I had tried to post an image using [img] code

I put the url between the two and after I posted it, the words "external Image" was there instead?

Ok, I took a deep breath


I read carefully the following:

To include a picture or graphic within the body of your message, you simply surround the address of the image as shown here:

So I surrounded the url of the image with the appropriate

Instead of the image being there, it reads " External Image"

Taking another deep breath now........

This site has massive traffic, nearly 2 million visitors and 14 million page-views in June alone.

As such, hot-linking to an image within threads can end up being a significant drain on the website hosting the original image. Because of this, the image code BBcode has been altered to automatically insert the external image link, rather than an inline image.

There are a couple methods around this, as explained in the help site, and Sauron's post.
