Notepad ++
I use this free open source software every time I need to code or edit code in html5, _javascript, or PHP. There is a great plugin for java that I like to go with it, www.sunjw.us...

I find this tool to be the most useful and efficient editor I have ever used. I think the community using this is in the millions worldwide. If you like to code your own sites or edit templates available this is my favorite for that job.

I’m partial to Dreamweaver for basic html & css, but I use notepad++ any time I’m making a quick change. Then Microsoft visual studios for the ever so fun .net backend

I used to use Dreamweaver at one time but that machine got hit by lightning and I didn't feel like getting another licensed copy.

Yes! I love it. I use that, Atom, and sometimes VS Code, which coincidentally rhymes with "it takes a really, really frakking long time to load".

I always use Notepad++, not for editing or coding, but for taking notes and/or writing. It's great for being able to keep multiple text documents open in tabs and flip back and forth between them. I also love how you can completely configure everything to make it look or function exactly how you want. Whether you just want a barebones program to view text files or a coding tool, Notepad++ is perfect once you set it up just right.
