Inferiority complex as a Canadian? Try Superiority Complex.

Nobody hates us except some people in the US (and who gives creedence to the ignorant, right?), we have a thriving democracy, national health care, porn on cable tv at 8pm, a strong dollar, a trade SURPLUS (imagine), no natural disasters to worry about, powerful beer, and are free to travel anywhere in the world without fear of being shot. Our biggest health crisis is NOT obesity, we have no death penalty, we can actually hold our elected officials accountable (and fire them), and we rank higher than the US in quality of life and education and literacy.

So, why exactly should he feel inferior?

Just asking.

Porn, Beer... and the rest of what you said. I have never felt so proud to be Canadian.

Beezer here, good day all.

I have lived in the United States.
I have lived in Canada.
I have lived in the UK.

What I am about to tell you will not be news to anyone, but thought maybe everyone needed to be reminded.

When I say "WE" I will be referring to all 3 nations.

We love our children.
We are thankful for our parents.
We need more money for food - fun - ect
We do not really like war, although sometimes it is needed.
We feel sorry for strays.
Winter can make us sad.
Spring makes us smile.
From time to time, we all drink too much.
We should hate less.
We should love more.
We should end terror and evil.
We should reward good deeds.
We should pay our teachers more.
We should respect our elders more.
No one should ever starve to death.

We should have some compassion for everyone! AMERICAN - BRITISH - CANADIAN - IRAQI - RUSSIAN - GERMAN - ECT - ECT.

Just wanted to remind everyone that although it is ok to have a lively debate in here, we should not let this thread degrade into nation hating.

Just my 2 Guinean francs' worth of talking.

- The irreproachable Mr. Beezer, at your service ©

I dont like bush at all but i have to say that i agree with him on this, hes there and started many of the problems that are currently happening. Atleast hes willing to see them through as best he can. No point in arguing if they should be there or not, they are and they have to deal with the mess that is there. BTW Alexander Keiths is the greatest Beer ever!

Apologies for not clarifying, I did mean among people I know of and it is Bush with his actions and little speeches about them like this that is ruining the great American Dream for those who once sought it.

my point - I'm tired of hearing him talk (and I can say the same about our PM) It has nothig to do with U good people of America or Australia or the UK, it's our "leaders" I can thank for my sadness and anger etc... They just seem to love delivering worse news after bad news and more bad news ... Just not so optimistic about the future anymore.

What Bush shoulda done is remind these Naval cadets why the US Navy was even started.......it was to combat Barbary (Muslim) Pirates.

The US and Europe were paying tribute (ransom) to these scum to allow our ships free passage, well President Jefferson got tired of it and sent the USS Enterprise to fight these pirates and was victorious.

The shipping lanes in the Mediterranean were freed from harassment....Thanks to the US Navy.

Even if you don't agree with the war in Iraq I hope that at least you can understand why the US cant pull out now. If the US were to pull out now the extremists would realize that all it takes to defeat the US is a few casualties and a lot of media coverage.

"a few casualties"

Talk about understatement of the year. Sure in retrospect to other conflicts the casulaty count is lower but to call the deaths of 2000+ troops "a few casualties" is an insult to anybody who has evern worn a uniform. The fact is no matter what we do the terrorist have won, we are now in a loose-loose situation. Sure we could claim a victory against the insurgents but it wouldnt change world oppinion about the US nor would it disuade terrorists who never gave a crap about their own lives in the first place from attacking again and again.

Name me a terrorist group that has won a war in the 20th and 21st century...like IRA, Al Qaeda, KKK, Basque, etc. Terrorists cant win.. they can target civilians and claim victory of penetrating a soft target but in the they lose.

alternateheaven I in no way aim to disrespect or dishonor the men an women of the US military, every life that we lose is a tragedy no doubt about it. I was simply saying that when compared to other wars in the past that have lasted 3 years the casualty low. However, my view of winning is not when everyone is all happy and in love with the US, my view of winning is when Iraq is secure and stable enough so that is can take care of its own. If Iraq can do that I could care less if people in France or Iran still hate the US because of the war.

Interesting Article I found regarding this Speech of Bush about Iraq:

Deconstructing the “National Strategy for Victory in Iraq”

NO STANDARDS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY: Two weeks ago, the Senate overwhelmingly endorsed an amendment calling on the Bush administration to provide a “schedule” for meeting U.S. objectives in Iraq, “information regarding variables that could alter that schedule, and the reasons for any subsequent changes to that schedule.” The NSVI completely rejects this call.

IGNORING KEY CHALLENGES: When decorated veteran Rep. Jack Murtha (D-PA) presented his Iraq plan two weeks ago, he offered two primary reasons for supporting redeployment. One was the heavy burden the Iraq war has placed on the U.S. military and its recruitment and retention efforts, many of which are at historically low levels. The second was the shifting sentiments of the Iraqi population; Murtha cited a recent poll that found “over 80 percent of Iraqis are strongly opposed to the presence of coalition troops, and about 45 percent of the Iraqi population believe attacks against American troops are justified.”

DISMISSING INCREASED VIOLENCE: The NSVI emphasizes that U.S. officials “track numerous indicators to map the progress of our strategy,” and offers websites where some of these reports are publicly available. “Americans can read and assess these reports to get a better sense of what is being done in Iraq and the progress being made on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.” The problem is that these reports have on numerous occasions been found to be inaccurate, or to overstate progress using incomplete or misleading data.

REPLACING METRICS WITH EMPTY PHRASES: In late-September, Gen. George Casey Jr., who oversees U.S. forces in Iraq, revealed that “[t]he number of Iraqi army battalions that can fight insurgents without U.S. and coalition help has dropped from three to one.” That meant only 700 Iraq Security forces were rated as “Level 1″ on the four point scale created by the U.S. military. "Level 1? on the four point scale created by the US military. Instead of addressing the problem, they've abandoned the ratings system. The NSVI notes that "now more than 120 Iraqi army and police battalions are in the fight."

THE NATIONAL PAT ON THE BACK: The NSIV is less of a strategy and more of a pat on the back. Much of the 35 pages is devoted to describing how well things are going. Oddly, the strategy declares on Page 5 that “Our Strategy Is Working.”

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

"Our Strategy is WORKING?"

Where?

Well, I think that this Deconstruction pretty much explains it - Bush did not tell anything at all and the so-called National Strategy for Victory in Iraq is nothing new and not a Plan at all!

The question is why would Bush want US soldiers out of Iraq when he knows there wont be a better exuse for abusing iraqi oil!!!!
The more iraqi civillians die the more the number of insurgents leadin to more US troops getin killd so i think iraq is gona turn into anotha vietnam, the US wil only pull out when about 50,000 US soldiers r killed!!

That is the whole point, the Public relations team is very good at keeping the president in a very clean, sanitized environment so it looks good on TV.

What better that our own young Cadettes, after all they will never dare to say anything derogatory in front of the president.

Cheney will never leave Iraq, no even if the Iraqi oil freezes over.

He made a commitment to the oil barons

BTW we run out of money for the support of the victims of natural disasters in the south.

While Bush is asking for billions to give to Iraq.

!!!!!What a president

Of course you can leave Iraq.

There's something called "the rest of the world", and hey, believe it or not, a lot of us are pretty smart and can fix what you have so badly broken.

Of course, there's no guarantee that Iraq's next government doesn't end up being anti-American, but hey, that's as much Bush's fault as anyone's.

And hey, that's freedom, right? Freedom for your country to hate another country. Yeehaw.

So get the US out and put in a more moderate, multinational force. Maybe even some (gasp) Arabs who speak the language and maybe (gasp) have things in common with the people of Iraq.

How will that not work?

I thought it was up to the American public and Congess and stuff, I thought that was what "freedom" was about? Being able to say NO to your governement is true freedom, no? So... does that mean that the US citizens are no longer free to determine their countries future? Does this mean that all their democracy really means is that they get to pick whoever is going to lie to them for the next 4 years?

OH! Thats right, they have given up the right to determine their countries own future in return for bad television programs! I forgot.

"Dental Plan!"
"Lisa needs new braces!"
"A free keg of beer for your meetings!"
"Dental Plan!"
"Lisa needs new braces!"

We were able to fold our governement here in Canada over a kick back scheme and about a million in questionable finances.. does that mean we Canadians have MORE freedom and democracy then the Americans? Does AlCIADuh hate us more then?

So whoever wins the next election will have to deal with the mess that exists in Iraq still.. long after Bush is gone? Does this also mean that the American public (who do not want the war to continue - with the exception of a few blood thirsty individuals who haven't figured out that basically everyday events we USE to call masacures are now daily occurences over there) has been completely betrayed by its whole governement?

Why isn't anyone speaking up for the starving Americans who all just lost their jobs at GM and have to pay outragous heating and gas bills (merry xmas) this season BECAUSE of Bush's war (not to mention the wiping out of an entire city because of cut backs to that cities infastructure to pay for that war)... how is it you are all not completely outraged?

Anyone who believes anymore that the public is in ANY control over its governement anymore is completely nieve and isn't paying attention. His popularity is so low that its dangerous for him to remain in office anymore but no one will "do" anything about him. How is this situation possible?

Its not that 30% of Americans approve of what he is doing on the job. Its that70% do NOT APPROVE of what he is doing on the job.

If you had a job and either 70% of the managers, or 70% of the rest of the staff didn't like you.. or 70% of the customers didn't like you, wouldn't you just like... save yourself the grief and go find a roll that you will be more appreciated in, a place that you'll fit in better? Wouldn't you? Of course you would, thats because you are sane... only the insane figure that things are going to get better in a situation like this.. that things could start "looking up any time soon". Thats crazy. Period. But for some reason, no one is firing this guy and everyone is allowing him to continue his destructive path which is destroying the country and the world. Thats crazy too.

Why is he able to hold on the white house with this attitude? There must be something huge being planned, and it must have to do with the police tactics in Miami... they KNOW something is coming, they just didn't want to trigger a terror alert this time "because we didn't want you all to think that it was because of slumping approval ratings.. we didn't want to be accused of that.. so we just put more police on the street to scare the terrorists instead" (sure) ... and its the only way for them to get out of this mess really is a major terror attack. Crazy thought. But with this attitude they must know that something is coming down that will make us all remember these times as the "good ol days".

This is all crazy!

"DENTAL PLAN!"

-VMX

PS: Is he hinting that the only way to end the war is to end his presidency? Does he need help with that? Is that what this was about?

, Bush has no other place to play act, Vis Mega , no body wants him except for his followers that look to him as a god,
, the useless turd has failed in everything he has actually tried to do in his life ie; oil company , US Airforce, you name it he's screwed it up !!!!

Look at the stupid mess he's gotten us into over his and his Administrations BS lies and deceptions and he's even failing in that
!!!! Bush is evil all the way to the core of what soul he has,... if any,... he enjoys killing too much, if I remember right , he was suppose to be the Governor ( when he was governor of TX ) that had the most Death row excutions under his belt and he sure as H-E-double toothpicks, doesn't care how many people on either side die in his Iraqi-nam, just so he can play Dictator to two countries,... ours and Iraq's
.

When someone DOES try to do something about the lies and deceptions that the Bush Administration has been pulling,.... the Administration goes into dirty-attacks, they get on their bellies and snake along the floor to do their dirty tactics without being seen or caught,..... but that is finally coming to an end,..... people are wising up , a lot of them that had voted for Bush have finally opened their eyes and seeing Bush and his Administration for what they are, thieves, cowards, satanic followers, liars, and terrorists themselves.

Why the house of Reps., and Congress hasn't started Impeachment proceedings is anyone's guess, but their starting to really pi$$ me off with their "do nothing" behavior

, heck he could even find his way out the right door on his first time when he was doing his stupid speach in China or whereever that was
,.... Bush needs to leave the White House for good and go back to what he does best,..... running oil companies into the ground and excuting people on the death row

Im proud of our good President, he made some mistakes (like any other Man), but I like him and one day we will all look back and see the good he did in the Middle-East....he brought freedom to millions.

Hell he freed millions of woman in Afghanistan and gave them the right to VOTE......funny dgtemp how you never gave President Bush credit for that.

OMG, "he made some mistakes ???? Hell that's all he's been doing is making mistakes and poor judgement calls ! The only thing Bush brought to anyone is death and destruction from hiding behind the Oval Office desk, our service people are the one's that has done all the work !!!!

Give credit where credit is really due,.... to the armed forces, not to Bush... the man has done nothing but cause more killings of humanbeings,.
How anyone could or would give credit to a so-called-man like Bush who hide from his service duties of Vietnam has me totally baffled
.

I'm not attacking you personally , I just don't get why people stand up for that coward.
