I'm reading 2 rescued, 6 missing.
Several cars and a tractor trailer were on the bridge at the time, and as many as 20 people went into the water. (so I would guess maybe more missing, they just don't know yet.)

So sad.

A cargo ship weighing hundreds of thousands of tons loses power as it approaches the bridge making it impossible to maneuver.

Please point out how a person's race could change the laws of physics.
He could be a DEI Dwarf hire or a gay trans furry for all I know? How is that racist?

Who is he? The captain? Yes maybe a white diversity hire since the ship is rented by Maersk i think and flagged Singapore. Those damn diversity hires. Hire only east Asian and this wouldn't have happened right?

Those pylons holding the bridge might not be 50 ft at the base. Surely wider at the very bottom but likely that some rip rap was there at the water line widening as it went down.

Apparently after the ships warning they closed the bridge to traffic so the only cars on it were some construction workers', repairing potholes.

It was those poor souls who seem to be the casualties.

Possibly best to just stick with "person" methinks.

Hope so.

She may however have been taking on water given the list which may also affect her tolerances where clearance of the bottom is concerned.

Some people like to walk bridges like that if it is also a walkway I am sure that would be creepy to realize you are on it as it sinks into the water.

Ever have that dream where you are running and just not going fast enough.

And it feels as if you are falling back the way or sinking into the ground?

Pretty much that in reality i should imagine for anyone walking the thing when it collapsed.

Probably be rather surreal for about 2 seconds before all the additional falling girders crushed you flat as a pancake.

Horrible way to go really.

The thought of children involved tears at my heart.

What children? Where does it say children are involved??

It was the thought I was referring to maybe you missed that?
That was early on before I knew anything. I thank God no children were involed.

What does this video you posted have to do with the bridge collapse?!?

I'm confused by your post.

It's a sheriff talking about border security. I think you may have put in the wrong video number.

🤔 🥱

In case this crash turns out to be due to a cyber attack.

The Sheriff in the video I posted, wasn't just talking about our vulnerabilities at the border, but also cyber vulnerabilities in general.

His department suffered a breach that left them without their computer system for a couple of months.

Hopefully, our Space Force Guardians were monitoring the signals to the ship at the time, and would be able to discern any signs of foul play.

it looks like it aimed right for the bridge. Reminded me of planes flying into buildings

Almost seems like an attack

Wow! Even though the power only goes out for a short time, it appears to have been timed perfectly to created a perfect storm situation.

The ship appears to be turning into the piling, but it could have just been attempting a last minute recovery maneuver after having it's power restored.

The GPS track (shown on my post from MarineTraffic), shows only a slight turn of a few degrees as it headed towards bridge.

Saying that, these few degrees were the difference for hitting the main support, or not....

Zoomed in ...

You need a pay account on MarineTraffic in order to get GPS timeline annotated tracking, which would show when the ship took that slight slip to starboard as well as a lot of other metrics. Perhaps a member on here has that and will add to the track info.
