Foreign policy is bad right now. Out of 200 UN recognized countries, the US recognizes 192 of them. Out of those 192, we don't currently have ambassadors assigned to 59 of them. All of their information on our foreign policy comes from Trumps twitter stream.

Out of the 21 international organizations we used to send ambassadors to, since Trump took office we've pulled back and only sent people to 8 of them.

It's a mess.

I was just looking at the official list, updated October 4th. I didn't know there were that many vacancies currently. First on the list is Afghanistan, which is vacant. Haven't been following appointments, so that caught me off guard.

Edit: Apparently John Bass was confirmed as Amb. to Afghanistan. Even though the latest State Department list has that post as still vacant. Guess I shouldn't assume the official gvt list updated 6 days ago would be accurate. Heh
