Just a guess, but I'd wager you don't have any children.

Impossible. NHS is the besf health care system in the world. Socialized medicine is the path to the future if you rabble would just embrace it. It's for your own good!

Just imagine, for every child that the parents fight for, how many parents simply bow to the authority of the state without a fight?

It makes absolutely no sense that they cant take him to the Vatican hospital for treatment .

How about the flight itself being an issue?

This seems to be yet another example of conservative hysterics.

Rest in peace little fella, it’s a shame your death is being used to push political agendas.

Yeah, it’s so nice the Vatican was concerned about this one kid, but spent decades covering up institutionalised child sexual abuse.

Go Vatican!

If he cant make the flight anyways, and the hospital is letting him die, then whats the problem ? If he is going to die either way, why is it so important to not let him fly ? The worst that can happen is he dies. Which according to them is an inevitability.

Don't you find it rather repulsive that the parents of this child are willing to let it be a guinea pig at the hands of the Vatican? That is a very unsettling notion to me. How selfish as a parent do you have to be to insist their child be left alive to suffer through an incurable disease?

Why do people the world over insist that a person be left alive when it is obvious they will never have a quality life? This baby is 2 years old. Let's be generous and say he can live for 2 more years. What will HIS quality of life be? Remember too that he will have no comprehension of why he feels so bad all the time. Four years of sickness, and THEN he dies.

How heartless do people have to be to allow that to happen? Would he feel love from his parents? Im sure he would. But he will die knowing, as much as a 4 year old can, that the love he felt didnt make him better and couldnt stop him from dying.

Sorry, but if you ask me that not only is a fckd up way to live out 4 years, but the parents should be ashamed of themselves for being so self-involved that they couldn't see how it effected their own chilld.

Whom they claim to love.

Yes, I know I'm being pragmatic. But when you let your emotions take over to the point where you can't see the reality of a situation anymore............you end up hurting the last person you wanted to.

Is it as repulsive, heartless, or selfish as some perfectly healthy babies being aborted for no good reason? What about its quality of life?

Either way, who are you to judge their choice if I'm not allowed to judge the choices of those whom choose to live as skanks using abortion as a form of birth control?

A tragic story for sure, little Alfie passed away in the night.

People are criticising Alder Hey for their decision to withdraw treatment and saying ‘this wouldn’t happen in America’. You’re right it wouldn’t, you wouldn’t get 18 months free round the clock care in a globally recognised centre of excellence. The treatment would stop the moment you run out of money or insurance.

Possibly they should have let his family take him to the Vatican once it was decided they could do no more. Not sure The Popes contribution was exactly helpful or what the Vatican hospital could offer except more of the same. They couldn’t even determine what his condition was let alone treat it. The costs alone in the last few weeks for court cases and extra policing would surely have paid for a medivac flight to Italy.

The process has undoubtedly been dragged out in the European courts.

A sad end to the story but not quite ‘The Liverpool care pathway’ of old.

Wow . I am sure most of you are aware of baby Alfie Evans in the UK.

The UK has basically decided to let this kid die because he has a degenerative neurological condition that doctors say is incurable.

Now the family who desperately want to keep their son alive has been offered free care at the Vatican hospital where they will try experimental treatments .

For some reason the UK government has decided to not let him go even though it will be no cost to them whatsoever.

Well now the hospital who has decided to murder this child (they are not even feeding him) is upset at all the hatemail and phone calls from around the world .

Not only upset but they have the police monitoring social media accounts looking for anyone speaking out against this and threatening legal action.

I do not understand why the UK would not let this family take their son somewhere else for treatment. You guys across the pond have no rights left .

No gun rights ,no freedom of speech ,not even the freedom to get your own child the care you think he needs.. The drs and the Government get the final say over your childs care ?

Not even the freedom to bitch about the care hes not getting without being arrested.

Despite the fact that this will come at no cost to the UK government or the hospital, they are legally forcing the family to stay in the UK, where they will be denied medical care because the government decided that it was not worth the effort to keep the boy alive. Even worse, the hospital has not been feeding the child while he is under their care, which is now court mandated.

thefreethoughtproject.com...

Hey America you should be more civilized like us and give up your guns. Now excuse me while we go murder this child...

YOU DIRTY SCUM ussing a child to spread your political view....

1.the child cannot be cured MEDICAL FACT.

2. the child was taken of the breathing machine ( stopped breathing ) and the father was cought 5 times giving mouth to mouth to the child becouse he could no breath FACT.

3. the hospital in rome will put him back onto a breathing machine ( which is why the court case was started becouse he cant breath with out it ),
tso they are gonna turn him into a LAB RAT to test their new drugs out so they can earn millions if they might happen to work even the italian doctors say there is a 90% chance they wont work FACT.

4. the child is being fed water becouse its the only thing that his body is not rejecting ( you need fluids to survive not food, your body is 75% fluid mass )

do not us this child for you politacal agenda or to get stars on this site..

this has nothing to do with the pope or the usa its about a father prelonging a childs suffering for his 15 minutes of fame and the money he is making from the news vultures.

we had a simuliar case 5 months back went the same way the parents raised 750k wheres the money now, did they give it back NO, did they give it to charity NO, have you seen them get involved in this case NO, have they thrown their weight behind this case NO..

this boils down to a child who is suffering and you and the media are make this suffering last longer than God intended STOP IT ITS NOT POLITICAL

Jesus, this is insane.

They're legally forcing the family to remain in the UK? They decided an infant is not worth the effort?

How can this be real? This is a sick joke.

Even if treatment is far-fetched, doesn't the attempt yield data for future cases? What the hell is going on over there?

Why are you ignoring the 18 months they kept him on life support?

But nah, no effort was mad at all....

i edited to add an afterthought.

Regardless of what you or I think about this....Why is the government deciding and not the parents?

What you or I think has no weight here--should be the same with gov.

Here's a crazy thought...let the parents make a decision as parents.

The government are not our parents, however much they wish to be.
