It was more common in years past, but here on ATS older members who know the ropes and stuff can "adopt a member" which basically means they can take a new member under their wing and answer any questions they have and help them out until they're good to go. So that member would be the "parent". It was just a neat little thing to help out new members.

If I make a post in a particular thread , how can I scroll back to that particular post I made in the thread the next day? .. Its really hard! .. I have to keep browsing through every page to find where my post is and also , if someone's replied to my post or no

How do I get a picture next to my name in the posts I make?

I uploaded a picture to ats ,went to "change your account settings" and pasted the url in the "your avatar" and "your background image" box .. still doesnt seem to work

Also , clicked on the picture and tried the option of "use in ats mini-profile" .. dint work

What does this mean? Displayed below my avatar?

I know p is for posts and s is for stars .. what about F , W and K?

F stands for flags
W stands for your WATS rating
and K stands for you Karma

Both WATS and Karma are based on stars, flags, applause, and such.

I don't know if you found this one so I'll answer it just it case. Go to your Profile and right up top you'll see Posts, Threads and stuff. Click posts and then the thread link and it'll take you to your post.

You can also see if someone replied to your post by going to your private messages which is under Tools and clicking "replies", Every time someone replies to you you get sent a notice.

Hello Im new and thinking the exact same thing. Theres soo much interesting things on this site I feel like i can read them all in one day which would be probably near impossible, as each article is in much detail. Anyway thankyou for the tips and hints!

Just under the thread title above the first post.
Number of flags given, and next to that a blue-written icon which says "Flag it". Click on that.

PS Unless you need to have 20 posts first? Not sure.

what does the "p", "f", "s", "w" and "k" counters under the avatars mean?

Posts, Flags, Stars, WATS Rating, and Karma Rating.

The first three are self explanatory and and both WATS and Karma are based on posts, stars, flags, applause, etc.

How do you embed a Youtube video? Not sure ..how. Umm I know how to embed FROM youtube but don't know how to embed it here on a post .. Thank You for your help and patience

When you enter into the "post a reply/comment field - there is a series of buttons just above the text entry area. the second, from the right, says "vid:Youtube" - enter ONLY the video number from the videos URL ( at the end of the youtube pages http address) and that should do it!
