Get:
www.castblaster.com...

It's PC-only, so I have no idea how it works, but I've heard great things about it.

On the Mac, I use Garage Band which is also pretty easy.
1. Record your voice
2. Add music (if you have mixing software)
3. Save as a mono MP3, 48kbps
4. Upload it.

As far as I can tell... we are currently the ONLY site that makes it that easy. (Except for GarageBand.com but it's limited to music submissions only)

How are you managing the interview? Skype? Audio in AIM? Or -gulp- a microphone on your analog telephone?

Just so everyone knows....

After reading SO's comments about CastBlaster I went and downloaded it. I watched the video tutorial on the CastBlaster.com website (8 minutes) and hell I already feel like a guru.

It's awesome, all PC owners I recommend this to you! You are fine with the trial version as well as it's limitation is 10-minute max podcast, so you are fine for ATS.

SO-

Im using audio in AIM. It'd be cool if I could interview "The Supreme Skeptic Overlord" sometime, if you ever get some time, that would be great!

Ditto that!

mulberry, you've got a great voice (and I'm a sucker for the accent).

In addition to your painting, sculpting and classical music background, please tell me you sing.

Oh, and I suppose I should cancel my trip to scenic Canberra...

I used to sing mate........ then I took up smoking at uni and stopped most of my musical stuff when I was studying, just didnt have the time. Looking at getting back into it properly and not limiting myself to bad renditions of Copacabana when extremely drunk at karaoke.

yeah cancel the trip to " scenic Canberra"..........although they do have a thriving porn industry there. ( no joke either)

Wow. I'm glad that ATS/BTS has evolved for the better.

Its really nice to hear member's voices and accents, keep it cool!

I'll have to upload my little research on chupacabra humor as soon as I can find a mic.

Hey mates,

Been out and a bout for a while, just stepped back in yesterday and I'm so happy to be back. Bringing Audio into the world of ATS is amazing and definately cutting edge.

I'm working on my first Podcast now but am having supreme difficulties thinking of a first one. There are so many options and strangely so many different pressures since it's audio, not written word.

I'll be happy to be contributing to ATS in this new fashion and hope you all enjoy my podcasts!!

Peace,

00ps

Nice promo's!!!

Hehe, my Dad is going to be so proud that I announced my drinking problem on the internet, aww shucks! LOL

Cool stuff, really professional feel to all of it. I think this has a very good chance of bringing in a lot of new members.

I should have the first episode of my new show ready by the weekend hopefully, so make sure you all look out for that!

Can't wait for VideoCasts... LOL

I'm getting my podcast ready, it's been slow going, I work 12 hour-shifts. Anyway, I had a question about 'copyrighted material' in the podcasts. What does that mean? Does this mean I can't play a snippet of Britany Spears? My favorite tv commercial? Or does this mean I can't read a portion of 'The Da Vinci' code?

Sorry if it's a silly question, I just don't want to break any rules.

EDIT: Typo

"Fair use" usually applies here.

For now, the RIAA and similar organizations have been hands-off PODcasters if you follow the following:

1) snippets of commerical music should not exceed 30 seconds and be mono with credit mentioned at least in show nots (just edit the comments post automatically created when you podcast is accepted).

2) short snippets of movies, tv shows, and commercials generally follow the same rules, except that the source should already be available as DVD's or video tapes. The general thinking is that playing first run material without permission will cause problems.

3) it's a good idea not to build your tags (lead-in or fade-out music) from commerical music unless you've obtained permission because this is seen as an identifier of your "show".

4) don't ready any material not in the public domain (books), but reading portions of current news is
fine as long as you give the URL in the audio and show notes.

There's an amazing amount of great podsafe music out there, just do a Google search.

I can't seem to get the podcasts working lately. When I try to load any PODcast later than ATS PODcast Number Two, I get this message:

The requested URL /podcasts/atspodcast_75.mp3 was not found on this server.

Does anybody else have this problem, or is it just me? Help...

Where are you trying to get the podcasts from (i.e., from what page or link)?

If I were to guess (and I guess I am ), it seems like maybe an incomplete URL problem.

Aside from tracking that down, you may want to use iTunes to follow the feeds. Once I got it and WMP to stop cat-fighting, it's working out quite nicely.

Just Like Majic

Got it working through iTunes. Thanks Majic. Guess it's time to ditch my lame aggregator.

I would like to take a moment to let you know this.. YOU DO NOT NEED AN IPOD TO LISEN!.. All PODcasts are uploaded and available for download as mp3 files.. which will play in almost any media player you have on your computer. YOU can listen and it is just a click away my friends.

Please don't miss out.. you can hear the actual voices of our fellow members from all round the world.. No iPod needed!

You can create your own PODcast as well.. it is really easy.. if you have a Microphone on your computer you already have what you need.. you can search for more information.. You can also download free software for recording, editing and creating your own MP3 files for upload to ATS here:

audacity.sourceforge.net...

It is totally free software.. it takes some working with.. but this is what I used.. if you want to give it a try and have any questions please send me a u2u.. I will help you.

PODcasts and PODcasting is for EVERYONE here.. and it is so easy to both listen and join in!

Give it a try.. listen and enjoy, better yet, create your own PODcast!

If you have a dial up connection. downloads of the PODcasts can take a while.. On broadband it is much faster!.. either way it will work. Again.. last time.. You don't need an iPod to listen!

Again, if you have any questions please feel free to send me a u2u.

Do you have to have 500 ATS points, before you can podcast??

plus, is'nt it true that copyright law, can allow you to play a minute of any song?
