in some ways, the Jews are being kept alive only to fulfill Christian prophecy. That's pretty racist, too, I would think.

The word Goy did not start out being a derogitory term. It simply meant someone who is not Jewish, I think that it became seen as a derogitory term because of the presecution they suffered at the hands of non-Jewish people.

As for saying that they are G-ds chosen, this has also been misunderstood . All this means is that they accepted the Torah when the other nations did not. It is taught that G-d offered the Torah to the other nations first and they rejected it, the hebrews were the only ones who wanted it, and accepted it. So you can see from thier own teachings that G-d did not chose them for any special qualities but only because they are the ones who accepted the Torah and the laws therein. Jews do not think that they are better than anyone else and their teachings reflect that. In fact there are quite a few laws reguarding the treatment of non- Jews and converts to thier religion, and the temple is supposed to be a house of prayer for ALL nations.
I admit that there are some quotes you could dig up that reflect a negative view of non-Jewish people but as I stated before, if you had lived the persecution they had lived you might be inclined to write something to that effect as well. However, those few people do not represent the view of Jewish people as a whole

Very true and VERY scary. There has been so much talk during this current situation that parts of Biblical Prophecy are being fulfilled, and that fact that many Christians are cheering the recent violence on is very very troubling. If Damascus is destroyed these people are going to go into overdrive, which is why I believe many people are lobbying to get Syria involved.

The fact that these people, can in one breath claim that they are believers in Jesus, and are true Christians, yet in the next breath cheer on the death and destruction of so many people, so Armaggedon can get here faster, so they can reach their "paradise" while the "non believers" can suffer through the "tribulation" then burn in hell for eternity is so far from anything conceivable within my own head. But maybe it's just me

WOW you are getting into a deep topic here Benevolent! I am interested in seeing what people think about this, however I will be surprised if this thread doesnt turn into a mud slinging fest. I hope it doesnt.

You raise some very good points. Jews have been hated throughout history. They have been blamed for plagues (myths that they poisoned wells), accused of human sacrifice, expelled from numberous countries dating all the way back to biblical days, and generally distrusted in others.

This topic might be considered a deep topic because most people perceive that this topic is, in some way, taboo. Why? because of the very question that this thread asks. Without question, there are people who hate Jews. By starting this thread, I realized that there was a very real potential for that hatred to manifest itself. The vehemence with which people seem toirrationally, perhaps, demonstrate towards Jews is something that I have personally been puzzled about.

I simply don't understand why, reasonably, anyone should harbor hatred towards anyone or another color, nationality, religion....whatever. The same holds true for the Jews. Yet, I can think of few other people, throughout history, who have been subject to such discrimination, bigotry and hatred as the Jews. What singles them out for this distinction? Being God's Chosen People (as some might suggest)?

One area that I noted that might explain, perhaps, the origins of this hatred would be of a financial order. And, this in turn might explain some of the "stereo-typical" image of the Jewish Banker or financier. In Islam and in the early Christian Church, usuary, that is charging interest on a loan, was forbidden. If you wanted to borrow money from someone, the only obligation was to pay the money back. You did not pay the lender anything above the loan. If you think about it, what incentive did the lender have in loaning out money, possibly losing it? Needless, to say, money was tight in the Christian world and, perhaps in the Islamic world as well. Fortunately, for Christians; kings, nobility and common free-men alike, the Jewish faith had no such restriction against usuary, interest.

There is an old expression about "neither a borrower or lender be". It would seem that, even amongst friends, a certain degree of animosity can develop between people over the simplest transactions. I've seen friendships dissolve over petty debts. Would it be too simplistic to suggest that a similar "emotion" of resentment might not have developed between a Christian or Islamic borrower and his Jewish "financier"? I know from personal experience that I don't resent paying on the principle as much as I do the interest.

But, surely, this can't account for more hatred, more persecution of the Jews, as a nation, as a people or as individuals, throughtout history? What discussion of this nature could avoid a discussion of Hitler and his "Final Solution". But, yet, theres more throughout a span of history; Spain ousting the Jews in the Middle Ages, Jews prohibited from joining clubs and organizations in the U.S., "Commonly held, 'stereo-typical', beliefs that "the Jews control the media or the banks, or Movie and television industry, the food industry, the shoe industry and on and on and on.

Just as I don't understand why Hitler wanted to exterminate the Jews, I don't understand why hatred on this scale -- historically, at least -- exists.

This is why I bring this topic, this question to P.T.S. This is no longer the time to mince words and to avoid questions that seem to be overlooked or, at least not asked at the appropriate time. I believe that the members of Above Top Secret are more than capable of maintaining a discussion of this potentially volitile nature without sacrificing any personal opinion or emotion from entering the conversation.

Just as I don't understand why Hitler wanted to exterminate the Jews.

because:

Race was not simply a political issue to be used to curry the favor of the masses, but the "granite foundation" of Hitler's ideology.

Hitler's racial ideology stemmed from what he called "the basic principle of the blood." This meant that the blood of every person and every race contained the soul of a person and likewise the soul of his race, the Volk. Hitler believed that the Aryan race, to which all "true" Germans belonged, was the race whose blood (soul) was of the highest degree. God Himself had, in fact, created the Aryans as the most perfect men, both physically and spiritually.

Since the blood (soul) of the Aryans contained specific spiritual energies, the "cultural energies" or "racial primal elements," as Hitler often called them, the Aryans supplied the culture that creates the beauty and dignity of higher humanity. In other words, all that man calls higher culture was ultimately the product of the spiritual and creative energies that exist in the blood of the Aryans.

"All the human culture, all the results of art, science, and technology that we see before us today, are almost exclusively the creative product of the Aryan. This very fact admits of the not unfounded inference that he alone was the founder of all higher humanity, therefore representing the prototype of all that we understand by the word "man." He is the Prometheus of mankind from whose bright forehead the divine spark of genius has sprung at all times.... Exclude him- -and perhaps after a few thousand years darkness will again descend on the earth, human culture will pass, and the world turn to a desert." (Ibid., p. 290)

The "serpent" that brought about the contamination of pure Aryan blood was, of course, the Jew. "The mightiest counterpart to the Aryan is represented by the Jew."9 To Hitler, the Jews were, of course, not members of a particular religious creed, but a specific race:

"The Jew has always been a people with definite racial characteristics and never a religion; only in order to get ahead he early sought for a means which could distract unpleasant attention from his person. And what would have been more expedient and at the same time more innocent than the "embezzled" concept of a religious community? For here, too, everything is borrowed or rather stolen. Due to his own original special nature, the Jew cannot possess a religious institution, if for no other reason because he lacks idealism in any form, and hence belief in a here-after is absolutely foreign to him. And a religion in the Aryan sense cannot be imagined which lacks the conviction of survival after death in some form"
(Ibid., p. 306)

From Hitler's perspective the Jewish race was not created by God as one of the original root races of mankind and was, in his mind, un-Godly, inhuman, the embodiment of all that was evil. Hence the Jew " . . . stops at nothing, and in his vileness he becomes so gigantic that no one need be surprised if among our people the personification of the devil as the symbol for all evil assumes the living shape of the Jew."11 The goal of the Jews was the domination of the world, a task that could be achieved by the poisoning of Aryan blood. Hitler contended that the Jews used a variety of methods to accomplish this task. The most blatant was miscegenation, accomplished by Jewish "rape" of Aryan girls and Jewish importation of Blacks into Germany in order to further destroy Aryan purity and carry out this kind of "disarming" of the spiritually leading class "of his racial adversaries."
Source (Mein Kampf, pp. 316, 325)

To Hitler, the Jewish race was also attempting to poison the Aryan blood (soul) by utilizing social methods, such as cultural and political means. The Jew was the fundamental cause of the decadence that Hitler saw in modern art and literature. To Hitler, Jewish modem art was a deliberate attempt to infect the unconsciousness or inner self of the Aryan people. "Culturally he contaminates art, literature, the theater, makes a mockery of natural feeling, overthrows all concepts of beauty and sublimity, of the noble and the good, and instead drags men down into the sphere of his own base nature."
(Ibid., pp. 324, 326)
