Jesus, this is insane.

They're legally forcing the family to remain in the UK? They decided an infant is not worth the effort?

How can this be real? This is a sick joke.

Even if treatment is far-fetched, doesn't the attempt yield data for future cases? What the hell is going on over there?

You're just accustomed to thinking that parents had responsibility for children.

I am too old-fashioned eh? Well I'll just grab my Depends and Polygrip and leave this one to the experts.

The government acted on the advice given by the doctors.

There was no real viable treatment at the Vatican hospital either.

Yes it’s gotten messier than it should, but for people to say no effort was made to help him, is complete bs.

This seems to be yet another example of conservative hysterics

So it is Conservative to want this child to have a chance? It is Conservative to believe the parents should have the final decision over an Authortitarian state? Your opinion makes me even more proud to be a Conservative.

Pardon me if I don’t want any part of your enlightened progressive opinion that strips rights from parents and chooses death for a child when other options are available.

Score one for the European death panel and the Authoritarian state.

I've heard of doctors in the old days smothering babies they saw as unfit. Now we see it isn't just a folk myth.

The very second that you allow the government to do the thinking for you, you've immediately become dumber.

Terrible not allowing parents to move the child to Italy for treatment

Is English not your forte? Read you own source - big difference between voicing an opinion and threatening behaviour
No one is being silenced.

for anyone speaking out against this and threatening legal action.

Well thats England for you. Be a good subject and obey the crown. Doesnt matter if thugs murder you in the street while you're defenseless or your child is dying and you want to try a hail mary. As long as the crown maintains control over its subjects, everything is fine.

Worst thread ever.

1) The posts the police are on about were people planning to storm a childrens hospital and set off fire alarms in order to kidnap alfie. This would obviously put every child in that hospital at serious risk of death and kidnapp.

2) The vatican weren't offering any treatment and don't have the best record of looking after young boys.

Worst thread ever.

It is eye opening though, shows us how they lap up certain media stories like gospel and yet claim to be critical of media in the same breath.

Its a sad state of affairs when people are calling for an armed gang to ransack a hospital full of sick children , not to mention that the Vatican is now a children's champion no less....is this the twighlight zone.....

Another ignorant post by self absorbed political commentators on the internet regarding this poor baby who has died in a UK hospital.

It is not about a nanny state, a failing health service, or a judicial system protecting human rights. It is about a baby who has been very ill his entire short life.
Degenerative brain disease does not get better, it is degenerative ( look it up ) undiagnosed because they have no names for the myriad of forms this disease can take....but relentless, a mutation of a genetic mitochondrial disease.

Italy did not offer this baby any cure, ( there isn't one at this time ) or further treatment !
They offered extended palliative care.
Their intention was to prolong his life a further few weeks, more than likely to perform more invasive tests to further their own research into this disease. There was also speculation that if he survived long enough then perhaps Berlin would be his next stop for more invasive testing. It is also highly unlikely that he could have made these trips all over the place without going through constant seizures, requiring resuscitation on route.

If this baby's family had not been exploited by various groups, and had his whole tragic plight not descended into a hysterical social media frenzy, then perhaps this baby could have been at home with his family when his short life ended ...instead of in a hospital ward with parasitic protestors, smart phones at the ready, encamped outside.

The doctors and care givers at his hospital done what any other health professionals would have done in this case, their absolute best. They sustained him as long as they could, when there is nothing more that can be done they then advise the family on what the final palliative care is should be....acting in and for the best interests of their patient.

And of course his parents fought for him, what parents wouldn't ? That is precisely the reason why the judicial system kicks in, when the family and doctors cannot reach an agreement on the child's care, then someone has to look at the FACTS of the case and make an informed decision on what is in the CHILD's best interests. Who should decide this ? Not the family... they are not health professionals, Not the doctors alone...they are not human rights specialists. And certainly not a bunch of ignorant armchair nobodies on social media.

They did not starve him...he could not swallow.
He did not fight to live after they removed his tubes....only 30% of his brain stem was active, the primitive part, the part that has involuntary reflexes.

Read the medical history about this little boy, before you start sounding your own misinformed trumpets.

These posts are disgusting. Get back to your MAGA posts or at least GrowTFup
Shame on you......

RIP Alfie

Actually I am.

So you're saying that the British doctors may not always be right, yet we're supposed to obey them regardless.
