Some people might just also prefer the middle ground, maybe the 2 nations could sit down and try to act rationally rather than emotionally and with tit for tat tariff increases in an ever repeating cycle of 'but they are worse than us' both nations would benefit from working together, would they not?

China is a Communist country and they want to own the world on a 100 year plan and they are doing very good...well ahead of schedule.

Companies move manufacturing overseas because the labor is cheap and other regulations, etc are low. It is a natural tendency for a corporation to make this decision because it leads to higher profits for shareholders.

While it may lead to lower prices, the downside is that it is taking jobs away from the American middle class. This is why everyone is so hard up to go to college and get in debt to their eye balls. It used to be if you could just show up on time, follow directions, you could earn a decent living driving bolts.

The American consumer has to decide if they want cheaper prices or jobs.

I don't mind paying a little more for a quality product that keeps my neighbors employed. The race to the bottom never ends well in the long term.

It looks to me that the more "left-leaning" folks want to side with China and it's regime instead of the US of A.

Now I might be wrong, but I never have been before, so there is that.

Last week he got millions to support Denmark !!! 😎

That has clearly been tried already.
China don;t seem at all interested in any changes. Why would they be? They've been raping the US for years with massively one sided trading. For them there is nothing to gain. They're already fully exploiting the US.

...and isn't it interesting that Bernie's disciples just love to talk about the 1% - who are in fact the owners and bosses of these corporations putting squeezing out a few extra $ of proft from lower labour costs at the expense of American workers. Apparently they now love the 1%... how dare Trump attempt to hurt their profit!!! Same with the stock market, lol.. SHRIEK the Dow is down 500 points.. the horror of all those rich people losing money!!!

Please explain how imposing tariffs and starting a trade war with a country like China that will harm your economy is putting your country first.

Starting a Trade war? Liberals and their wars. They love em. It is something that should have never happened in the first place. Now Trump is going to take care of it and people are losing their minds once again.

American tech companies need Rare Earth materials , China has Rare Earth materials which is why American companies use Chinese companies.

China will beg to sells us magnets and "rare earth metals" if every American company listened to Trump.

They are exploiting the world. The only good news is they are now having problems as much of their population moves into middle class. They are becoming too costly, so now is the time to move to South America for production if cheap labor is desired.

Those vast majority of those "jobs" will be gone with the oncoming automation revolution. Sure some jobs will be available for people programming and maintaining the robots but for the most part the rich will get richer thanks to plummeting labor costs.

China controls most of the cheap goods manufacturing. You'd be hard pressed to find a clothing manufacturer that can produce huge quantities that isn't in China, Vietnam, etc. Sure, there are some small boutique brands that are "made in the US."

Yeah, it was bad optics for Trump, but 1) those decisions were made prior to him being Pres and 2) any cheap clothing brand is going to be made overseas. That is just the way the fashion business works.

But you said you dont need them.

Obviously, you do require them to exist and operate overseas in the manner that they do.

Automation will undoubtedly bring about mass unemployment, China or no China.

Trumps there to facilitate the corporations and the rich, he does not give a rat's arse about the American middle class.

What the hell would he even know about being middle-class ffs being born with a silver spoon stuck where the sun don't shine?

The American consumer wants the best product at the cheapest cost, simple supply and demand, something Trump and his ilk should understand in spades.

China makes #ty products that last a fraction as long as a product made properly. The issue is consumers have grown used to short replacement cycles...nothing seems to last these days. Best to buy quality at twice the price and have it last 10 times longer.

Good point.

If he tweets it, is it fake news?

I know its subject to change without notice.
