I had a pet rabbit once...Honestly one of the best animals I ever owned. My bedroom door opened up to the backyard, he was free to roam. Never caged
him. He would get so excited when I came home he would run around the yard and do these flips that were just spectacular. After he calmed down he
would come in the house and jump up on the couch with me and nuzzle. Never once peed or pooped in the house. Came home one night and he didn't run up
to me....found him in the backyard turned inside out. A racoon had got him. Almost as sad a day as when my Nana died.
I would not do this. Chances are high that the other will die soon after if they were pals. I heard this a lot about rabbits and also other small
animals. It could be wrong or due to a sickness that is transferable, too.
Do not put that dead body near the other living rabbit!
Instead it is recommended to clean and scrub out the old rabbit housing to get the scent away and look for a new pal for the remaining one.
I raise rabbits and they actually don't really notice if another is dead. I found a bunch of babies using a dead baby as a step stool to get up closer
to the feeder.
I hate when our animals die, It bothers me way more than it used to since I got oldish. I will reevaluate old again if I get over a hundred years
old...till then it is oldish.
We still have three fish and two cats, and when they die, we may still get one cat....that is it. Hopefully the cat will outlive us.
