Yeah Im done. Im happy for what was set in motion and the precedent set. That said, I am off this bitch.

I want someone else. Its great we have an electoral voice again. I thank Trump for his service and ask that he be as faithful as a gentleman keeping his word while he finishes his term.

Then I am shopping again for someone strong enough in all the right places to do the hard tasks. Face the dark places. Wrestle with the scary demons in the black.

Trump blinked. Its ok. He held out long enough. It is impressive to say the least. I will always respect him. I dont think I would hate him unless he gets any of our people killed for a profit.

Basically I think we should feel threatened by the perpetual war these assholes are on and we should take more concerted efforts to stop it before we never evolve beyond......this......

The next election, everyone should run under a single platform and have ALL candidates embrace it in solidarity as a prerequisite for consideration in the next election. That is:

The immediate withdrawal of our armed forces internationally beyond patrol and invited coalition activities with the UN, NATO, and our allies, where morally acceptable and justified beyond ANY shadow of a doubt.

The immediate scale back of defense spending to reallocate 60% of the current defence budget to building evacuation shelters, emergency services and search and rescue facilities nationwide.

Then projects to protect vital infrastructure from EMP and solar flares takes priority. Then auxillary solar power generation. Then more water purification plants. Then new rail systems. and so on.

Build useful things we will be better off for in case of war or natural disaster....or just for general national prosperity.

and if anyone ever tries to start a war again in the "age of reason" then you smack the crazy dumb bastard before he sits back down.

At the end of the day it's our "leader" that's supposed to lead the way as far as making the "right" decisions. If he's been so easily swayed into believing lies and taking action on those lies - which could very well end countless innocent lives - expressing blind patriotism is NOT the way forward and is akin to being complicit in his wrongdoings.

As Grambler said we'll hope he rights the course and at least does well in other matters that we'd supported him for - but in this particular case he's lost a lot of respect.

Question.......

What happened to needing congressional approval to strike another sovereign nation?

When Obama did it, "conservatives" were angry.....we railed against it.....we didnt want to get involved with that war.......

Its cool now?........no worries? or is it "well because Obama" and "Trump is cool"

We just saying fk all to our laws set down? No wonder they think they can take our 2nd , were giving them reason why its all conditional.....

Have the courage of your GD convictions people..........

I personally believe there were many on the Trump train if you want to call it that simply because of the crook and the socialist TPTB put forth to run against him.. Plus the, "put America first" thing rang a very large bell in many people's minds.

Exactly.

I have principals that far surpass a person or a party I support.

I am tired of any president declaring war without congresssional approval.

Not being a warmonger regime changer was one of the two big reasons I voted for trump.

It appears I was mistaken.

Ummm...thank you for your honesty...I think in our own small way’s in multitudinous conversations...we all stand up to our own personal definitions of tyranny...
Those conversations happen every day here on ATS...
The truly unfortunate part is that voting is placebo at best...The main reason I voted for Trump was because of his campaign promises to pull back from military adventurism and seek congressional approval for any campaigns...

He’s proven to be untrustworthy on both accounts...he can pound sand now...

I’m not American, so I cannot relate. But I know that it’s nice to have a moral force in the world that’s willing to fight back against tyranny, especially things like chemical warfare.

It was no more than a show of force, “a deterrent”, not war.

I do think this is something that should be reigned in - and quickly. It seems that the US President, for some time, has felt they have the power to just strike other countries at will...

...wasn't there some congressional approval for such action that has now expired...? Seem to recall reading that a few months back.

That’s fine, but beware that your pacificsm might put you on the wrong side of history. Despotic governments can stand your moral force till the cows come home; what they fear is physical force.

Trump promised everything, on all sides lol?!?!

Promised to be more active militarily and promised not to be military active..

Promised healthcare for all, and to kill Obamacare..

Promised to ignore weed. Makes the biggest weed hawk I Washington AG.

Promised to prosecute hillary, then praised her in his acceptance speech and did nothing to her..

People can go back and check my post history..

Trump has this insane ability to make people think he wants what they want. Even if he is saying the opposite..

We have been going to war without congress since AT LEAST 911 and I’m pretty sure it was well before that.

Yes, that is what I am referring to, but wasn't there an authorisation given by Congress (a blank cheque for strikes as opposed to invasion)?... I recall that authorisation expired a few months back, but can't remember the specifics.

I was a huge Trump supporter, I am really pissed off about the air strikes on Syria. When America was going to pull out of the area why would Assad use CW?

I am still glad that Trump beat Hillary, so I haven't changed my view on that.

I just hope this is eye opening enough for those of us that still have faith in this system to look again with suspicion, we have been lied to since forever, the evidence is there in every administration, they say one thing and do another.

I really just hope people wake the # up to these shenanigans.

I am now officially, withholding my vote for Trump or his policies...

chances are greater now that I will vote against anything he wants his administration to do

he is not like McCain or Graham....Yet

but is heading in that direction at a steady pace, imho

it's my viewpoint that the 100 missiles fired were at useless targets and distant enough from Russian forces to not have even a hangnail mishap experienced by our adversary Russians

lets see as daylight lets us see the destruction the 100 missile raid done did last night

Oh no..

They have been reauthorizing the patriot act like clock work.. and it absolutely gives TPTB a blank check to attack ANYONE.. they just gotta call them terrorists..

And terrorist is synonymous with freedom and resistance fighters...

Dan (hardcore history.. can’t remember his last name lol) has a podcast on nuclear weapons and how it was decided they required presidential authority.

Dan Carlin..

If I’m right it also tracks war powers as well.

I was never on it. I do find it amusing that so many people believe it matters who the president is in 2018. I don't vote. I don't vote because I know it doesn't matter. You could take anyone off the street and put them in the WH and the same agenda would be going on in the background.

Believe it or not, Donald Trump is not capable of running even a small country. Or even a city. This country would fall apart in an hour if any one man was now or has ever been in complete control of it.

There were many things which he said that I did not totally agree, but I could not go for Hillary. Way to much baggage.

I did tell several people, weeks before the election, to not get too happy about a Trump victory. I knew nothing of real substance will change in Washington. Oh yes, they "tinker" around the edges, I was surprised by the tax bill, but in general not much has changed.
