Tonight the Israeli Beresheet lunar lander is expected to touch down on the moon in a region called Mare Serenitatis (Sea of Serenity) which is located north of the Apollo 17 landing site. I haven't seen this posted yet on ATS and I thought it may be worth sharing. A live stream of the event is also available:

Beresheet Heads for Historic Lunar Landing

If the landing is successful, the Beresheet lander is designed to last 2-3 days on the surface as there is no thermal control system, so the lander will overheat in the lunar day. While Beresheet is operating its magnetometer will measure traces of the ancient lunar magnetic field, which was once as strong as Earth’s billions of years ago, and measure magnetic anomalies known to be in the Mare Serenitatis area. This will help scientists understand the Moon’s geologic history better.

I look forward to the broadcast and keep my fingers crossed for a successful touchdown.

Godspeed and good luck, Beresheet!

It's only gonna last 2 to 3 days. Right before it overheats, watch some blurry unknown get captured.

Me neither, I just came across the announcement by chance when sifting through the latest headlines.

The live coverage starts in about an hour...

Fingers crossed!

How can we be sure that Obama is not on it? He has gone missing since the FBI tap flap. And you know that the Israeli's do not like him.

Another first is that Israel will simultaneously annex the region where they land.

Nah, there is nobody occupying that area, and nobody has any dibs on the moon yet, they will just claim the whole moon as theirs. So every time you look at the moon you will have to send a penny to Israel from now on.

I wouldn't doubt it. But if its already occupied, I bet they are better armed, than the Palestinians...

But really, what good will a live broadcast accomplish? Dark side, no comms??????? Or did they put a lunar comms satellite in orbit already?

Clearly they are going after the nazis that escaped to the moon.

Aaaaaaand they crashed it.

Were those visuals from Kerbal Space Program?

They did not successfully land. Problems with communication and/or main engine firing. Preliminary suspicions.
They will most definitely try again.

Quite sad really ... but their tech seemed to have been salvaged from a dumpster outside a Walmart.

Better luck next time Israel.

Bummer!

but an engine restart at only 149km from the Moon didn't bode well.

Seems that they are taking things OK.

Ah well, hopefully the Falcon Heavy launch tomorrow goes better.

A 3 booster landing will be amazing if they pull it off.

This is so unbelievably fake! I can't believe they are trying to pull this off. Crazy! The NWO is obviously in place at this point.

Is that for real? It looks like special effects from a low budget 1970's movie. WTF?
