I am sick of these shootings. Sensible gun laws need to be passed now.

For starters:

All able-minded men should be required to be trained and armed as a means of protecting family and community.
Firearms, accessories, and ammunitions shall be subsidized by the government and made affordable to all.
Regular firearms training and practice shall be free and required of all men.
Safe places shall be designated and enforced by metal detectors. Citizens not properly armed shall be refused admittance/

While I don't completely disagree with what you typed (apart from the gender bit) .... I don't think every adult is capable (metnally, emotionally etc) of doing that. I base this on how I see some muppets act. You need to earn the right to bear arms IMHO. YEs training would be that, but some people can't be trained and should never be let near a butter knife let alone something more dangerous.

If you have a dishonorable discharge from the military, does the law say you can not own a gun?

Just heard one of the talking heads say that.

Whether the resident hit him or not, he at least caused the coward to flee. Either way, the armed resident was key to saving lives. The anti-gun crowd were excited as # initially that this was in Texas and there wasn't a report of an armed citizen responding before police got there. Looks like they celebrated too early.
