Another thought I have is that our medical system in Canada is already ridiculously strained. We have a lot of “hallway medicine” articles that discuss the issue.

If we haven’t stopped the flow in of potentially sick people, what will that additional strain do to our system? I wonder how many people are leaving because they fear their own countries’ health care system won’t be able to handle a pandemic.

Interestingly enough, I had read this January 4, 2020 article about birth tourism and what a drain it was to our health care system (yet lucrative in some cases).

As far as I can tell, so far, viruses with a higher infectious rate also have a higher level of stability and are less likely to mutate.

Measles 12-18 Stable, single serotype, long-lasting immunity
Mumps 5-7 Stable, single serotype, long-lasting immunity
Rubella 5-7 Stable, single serotype, long-lasting immunity
Poliovirus 5-7 Stable, 3 serotypes, long-lasting immunity
Respiratory syncytial virus 1-2 Two major antigenic groups, multiple antigenic variants within the groups, re-infection can occur
Influenza 1-2

So, considering that this one has an R0 of approximately 3.0, who knows, I'm not a virologist.

Right, but we tend to think we know everything. There is always discovery of new things good and bad. For instance permafrost and glacial ice melting, ice core drilling going back into history thousands of years, could reveal something lying dormant waiting to whack us a good one.

I hope it's slowing down, but then why the huge hospital ..
I have no answers. Like the rest of you.
Found this ... I find it compellingly enough to say imo it isn't near over for Wuhan.

it looks good imo, it's not risen BY 1,094 ...it's risen to 1,094...from 988, that's only 10% increase.

Compelling and heart-breaking. Cleared, obviously, by CCP as a presentation.

I can’t believe people believe the numbers that are being fed to them...
Wishful thinking...
Absolute misinformation...
The dead in their homes dwarves the fed number of infected populace of the world in one city alone...

It doesn't take much to get sick from the cold or flu. You just have to get viral particles into a mucus membrane where they can take hold. That can take no time at all really no matter which one you're talking about, even corona viruses work this way.

They might have actually contained it. The measures are pretty severe but they might have stopped the exponential spread. If people keep taking precautions the virus spread has to be at such a slow rate it might just peter out.

They're running out of/already ran out of hospital beds, so the number of critical patients in hospitals in Wuhan is going to slow down dramatically.

Also, heard they are outta test kits, and people stopped going to the hospital just staying home. Dire info, if real. Common sense should tell us in our head’s not to trust these numbers out of China.
