A yokel is an an uneducated , unsophisticated person from the countryside , which is what the majority of the Houthi's are regardless of their sophisticated weaponry.

To be fair...the non-yokel Iranians supplied and trained the yokel Houthis with that sophisticated weaponry.

Sleepy Joe releasing six billion dollars of previously seized wealth to the Iranians certainly seems to have been a silly (or criminal) idea with the benefit of hindsight. Ridiculous.

Yokels that are attacking shipping with sophisticated anti ship, ballistic missiles and drones causing shipping to reroute round the Cape causing massive delays and driving up energy and consumer prices?

It was yokels who kicked Russia , America and Britain out of Afghanistan bombing them didn't change the outcome.

This was the wrong move at the wrong time , unless you want to be a "wartime leader" at the time of an election.

They're well supplied and capable of projection. How many times have they directly attacked cities and oil refineries? I remember the 2019 attack on Saudi Arabia and what that nation asked of the international community at the time. Maybe we should sanction all nations adjacent to the red sea? Claim their foreign assets as compensation for the cost of sailing around the cape whilst we absolutely demonise them for literally causing global warming?

What's the alternatives here? We're dealing with terrorists and a nation that's gripped in civil war.

Inflation?

Yokels with high tech weapons and the right motivation are as dangerous as those more sophisticated.

A second volley of attacks on YEMEN have occurred.

Friday Attacks: www.cnbc.com...

Biden is toying with them.

You have to do like Trump, and tell these attackers that their top leaders will be "taken out" if the attacks on American interests continue.

This should start enough terrorist attacks on UK and American soil to start martial law and delay elections.

Or, it's a necessary, proportionate and plainly reasonable response to terrorists who need a bit of a slap?

I totally agree.

Some on here seem only seem to see it as US politics and the stupid left vs right argument thats destroying your democracy.
Like I said, the Houthi will try to escalate in the immediate area with support from Iran before attempting anything more destructive.

You can't ignore their sophisticated weopanry.

Not ignoring it but it pales into insignificance compared to the sophisticated weaponry we have at our disposal in the region to protect shipping , what can't be ignored is the escalation this represents and the signal it sends to others in the region.

Cameron is a war hawk and Biden is an idiot , neither are worth the price we could end up paying.

It is a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" type of situation.
If the Houthi are left to attack shipping without consequence then they'll get bolder and esculate, If the Houthi are attacked as they have been, they may esculate anyway. It's a no win scenario with only Iran benefiting.

I see it more as cause and effect , Israel's slaughter in the Palestinian territories was always going to draw a response from others in the region , stopping the slaughter of innocent men , women and children is the only way to secure shipping routes through the Red Sea , bombing Yemen will achieve nothing but produce more corpses and put our country at greater risk.
