How do I take a screen shot of whatever happens to be on my screen at the time? Sorry to ask such a noob question, but I simply cannot remember. Thanks in advance.

You can go here, download a program, then when you want to capture the screen, hit "print screen|SysRq" on the keyboard.

It will save as a jpeg/gif or print the screen(if you have a printer), depending on your settings.

Edit: grammar

Thanks for the reply. But I figured it out, you DONT need a program either.

-Press "print screen"
-Open Paint
-Paste
DONE!

Good job skippy, I was about to post and say that would be the fastest way to get it done.

We don't need programs for everything.

Yeah I understand fully.

But paint is not a program specifically for Screen shots. Im not familiar with the program suggested but I was under the impression is was something for directly screen shots.

That is true, and until now, I was unaware you could use paint for that purpose, which would definetly be easier than the method I suggested.

Don't feel bad. There are probably thousands and thousands of people who never knew that, either.

For years I swore by third party apps to do my screen shots.

I was tickled pink when I found out about this!

ALT + Print Screen captures only the active window and not your entire desktop. Good if you don't want to advertise your desktop. I generally paste my captures into a Word document.
