Most likely this is an insurance issue. I honestly don't know the law, or how long insurance companies can be forced to pay for life support of a doomed patient.

My point is, 3rd trimester abortions are, and have been legal in Virginia all along. So, this belief that the Democrats introduced a bill, just now allowing is not true. What the bill did was address perceived obstacles to life saving options for the mother.

Look, I sat with my mom for 5 hours watching my grandmother die. She choked on a pill, but because she signed a DNR refusing any kind of invasion life support, they hospital refused to give her the tracheotomy that would have saved her life. Instead, we watched her choke for hours, until the Morphine drip shut her kidneys down and she succumbed.

That said, If hospitals can sit back and watch a patient that could be saved die, even aid the death along, then I think a parent should have the right to decide if their dying newborn should be put on life support or not. That's just me.

I wish there was an adjective that could describe the absolute disgust that I have for people who can look at an infant, look at an ultrasound of the unborn baby, and say, "Meh, kill it".

As a father of two beautiful sons, it hurts to even think about.

Here's a gruesome situation to ponder.

Many of us think the reports about the "side" businesses of PP and others are real. I don't even want to describe it here, but I think most of you are aware of the investigations and accusations. So, we know that people and organizations will do the most horrid of things for money.

I have a very difficult time computing how a mother that brings a child to term and gives birth could just toss it in a dumpster, a public restroom toilet or trash can, and just go on about her business.

But, we know it happens, because every so often we read about it, and some of us cry for the infant.

If we allow this insanity to go forward regarding bills that allow abortions up to full term, what would stop an unethical clinic or healthcare practitioner from removing the newborn to another room, telling the mother the deed is done, and then selling that child to the highest bidder.

I have grown cynical. More and more, it appears that a certain segment of society is becoming sociopathic and even psychopathic. The possibilities for abuse by both the pregnant woman and the unethical healthcare practitioners are frightening to think about.

The good news is this as is far as the dems will go, age wise.

If they kept going, and raised the age to like 24...they would lose a large portion of their voter base.

No, just that, if this bill passed, that life support could be withheld if the parents wished.

Now, life support is one thing, but providing healing drugs and medical intervention is another. How long do we force newborns that can't survive without life support languish in limbo?
