With some help from British intelligence, CIA operative Kermit Roosevelt overthrew Mossadegh in August of 1953, installing as ruler the exiled Shah, Reza Pahlavi. Washington then forced the British to give US oil companies a major share in the Anglo-Persian concession. More than two decades followed under the Shah's authoritarian and pro-US rule.
But in 1979, a massive grassroots revolution overthrew the Shah and ushered in an Islamic government under Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. When militant Iranian students took over the US Embassy in Tehran that year, the US ended diplomatic relations, froze assets, and established a ban on US exports and investments. Washington has maintained a hostile posture ever since, including support for a war against Iran by Iraq's leader, Saddam Hussein.
In the 1990's, as Iran's revolutionary orthodoxy faded, the Islamic government improved relations with former Soviet republics and many European countries, as well as China and India. Oil and gas deals were struck with foreign firms. But relations between the US and Iran remained tense, US oil companies were excluded from the lucrative petro-deals, and the Bush administration named Iran as a member of the "axis of evil."
“Even sons and daughters and close family members of the Ayatollah’s are coming to Christ. (The Ayatollahs) are seeing the threat come closer and closer and that’s one of the reasons why persecution is on the rise.” Aalipour, born and raised a Muslim, fled political oppression in Iran and eventually found “peace in Christ” through exposure to ex-patriot Iranian Christians.

I suspect that "millions" is an over-optimistic estimate.
Now, said Aalipour, there are conservatively 800,000 to a million converts, who meet secretly in a fast-growing house church network under the threat of arrest and imprisonment.

No one asks why Iran is under attack... Or why the US only attacks countries whose military are much much much smaller in capabilities....

Switching from the one, true religion to the one, true religion.
Doesn't say much for their belief in Islam. Probably says the same for their belief in Christianity. Go with the one that doesn't get you killed.

The US overthrew their government so oil companies could get rich. Not some minor transgression.

We did this in other countries to prevent communism from taking hold. How many of those countries call for our deaths daily now?

China's "threat" is entirely economic with a side of espionage. They have a warm body advantage over the US, but that does them no good when they can't get those bodies inside this countrys border. Russia is a more traditional threat, but its Ali-Frazier. Russia "beat" the US by decision in the Vietnam proxy war, US knocked them totally out by crippling their economy in the 80s, no reason to believe a third match wouldn't be even more decisive.
