What Medium is Propagating Electromagnetic Waves?

What is a wave?

In physics, mathematics, and related fields, a wave is a disturbance of a field in which a physical attribute oscillates repeatedly at each point or propagates from each point to neighboring points, or seems to move through space.

What field is this in the case of EM waves?

What is spacetime?

In physics, spacetime is any mathematical model that fuses the three dimensions of space and the one dimension of time into a single four-dimensional continuum.

Spacetime is a mathematical concept. Not a physical field.

What is gravity? Well it isnt a force.

Gravity is most accurately described by the general theory of relativity (proposed by Albert Einstein in 1915) which describes gravity not as a force, but as a consequence of the curvature of spacetime caused by the uneven distribution of mass.

Gravity is a fictitious force and the consequence of the curvature of the mathematical, non physical concept.......

So, back to the initial question, what field is propagating a disturbance, in the case of EM waves?

Mainstream science itself claims that EM waves are the disturbance of some sort of medium, why is mainstream science also acting like there are particles being emitted by a source of EM radiation? Thats like claiming we are emitting sound particles when we talk.

You can also wonder why scientists are looking for gravitons if gravity is not a force but the bending of the "fabric" of spacetime?

Let me give you your intellectually honest options.

You agree that there is a universal field with physical properties that propagates vibrations which we observe as EM radiation. You agree there is an Aether like field. You accept the consequences of the existence of such a field.

Thanks for your attention. Good talk.

So what is the medium, mr. Simple?

I would say the medium is the sea of electrons. How the strength of an electron can bounce around in its area of probability is a result of all the electromagnetic waves propagating from all directions.

It is a field.
A field is

The region in which a particular condition prevails, especially one in which a force or influence is effective regardless of the presence or absence of a material medium.

Or do you want an excurse into Maxwells field equations? Because that is the foundation of electromagnetism, and it works.

You cannot argue with Maxwell. Generations of electrical engineers and scientists were and are and will be using those equations. If you are arrogant enough to doubt them, give very good examples how they are wrong.

Sorry if this sounds pissed off, but this is the foundation of electricity. "What medium is propagating" - no material medium needed. Maxwell gives the answers.

Physicists believe that at the tiniest scales, space emerges from quanta.

Gravity is not a force that propagates through space but a feature of spacetime itself.

The Lorentz force, or electromagnetic force, is the combination of the electric and magnetic force on a point charge due to electromagnetic fields.

At least thats about what i can remember from my Uni days.

It's...it's...it's the same thing they use to put you to sleep for an operation; it's the 'either'...errr...no, no, the "ether"...errr...the "aether". Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!

One thing we do know is reality always turns out to be much stranger than anything we could have ever imagined.

The thing is we are made of the very thing we are experiencing. It's just that language is a representation or abstraction of something that cannot be represented with words. Yes, nature behaves in repeatable patterns within a well defined context. But for the most part, reality is more strange than it is mundane.

There is no such thing as time

It all comes down to rogue waves converging at every level of reality to finally produce this:

"Turn around
Look at what you see
In her face
The mirror of your dreams"

Fabric of space.

Not including time.

Gravity is not a force that propagates through space but a feature of spacetime itself.

But spacetime is not a thing. It is a concept made up by men.

Sofar the answer seems to be that this Aether-like field is electrical in nature. Can someone now explain why mainstream science is acting like particles are being emitted by sources of EM when this is not the case if EM waves are vibrations of a field. Also explain the difference to Aether. If noone explains this then I have to conclude that the Aether exists with all Earth-stopping consequences it entails.

Scientists do not look for gravitons any longer, that ship has sailed some time ago.

Also, electromagnetic waves do not need a medium to propagate. The comparison to sound is not valid at all.

Basic physics course at a local college would answer your questions. I don't think it is possible to teach you all that stuff in a vew sentences on a forum.

That claim is the whole basis of this thread, isnt it? They are not waves then, since according to science, waves are,

In physics, mathematics, and related fields, a wave is a disturbance of a field in which a physical attribute oscillates repeatedly at each point or propagates from each point to neighboring points, or seems to move through space.

Try to say something scientific that doesnt directly contradict science, ok.

Photons. So whatever light is currently using to get to your eyes. Since light is in the EM spectrum too.

Are we trying to deny EM should be able to get through space or something?

We suspect they can be either a wave or particle with the wave particle duality theory.

You simply don't unterstand what a field is.

Well, like I said - noone can teach you basic physics on a Forum.

This whole thread seems to be made to proof some pseudo scientific new age nonsense, so I am out. Deny Ignorance.

Thats the point isnt it? If EM radiation is a disturbance of a medium it is not the emission of particles.
