a holy war can be translated, roughly, into violence on behalf of religion.


now, please note that I am not saying that all of Islam is involved in a jihad but, simply put, that there are some bad people out there who commit acts of terror and violence and claim they are doing it in the name of allah and that, unfortunately, is seen as terror in the name of Islam.

Muslims just wanna continue living their lives like everyone else, ever since Islamic extremism started Muslims tried to denounce it and tell the world it has nothing to do with Islam then 9/11 happens by terrorists in the name of Islam, again people turn back to blaming Islam allthough Iran was one if not the first country that condemned the attacks saying Islam has nothing to do with it.

Then Afghanistan/Iraq invasion happens (both Islamic countries) and the world tells everyone how evil they are, again Muslims world-wide try to condemn the attacks untill after some time, they are no longer heard..

Now Iran is being blamed of trying to get the "bomb" and attack any nation it wants for the simple joy of it while it will end up burying itself (pretty stupid huh?) And now the West is going after Syria too, yup all Islamic countries...

So what Im saying is, it doesnt matter how loud Muslims shout, the West wont listen and will simply do as it pleases.

shire, I agree wioth much of what you are saying however I think part of the problem might be the "too little, too late" issue with the muslim world speaking out against the terror. it took an act of terror in Jordan to get Jordan and, subsequently, Saudi Arabia to become proactive in their pursuit to an end to terror.


now, with regards to Iran, when their leaders call for the destruction of another nation, without provocation, the entire world should then be wary of allowing them any kind of explosives, let alone one made from nuclear material.

Text Hi All. It's fascinating to go back to the beginning of this thread and read the doomsday predictions of watching the riots in France. Almost like Pat Robertson's predictions about hurricanes and 9/11.

While there is clearly a move throughout the world to engage in a radical "Jihad," the situation in France seems much more like the race riots we lived with in the U.S. during the '60s. There was a huge cultural shift ocurring, and some of it spilled into violence.

France must deal with the discrimination, unemployment and poverty facing its minority populations. It's not a question of giving in to violence, it's a question of examining whether the government and culture is creating conditions which trap some of its citizens unfairly.

Once those questions are addressed, the case of criminal violence can be addressed in a more rational, and forceful, manner. Hooliganism is different than a violent reaction to a denial of basic human dignity.
